Every club needs to take a field trip, and Tanpopo's Gardening Committee is no exception. Koki gets a tip that his elusive older brother may be living incognito in Hokkaido, so the rest of the group packs their bags and heads north with him. Tanpopo is doubly pleased because this extracurricular excursion affords her the rare opportunity to visit her former home, a very different place to the hustle and bustle of big city life. Later, when Koki's betrothed, Erika, shows up as a new transfer student, it'll take more than flowers to soothe the situation at Meio Academy.

Imadoki!: Nowadays, Vol. 3 is the most dramatic of the bunch (so far). There will be heartbreak, there will be turmoil, and there will be blood *clap of thunder* (I'm just kidding about the last part, it is both light hearted and a tad melancholic at parts, but not gorey).

Erika que no le gustas, deja de joder. El tema romántico es una cosa, pero lo de tener que abandonar el comité verde? Hola? Fue SU idea, es SU grupo de amigos, tú eres una acoplada que no pinta nada chata. Que me molesta porque intento ser comprensible en todos los casos pero tengo mi límite y sinceramente ojalá se ponga celoso el tio pq la prota se acerca más al hermano mayor de este, idccc.

Tykkään tarinasta ja sen kerrontatavasta, kuvat ovat selkeät suurimman osan aikaa eikä haittaa, että ovat mustavalkoisia. Tappeluja ei ole yhtään mikä on myös hyvä juttu. Nopeasti tämä on kyllä luettu.

This volume kicks off with Chapter:1-6.
The story is now starting to get some twists and turns in it, and the love triangle is one of the few that I can forgive. Seriously Tanpopo is a rocking character because she stands up for her friends, and doesn't give up on them after she brings them into her circle. It was awesome that she knocked the $h1t out of the philandering student council president!
Also I love her crinkely old grandpa, he's just adorable.
I'll write more when editing mode hits me.

While I didn't like some of the characters at first, you sort of get used to them and they kind of grow on you. And wow that was quite the uh oh moment at the end. And kind of sad, especially for Tanpopo.

Review for complete series
At its core, this is your standard shoujo manga about a naive country bumpkin who finds herself out of place at her new elite school. Tanpopo moves to Tokyo to attend a top school which largely consists of wealthy students or ones of influential families. She soon finds that her plan to make many friends won't be easy as everyone looks down on her because of her more simple background. Tanpopo doesn't give up that easily though and tries to face things with optimism. One student in particular has caught her attention: Kugyou might be the untouchable elite student, but Tanpopo knows of his secret love for gardening and is sure they can form a friendship around that.
While Imadoki has a plot like many others of its kind and you can guess the love interest from page one, I've actually always really enjoyed this manga. There is something nostalgic about it, and by that I am not even referring to having read this a long time ago. In fact, I read it quite a bit after it's publication and it is by no means one of the works that originally got me invested into manga. No, it's just the style and execution that bring together a lot of aspects I associate and like about manga from that time period. It is by no means perfect, but there's something very loveable about it.
Tanpopo certainly is a naive character, but not as bad as some people make her out to be. I like her and while she does seem a little slow in catching on, she does also see things for what they are. She initially gets bullied quite a bit and she just smiles it all away and acts like she doesn't understand what's happening. The truth is that she does fully understand the situation but decides to stand above it. I quite liked her attitude toward the bullies - she didn't let them discourage her nor did she let them rattle her and argue with them. Her insistence of making friends can come across as a little too idealistic, but friendship does become a core part of this story and it generally delivers a nice message.
I like the romance well enough but above all I really enjoy the friendships that form in this manga. They're a colourful bunch, perhaps a little tropey, but perfectly likeable. I loved the humour and nicknames they gave each other - I loved how they quarrelled and at the same time supported each other resolutely. Although it is generally a light-hearted manga, it does also cover a few darker subjects including but not limited to suicide and abortion. As this is not a long manga, it doesn't delve into great detail but I felt it handled these subjects fairly well.
On the down side, Imadoki has one of the most annoying meddling fiancées who only barely manages to earn some redemption toward the end. The plot is occasionally a little jumpy, especially for the latter two volumes. I can see why this is not everyone's cup of tea, but apart from these two issues, I really enjoy this manga and return to it every now and again. The art isn't Watase at her best but it certainly is cute.

