Xavier Von Drachenfeld is being hailed as the first Lord Emperor in four hundred years, and the Blood Nation is starting to break into factions. The redheaded yearling has more on his plate than he can handle: a stalker, perplexing medical issues, and work, all while still trying to learn what it takes to be a Blue Blood vampire.

However, a powerful Ancient, Hades, has brought his attention on the young assassin. When Hades speaks, the nation listens, whether it be affairs of state, matters of finance, or orders of assassination. What Hades wants, Hades gets, and Hades wants the redhead. Can a minor Ancient such as Claudius defy that authority? Can the broken lover stand up to protect his heart of hearts? Does the Brotherhood of Von Drachenfeld need outside protection?

Then the Lycan Nation begins to move…

Greetings, gentle readers. My name is Derekica Snake aka kiix. This is the part where I write about myself. It is harder than it looks. It is so much easier to write about fictional characters…hummm. Wait. I have a light blub moment.

On a dark and quiet evening in the month of April, a little girl child came into the world in St. Joesph General Hospital. Upon seeing the little girl with the little curl in the middle of her forehead, the father was heard to remark…why does she have red hair? At that moment I’ve been known as the milkman’s kid, oops, I meant she’s been known as the milkman’s kid. See, this is why I write in first person. If it works for you, stick with it.

My favorite book was “Green eggs and ham”. Apparently my mother got so annoyed with me reciting it that it accidently on purpose got tossed out the window of a moving car. So I guess I started writing my own stories once I was taught to print. I’ve always loved writing fiction. In elementary and secondary school we were required to keep a journal. I didn’t want to. I love to write but not about myself. I just wrote little ideas down and handed them in. I graduated so I guess it was good.

I thought I was in deep fascination with a boy in grade seven who was very into Star Trek. I had no clue what he was talking about so I started learning about Star Trek and now it was what was his name? Sci-fi segued into Fantasy and from there I never looked back. I was a big Star Wars geek (pre-episode 1) and wrote pastiche Han Solo adventures as a teenager.

My writing began to lean towards my current selection of offerings. I initially was a little distressed. I thought I was off – way off. I was uncomfortable with the content and toned it down or cut it out completely on second draft attempts. However, it kept cropping back up and I thought I was going to have to pull my hair out to make it stop but then…on May 6, 2006 at 9:15 a.m. I discovered “Ai No Kusabi” on youtube.

That was also the same time that I realized that what I had been writing and hiding away for years had a name. Yaoi. If it had a name others were reading and writing it so I wasn’t the lone pervert out in the world. I took my hands out of my hair and put my fingers on the keyboard and embraced the world of Yaoi.

It only took me six months to figure out how to start posting stories on the Internet on www.adultfanfiction.net. It wasn’t long before I moved from writing AnK fan fiction to posting my own original Yaoi writing under the pseudonym kiix.

I started writing daily. I found a continuing education course on Professional Creative Writing in a local city and started taking courses. There were some tips and facts that were good but the social networking was the key. It was after this that I started actively exploring getting my works published. That expensive piece of paper honed my confidence enough to start sending out queries and posting my first drafts right to the net.

While I had to pony up time and money to self publish once the rejection e-mails came in, I didn’t mind. I think it was the start of something good. I think? I know it was the start of something good.

Welcome to my version of the world of Yaoi. I look forward to leaving my touch in your mind.

**WARNING** Those prone to motion sickness should take Dramamine before reading this book.

Another spin on Snake's Wild Ride. Yee-HAW!

A seriously messed up addition to the vampire saga of Blood Nation. Once again, totally out there and unrepentant in the crazy persona roulette going on. I give major kudos to Snake for individualizing the characters of Azrael, Xavier, Sex, Armor, Marcus, Carnage, and Claudius so well that there is absolutely no trouble following who the heck is on the page at any given time. And let me tell you, this is no mean feat as they jump in and out with abandon.

If you've read Snake then you're prepared for the insanity. If you haven't, check the warnings. And you must be this twisted to read it:

Love this installment. There are couple new grenades tossed that upset the apple cart. Hades in particular pisses me off. That Ancient has something coming for him.

Claudius and Marcus have some moments of brilliance and stupidity. Again. That said there are some scorching scenes. Wicked hot. Everyone gets a moment in sun and it is HOT!
When that man got his cherish on, I wanted to do nothing more than kneel at his feet forever.

