Face the thing that should not be! At last, Shinji, Rei, and Asuka are being trained for actual combat, gats in hand - stalking a giant gelatinous creature with a spherical "core" they must take out. If this kind of mission sounds strangely familiar, you're right - but if things go as usual, it's poor Shinji who'll get called the slimeball!
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project Volume 9. Continues the spin-off series taking that alternative world as seen in the final episode of Evangelion. The waifu wars continues this halftime hour and its clearly between Asuka and Rei. The rest of the waifus are just there to make Shinji look like a chad and Karou has been reduced to a meme character ever since his arc ended in volume 2. Now two teams are left Asuka and Rei, a topic that hasn't been this divisive since The Last Jedi which for the record is not good. Nevertheless besides waifu wars we get Gendo who's become an absolute King. They turned a went out for a packed of cigarettes father into the father of the year. The series is just plain fun and while it is not the Shakespeare of our time anybody who liked the characters from the original anime series and not the rebuilds would appreciate this series.
Will Shinji Ikari pick who is best girl? Will Gendo ever stop being a king? Will Asuka ever say eh? Tune in next time on Dragon Ball Z... err I mean, Neon Genesis Evangelion The Shinji Ikari Raising Project volume 10.
What I thought of this book is that it was very thrilling and always had some type of problem going on, the book was very constant and never got boring or the plot got off topic.
A ridiculous amount of fan service, especially in the bonus chapters, but it was nice to get some more action scenes and a vague sense that the plot might be slowly wandering towards actually developing.