Das Cover hat mir auch wieder sehr gut gefallen. Dieses Mal sehen wir die fünf Freunde Arisa, Tsuki, Tanpopo, Kugyou und Kyougoku. Das passt sehr schön zu der wachsenden Freundschaft der Gruppe und ist auch wieder ein sehr schöner Vorgeschmack auf die Qualität der Zeichnungen von Yuu Watase.
Eigener Eindruck:
Nachdem Tanpopo erfahren hat, dass ihre Freundin Arisa vom Schulsprecher schwanger ist, begibt sich diese ins Krankenhaus, um das Baby abtreiben zu lassen. Das trifft die Freunde tief, doch Arisa ist fest entschlossen. Währenddessen bekommt Kugyou den Hinweis, dass sein totgelaubter Bruder sich in Tanpopos Heimat aufhalten könnte, was die Freunde dazu veranlasst gemeinsam dorthin zu reisen. So erfahren sie nicht nur mehr über Tanpopos Vergangenheit, sondern werden wirklich fündig. Doch mit dem Auftauchen des Bruders ist die Verlobung zu Erika keinesfalls gelöst. Diese will Kugyou trotzdem heiraten und geht fortan sogar an die Schule der Freunde, um ihm näher zu sein…
Der dritte Teil der Reihe „Imadoki“ begeistert wieder mit tollen Zeichnungen im typischen Stil von Yuu Watase. Außerdem versteht die Mangaka es die Geschichte dauerhaft spannend voran zu treiben, auch wenn die Szenen rund um Erika bi mir eher für genervtes Aufstöhnen gesorgt haben. Ich mag diesen Charakter und die Übertreibungen um ihn herum nicht. Davon abgesehen wird man mit tollen Hintergrundinformationen rund um Tanpopo versorgt, die wirklich interessant sind und auch die Geschichte von Kugyou und seinem Bruder ist durchaus interessant und verspricht auch weiterhin spannend zu bleiben. Vielleicht ist nun endlich die Chance für Kugyou gekommen, um aus den Normen seines Lebens auszubrechen und endlich das zu tun, was er gern möchte. Und auch die Randgeschichte rund um Arisa und das ungeborene Baby ist durchaus lesenswert, denn es ist ergreifend und regt zum Nachdenken an. Im Großen und Ganzen betrachtet ist das also wieder ein wirklich toller Teil gewesen, den ich jeden wärmstens empfehlen kann. Ich freue mich schon auf die Fortsetzung.

In this volume they finally track down Koki's errant brother and bring him home.Tanpopo thinks that this will put an end to Koki and Erika's engagement but is devastated when Erica decides she prefers Koki and wants to stay engaged to him. Erica not only joins the school but the planting club as well and hangs on to Koki like a leech. The main body of this volume deals with the rose exchange event - you give a red rose to the one you love and get either a white rose (your love is reciprocated) or a yellow one (for rejection) in response. Erika challenges Tampopo and suggests they both give a red rose to Koki and whoever loses has to back off from him AND quit the planting club....
Great characters, wonderful art and touching emotion. Yuu Watase proves yet again why she is one of the best shojo manga creators out there.

In this edition of cute, expressive art which sometimes makes me laugh, but is buried in cliches, well, it's more of the same. This time, there's a summer trip and a festival involved, because it's legally required of shojo manga and Yuu Watase didn't want to be arrested.
This volume felt a bit more serious to me, probably because of all the drama with Koki's family and fiancee situation. There was still some goofiness and wonderful expressions, but not as much as previously.
Again, this is not a game changing volume -- if you liked the previous ones, this isn't going to be different, and if you didn't like them, then this one isn't going to turn it around for you.
This volume felt a bit more serious to me, probably because of all the drama with Koki's family and fiancee situation. There was still some goofiness and wonderful expressions, but not as much as previously.
Again, this is not a game changing volume -- if you liked the previous ones, this isn't going to be different, and if you didn't like them, then this one isn't going to turn it around for you.

How does Yuu Watase fit so much into her books?!? There are no fillers! It’s nice but sometimes, I feel like the pacing is too quick!
Anyway in this volume, they find Koki’s brother, but Erika still wants Koki. She even transfers school for Koki. Which leads to me question why his older brother was set to marry a teenager????
Anyway, I don’t care for Erika. After they find Koki’s brother, she asks about what will happen to her? She was promised to marry a Kugyo. It’s been her dream.

THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH! Omg like aoidhsfaosdhfoahsdf. I feel bad for the fiance tbh... like she's not gonna end up with Koki just saying. As for Tanpop she's basically set. Like the author can 'pretend' that they're not gonna be a thing but like... come on, actually, they are. I also noticed this series only has 5 volumes. Meaning, that legit it's gonna end so soon. I'm not one for endings so just watch as I don't touch this series for like a year. Ya... BUT THE ENDING THO

I’m so pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed this volume. Watase’s humor is some of my favorite in all of the manga I’ve read over the past 10+ years, and it was so wicked and crude and hilarious this volume at such random moments. She balances drama and comedy really well (like with the teen pregnancy subplot) Her work is so nostalgic for me!! I really, really enjoyed this volume. What a silly little cliffhanger though, lol.

The romantic entanglements are fairly predictable. In the first and second volumes I thought the secondary characters were intense and dramatic, but they've rounded out more and I enjoy their interactions with Tanpopo and one another. Koki is slowly becoming a more complex character, although he's still mostly just the "hot guy."

I enjoy this cheesy stuff so much. This is all I needed now. Friendship, the wanting and longing. Okay, it has a triangle but not cheating so I'm okay with this. Also, Rose exchange!! This is getting so dramatic. I love it. And that cliffhanger, so bad.

Oh my goshhhhh! It’s getting so good! Way more drama in this volume and definitely more dislike for this one character and lots of “omg” moments! Enjoyed this and ready for volume 4! 👏🏽