Finally seems like Xavier might be getting a handle on this emperor thing.
As the Lord Emperor, it was probably smart to keep the number of people who called me by my first name to a select few, and I was pretty sure that it was not a good idea to have the kid dry-humping my head as one of those few.
Sex might fumble a few things, but when he works it right--BAM! Talk about loading the bases for Azrael to bring them home.

When chaos isn't exploding around them this is actually a very sweet and loving story. Of course, then something gets ripped to shreds and then you want to throw the book/ereader/computer. But hold tight and close your eyes if necessary 'cause the last twirly spin twist sets up a whole new game for book #4.

Gimmee, GIMMEE!

Favorite passage:
I wanted Armor with me so badly right now, but Marcus needed me. They were like salt and pepper. We, the Brothers and Father, were the rest of the spice rack.

Dear Xavier (and your brothers/split personalities),

description

I will forever love reading about you, I don't think you can do anything wrong in my eyes, you are a star and I can't wait for the next book. Tell Marcus to make room for me as I want to stalk you too. Can you blame me, you are hot! I love your scenes, but tell Azrael I prefer you and Sex over him, because him and Marcus aren't as hot as you and your Armor and Sex and Claudius.

There wasn't as much action in this book, but I suppose you needed a rest after the last one, but you still kept my attention, oh beautiful one. I think it was sort of nice having some down time, and focusing on the different relationships, though the werewolves and that arsehole Hades made for some interesting times.

Also, don't cut your hair again. I'm glad it grew back fast, because I like it long. Interesting it has now changed colour from red to white with your metamorphosis. You are becoming a truly unique character with so much potential, the next book should be really good.

Forever yours,

One of your biggest fans,

Harlen-I-love-this-series!!!!

Really great. Sometimes I think the plot gets so thick that details get forgotten or ignored for too long but then suddenly they come back into play. They are not perfectly structured books but the characters are brilliant. It could be confusing, but they are all so very distinct. I have no trouble keeping up with the personalities and I kind of adore them all, messed up or not.

There were some tears for me in this story. These boys have been through so much in such a short time that it's heartbreaking. Fucking Hades makes my skin crawl, but I hope for retribution or redemption there. Please?

My only complaint was some crappy editing. When you pay $10 for a book you expect it to be well edited. This one was full of errors, but it's so compelling that I can cope with the flaws.

Can't wait for the next in this series. Highly recommended, especially if you like emotional roller coasters and action movies.

2/2015 - Reread and Xavier's life is just a ride!

Xavier's world continues to expand - he is acknowledged as the Lord Emperor and becomes #1 Assassin which brings him a multitude of issues to deal with.

Because he's the Lord Emperor, he can't mate with Armor and must marry a woman to breed with and as the #1 Assassin, he now must work directly with Hades, a poisonous, evil elder Vampire.

Xavier and Marcus' multiple personalities become more defined and eventually have to work together to protect their respective hosts.

What a series! Can't wait for #4

And a quibble - needs more editing. This is a pretty expensive ebook compared to most that I buy so I feel like I have to mention it. Still, I am enjoying this grand, epic tale and please don't use this as something to stop you from experiencing the world of Xavier and the Blood Nation.

When is this shit coming out?

Update: some I liked, some I didn't. I hope the next book will focus more on the politics and new dilemmas that were introduced. I also hope that the relationship angst will take a back burner for it seems like everything has worked out and I don't think I can make it through another one of these books if it's gonna be a repeat of the exponential relationship angst that this one was. I didn't like Hades at all, I thought he was unnecessary and the story would have been so much better without him. I could have tolerated him if he did not have sexual interest in Sex and instead was just someone who tested Xavier, gave him support as emperor, and was a tool by which we learned about Carnage's, I'm seriously blanking on his real name, past. One last thing, what was up with Marcus in the beginning, I seriously thought his whole stalker thing was totally out of left field and was all in all very confusing.

I really do love this series. It took me a bit to really get enmeshed in this one mainly because I have a difficult time keeping all the personalities straight and who belongs to whom. This series continues to be full of intrigue, sex, dry humor, and lots of fun. Hades deserves a mention here because I really hate his guts, but he added to the book as well. One of my favorite lines in the book, "Damn it. Now I had a dog." Curious to see where the next installment will take us. 4.5 stars

Wow... Derekica Snake has build a world that keeps crumbling around the characters as they reach for happiness... The twists and turns make me dizzy but I LOVE it! Can't wait for more! I highly recommend this book & the whole series.

Well, this is a Derekica Snake book. If you have read anything by her you know it is graphic and violent. Her books aren’t for anyone who has issues with rape and violence. Plenty of bad/good guys and it isn’t a black and white world. The hero isn’t always safe from harm and the love interest doesn’t always protect his love, sometimes he is the cause of the pain.

I’m going to try and stay away from the plot because I am afraid if I start I will spill the whole thing! If you have read the last two of the books then you know in book two there become issues of keeping all the personalities straight. I did think the author did a good job in this book straightening that all out and now you can see the different person each man becomes. (I will add here that I really believe that Xavier/Sex/Azreal is more of a realistic split than Marcus/Armor. They say multiple personalities are rarely ever just two.) Each of the personalities becomes his own separate person. Though we didn’t really see much in the split of Marcus/Armor we also see it more clearly now. The whole of the plot has still not been revealed in this book. What is revealed though is quite skillfully crafted. I am continually surprised by the plot’s twists and turns. The author is an excellent writer and well schooled in her craft.

The details given in scenes make each stand out and live. You feel the heat, pain, and sorrow, you see and smell the pain, blood, fear, and frustration each scene you read. People may not care for what the contents of this author’s stories are but they must admit she is wonderful at writing and creating a mood with it. The characters come alive. You hate them, you “awww” with them, and you laugh with them. They are vivid even if you hate them, which I think when you read you will agree Hades is a HATED character.

I believe the author left lots up in the air and many things hinted at. You wonder if there will be more personalities emerging, will Hades be killed or redeem himself, and WHAT is the deal with the Lycans! I hate the wait personally but Snake makes it all worthwhile.

So, wrapping up…wonderful writing (maybe with some horrific to us elements), excellent character, plot twists you can’t see coming, and we are left hanging…so good, bad, in-between? I have learned most of the time that Snake’s writing is love it or hate it…I loved it! This is one author that knows dark writing at its best!

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

Cinnamon
5 Stars
Don’t read this without reading the first two.....big no no!! It had been a while since I read Cake and Cinder so it was a pleasure to re-read them before starting Cinnamon and as I have just read all 3 in as many days I will do a quick re-cap 

Cake (Book 1) 5 Stars
This is where it all starts and where we first meet Marcus a deliciously sexy and very deviant vampire. He works for the house of the Assassins and his latest ‘mark’ is Edward who has been stealing from the company he works for. Edward is not a nice person - since becoming almost blind as a teenager he has turned away from the world and his family and is nasty to just about everyone he comes across, his only comfort in life is eating which in turn has led to obesity. Despite all this Marcus sees something special in him and for the first time ever defies the ‘house’ and allows Edward to live. By living Edward is kidnapped, raped, made to exercise, given his sight back and terrorised for a year before Marcus finally turns him into a vampire. Marcus is in love with Edward and hopes they can be equals and lovers in life but it soon becomes clear that Edward is a very special vampire and life is never going to be the same.

Cinder (Book 2) 5 Stars
So Edward has re-named himself Xavier and we learn that both he and Marcus have Split personalities. I actually love this idea! By the end of the book you no longer have 2 MC’s but 5 and each of them is as messed up as the next one but more importantly they each have a roll to play. I won’t give too much away but it becomes clear that we know more about Armor than we do about Marcus. As in book 1 we spend a lot of time with Claudius who is like a big Vampire daddy. He tries to keep both the boys on the straight and narrow. He is the ‘house’ number 1 assassin and is the coldest person you are ever likely to come across. As Xavier comes into more of his powers more and more people are interested in his blue flame. One in particular will prove deadly and it will leave the young fledgling vampire in a fight for his life.

Cinnamon (Book 3) 5 Stars
Xavier is now the acknowledged Lord Emperor and number 1 assassin for the ‘house’ but not everyone is happy to see the Blue line return and the blood nation is restless. The split personalities become much clearer in this book and Xavier/Sex/Azrael each have very distinctive personalities and they also love very differently. It is not so easy for Marcus/Armor. Marcus was so badly treated as a child he is still broken and when he starts to fixate on Xavier he no longer allows Armor to surface. He tricks Xavier and breaks their relationship completely leaving himself alone in the world. For the next 4 months he stalks Xavier everywhere he goes until both men reach breaking point and Xavier truly believes he is going to have to kill both his enemy and lover. In a last ditch attempt to resolve the situation it is Azreal, Xaviers cold assassin side, who steps in and saves the day. Marcus finally releases Armor and the 2 men and 5 personalities try to resolve their issues. With all these different personalities you may think this would be a difficult story to follow but it is the complete opposite! These characters fit beautifully together and although they live in a viscous and terrifying world it is like being on an out of control train that you can’t and don’t want to get off!
Enter Hades. I really really hated Hades!!! He is an 800 year old Ancient in a teenagers body and he runs the show! After overseeing a punishment session he decides he wants Xavier and he is not used to being told no. It will be interesting to see what happens to him in the next book.....personally I would stake him! Even his blood tastes nasty!
This book is a real page turner and I couldn’t put it down, life literally stopped until I was finished. It holds no punches and is very dark and gritty but it is also a love story when the guys are given a little bit of time. The world building is fantastic and leaves so much open for the continuation of the series! Are we going to have a wife? Where do the Lycans fit in? Will we see anymore personalities appear? Are Xaviers family going to be safe? Will Hades have a personality transplant or will he be staked?
This is such an addictive series I personally cannot wait for the next book to come out to see how these boys cope with everything and what new horrors they have to deal with! 

Let me say first that I absolutely loved the first two book of this series and rated them 5 stars. This one was a little bit a disappointment for me. I still has alot of the dry snarky humor I like and I still like the overall story but this one failed for me a couple different ways.

The best yet! Cinnamon is the 3rd book in the Blood Nation series and it exceeded my expectations. Really, this series just keeps on getting better and better. I had to refresh my memory a bit when I started reading because of the gap between the books but after a while it all came back and once again I got sucked into the intermingling lives of these sexy vampires.

Like in the previous books, the swapping/changing over of personalities can sometimes be a little bit confusing, but I'm ok with that, you sort of get used to it after a while. These books are really exciting to read, you're kept on your toes all the time and I just wonder what will happen in the future and where the story will go. Hopefully we won't have to wait as long this time, the waiting nearly killed me!

Xavier and Armor were always my favourites and I liked them to have more time together than the other 'brothers'/'father'. However, I've fallen for the charms of Claudius and love his relationship with Sex and the way more of his emotions are showing now. I even have a bit of a soft spot for Marcus and just know he is going to come through good in the end.

One of my favourite quotes....
"He is going to kick my ass when I get home. Then on Saturday, he is going to kick Marcus's ass. Do not smile; you are getting a kicking too."
"Me? Why me?"
"No one talks to Father that way."

Ok, I'm sure that there's going to be a lynch mob after me for saying this, but I actually really like Hades. Yes, at the first reading I found him a little annoying, but after I read it a little more thoroughly, I decided that I loved him. I mean, he's like a gender-swapped combo of Rogue from the X-Men and Poison Ivy from Batman. And I don't really see how anything he's done is any worse than anything Marcus or Armor has done. Personally, I hope to see more of him in the next book, and hopefully in a more positive light.
Now that I've got that out of the way, I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. Again, I'm not sure how, since every new developement seems more and more outragious. treading the fine line between excellent literature and bad fan-fiction, somehow Ms Snake balances everything out to create a fun and multi-layered read.
Xavier's various personalities are a lot easier to define now, which is nice. It was a little confusing in the last book. And I like how nicely all three of them are paired up.
And the sex scenes, while copious, were excellent and tittilating. Once again, the author somehow packs it all in to where it's just under the line of two much.
I definately reccammend this book.

I kept my review for the third book, since this is all that's been published at this time. I'm thoroughly impressed with this series. The twist, the unexpected turns and plots just blow me away. I'm dying to read the next one since there appears to be another coming out, but I wish it already was.

I'm iffy about there being, and sorry for the spoiler if you haven't read this one yet, a to be wife for Xavier. I just think to me, a lover of M/M, finds this out of sorts, but understands it's part of the story. Just hope there's no m/f in the next one. Just the way I feel on it.

The characters, Xavier and Marcus, having these split shared personalities is one heck of an interesting mix which keeps you interested and it's so very well written that I never got confused as to which of their personas had taken over and made their appearance into the story.

Sublimely and expertly written. I can't wait for the next book in the series to appear. Soon I hope.

First of all, I LOVE this series. Probably one of my favorite of all times. Derekica Snake is also one of my absolute favorite authors. This book was fabulous, as I expected it to be. A little tamer on the kink and sexy times, but still a wonderful addition to the series.

It would have been five stars. Oh, how I wanted to give it five stars. Alas, I could not due to the obvious absense of proofreading. I think there were at least 100 occasions where a word was left out or the wrong word used. Seriously? We waited how long for this book? I shelled out $10 to a publisher for this. The least that they could do is proof it. Hell, what is one more week when we have waited this long? This was a huge disappointment to me as it just reeks of sloppiness on the editor/publisher.

I would be more than happy to offer my proofreading services in the future, if it allows an early peak at the next book :)

I hope, pray, beg that we don't have to wait very long for the next book.

"Cinnamon" is 3rd in the Blood Nation series Please read "Cake" the 1st and "Cinder" the 2nd before attempting Cinnamon.

I can't help it I love the Blood Nation series and I'm waiting on baited breath for the next book. I personally think cinnamon got off to a very rock start almost like Derekica lost the core of her characters for a moment or got a new editor that didn't quite grasp them the right way. I was happy to see that at least they balanced out again farther along. And like her first two books Cinnamon will twist you up, spin you down, and smack you around. So strap on your hard hats take a deep breath and join us down in the rabbit hole.

The Blood Nation series is not for the faint of heart who just wants a simple happily ever after.

I just went back and re-read the series up to this most recent book. I just love this series so much. I seriously adore all of the main characters and even supporting characters. I love the plots...I mean I could never guess where you are going with the plots. I would be on to something and then you'll be surprising the heck out of me with a totally different, but wonderfully creative plot at the end. Lets not forget about the roller-coaster emotional scenes between the characters either. It is excellently written. Keep up the wonderful work Derekica Snake. Your writing has flourished and had really captured my interests. I am desperately and faithfully awaiting for your next book in the series and many more that you'll publish. Never stop writing because you are excellent at it.

This is my favorite of the series to date. Yet that was my opinion of the last two books as well! The characters continue to evolve, and it is a crazy ride. This was one of those rare finds that really isn't something I would normally read. Yet, I bought every book in the series and loved them all. I really like an author who can make me forget everything that is going on around me, simply because she has completely drawn me in. The non-con made me uncomfortable, but this series has become an instant favorite. Unlike some reviewers, I judge a book on how it makes me feel. Snake managed to evoke many different emotions with this series, and I really like it when a book makes me feel!

I love this series. Consistantly entertaining, sexy and vampy, the reader gets dragged along on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Xavier/Sex/Azriel have a hell of a time and I wonder will they ever get the happiness they seek. The addition of the top boss Hades, an ancient vamp stuck in the body of a horny teenage and with poisionous blood, was frustrating and funny, and a huge a spanner in the works for X. Everyone wants to fuck him, and being shagged by a teenager who's touch is hemlock poision was never going to end well! The fractured personalities were a tad confusing at times, but on the whole Derekica Snake's books are highly entertaining. Looking forward to the next book!

I read the first book of this series for the 2014 Pushing Boundaries Challenge and got hooked. I love what's happening in this series though I have to say, it is pretty far fetched, even for paranormal fiction :) But if you can't go over the top with vampires and werewolves then what's the point.

So I am still trudging through this series, at the speed of snail slime. I mean there is some really great world building stuff in here for the total "our vampires are different" deal. However there is also SO MUCH MORE really bad stuff in here not the least of which are too many terrible tropes to begin with.

Additionally, whenever I have gotten to the point in your romance/erotic/yaoi/slash books where I have begun to skip over the sex scenes, in order to just move the reading pace along you have too many. There is so much overdone boinking in here at some point it is not even sexy anymore. I can't tell if the writer legit likes the Yaoi genre and this some inappropriate homage to it, or does this author intend to poke at the genre and its fans, with this disastrous clown house ride as the terrible final result?

I suspect it is both and neither given that both scenarios never quite come to fruition. The protagonist is never quite funny or snarky enough to make breaking of the 3rd wall even a bit believable. Furthermore, everything else around him is always so catastrophic, that I feel it's now frankly too much drama with out any real point of satisfying payoff for the reader.

Love where this story is going

I was glad that we didn't have the horribly awkward transitions between scenes as happened in the previous book.

Xavier & company really can't get a break! I still don't quite understand why we want to exacerbate the divisions between Xavier, Azrael, and Sex/Edward, but it was awesome to see everyone come to agreement on each personality's right to exist so that they can all now work together.

Why the author never did book 4!?

All 3 books are amazing. Their is drama, romance, violence, long detail sex, rape, abuse , and neglect. The characters grow in each book, they find their own way. Sadly book 3 ends with a cliff hanger. This book was published in 2013. The chances of book 4 .
more than likely not happening. Though I will dare to dream
