Some rules are meant to be broken.

Rule Number One: Never date your best friend’s brother, no matter how insanely hot he is.

But when Ghita needs to save money and her bestie suggests renting a room to her brother, she finds herself dancing dangerously close to the edge of disaster.

Logan Scott, recently free from a toxic relationship, moves to Dallas for his dream job. After meeting his insanely brilliant roomie, he can’t deny his attraction, especially as the chemistry ratchets up between them.

True Confession... The story behind Dear Roomie

Readers often ask us how we dream up our stories. We are inspired by everyday life and have a running list of ideas in a secret Word file. For Dear Roomie, the idea occurred to both of us at the exact same time…like kismet.

A friend of ours told us about this utopian coffee place, La La Land Kind Cafe, where they mentor foster youth aging out of the system. There, kindness is the priority. We visited and were not disappointed by the sunshiny joy that filled the space. https://lalalandkindcafe.com/about/

As we were sipping their signature lavender bloom matcha latte, two college-aged girls sat at the table next to us. Pink sweater said, “I’m dying. I’m in love with Jeremy.” Plaid shirt said, “So? What’s the problem?” Pink sweater answered with the three words that would launch the plot of this book: “He’s my roommate.”

Yes, we are “people watchers” and “coffee shop eavesdroppers.” Don’t judge, we can't help ourselves!
We won’t recount the rest of their conversation because that’s private.

Dear Roomie was the perfect escape. The book draws you in immediately with its two main characters. The writing is clever and spunky and there is never a dull moment in the story. You will be cheering for the dreamy male and female leads whose attraction to each other keeps heating up with every page. The book plays out like a delightful romantic comedy that I could definitely see being made into a movie. I couldn't put this book down!

Thank you to the authors for providing me with an ARC of this book.
There were some lovely elements to the story; Logan was attractive and had good values, Ghita and her family were fun to be around, especially Gemma.
I think when characters don't communicate well and avoid saying what they need to, it annoys me a little. It doesn't reflect on the writing, or the story, it's just one of those niggly things I personally don't love.

Dear Roomie by Michelle Angelle

This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. Ghita on her own was funny with all the crazy rules with men but add her new roomie Logan into the mix and they are a match made in heaven getting from roomie to lover was entertaining to read and how he used his powers of seduction. No doubts they complemented each other in all the ways personality, interest and beliefs. The best part Logan was amazing he passes and exceeds all her crazy ideas. My absolute favorite, because I ALWAYS melt, this man cooks for her and does it well like goes all out 😮‍💨. Her family was amazing what great supportive siblings.

This is one of those easy to read romances, that is pretty predictable all the way through but I absolutely loved it all the way through!
Yes I love my thriller reads, but I love these sorts of books too when I am so tired and my brain won't take in anything too complex - this is literally the perfect antidote.
Flew through it very quickly - would definitely recommend.

Truly enjoy books by this author. There is always a sense of fun and energy. This one was no exception and it built quickly with a fun set up between the two main characters. Their interplay and inner thoughts were hilarious as they struggled to express how they felt. Enjoyed from end to end. Definitely one of the best this author has done.

A favourite Rom Com. Loved the main characters and laughed out loud at some of the other characters and props, including an old recliner and a croutchity cat. If you want an easy and delightful escape with romance all over it, this books for you.

I am not a huge fan of romance, but this one got me from the first page. I adored the characters. Ghita is smart, popular and well off and the creator of an app which helps people find love. But it's a shame it doesn't work for her. Then comes Logan. A totally hot guy with fabulous cooking skills (now what girl wouldn't like that).

The plot was good, a bit slow but I think carried out quite well. My fav aspect of the story is how realistic the characters and the setting were and I could relate to them. Finding love is hard, especially in this day and age. With technology working for us to find our soul mate... sometimes it's not all in the algorithms or written in black and white... sometimes you just have to break the rules and give it a chance!

I became a fan of Michelle Angelle’s when I read Hammer My Heart. Meaning to go back to the beginning of their collection, I was gifted the opportunity to read Dear Roomie. I am so happy I did! I will admit I am a little jealous I can’t be adopted by the Russo clan and participate in game night! Realization of this book being fictional aside, I think I actually broke a record on how quickly I finished it – I could NOT put it down. To even begin to explain how much I adored this family leaves me at a loss for words. Definitely intend to go back and read Gabe and Gloria’s stories (two out of the SEVEN siblings). You want a challenge. Try keeping all seven names straight. If you are looking for lots of laughter, an abundance of family love and support, and of course a swoon worthy love story, you are in for a treat with Dear Roomie.

Everyone has rules that they live by in life – don’t go to bed angry, never double dip your chip, wait three days after a date before calling, etc. For Ghita, her rules for dating were simple – don’t date your best friend’s brother. Well that and don’t date a guy who wears hats in his profile pic, furries – ok she has quite a few rules but the most important is not doing anything that would jeopardize her friendship with Nicole. Easy enough until Nicole and Gemma convince Ghita to rent a room to Nicole’s brother Logan in order to help with the costs of her home renovations. Having never met, seen, or engaged with Logan, she would prefer not to have a stranger in her home (even if it is Nicole’s brother) but her options are a roommate or a loan. Deciding on the lesser of two evils, Ghita is determined to focus on launching her new podcast and getting through this situation unscathed. What she wasn’t expecting was the drop dead gorgeous specimen that was going to be occupying her space. Not a problem – she can do this! She just needs to stick to her rules and keep her hands to herself. Trouble is Logan has other plans. Love struck the moment he met her, Logan knows he and Ghita are perfect together, he just has to prove that he is worth ditching the rules for. Good thing he loves a challenge and if the affections of his gorgeous roommate is the prize, he is all in!

This book had me laughing from the beginning. The insane dates (or recalled dates) that Ghita had been on were absolutely hysterical! Some of the moments she recounts, you just want to hug her and tell her to just forget it and ditch the app (even if she built it!) Her relationship with her family was one to envy and the laughs kept coming when the Russo clan got together. The best moments though were between her and her twin sister Gemma. I really hope the authors keeps going with the siblings and write a story about her. I would love for Gemma to have an HEA, especially with how instrumental she was in Ghita’s.

Speaking of Ghita, the way the authors wrote her character was fantastic. She was smart, funny, gorgeous, successful, and determined. Anything she touched turned to gold. While those features in a man would have made him a catch to any woman, in a woman – they acted as a repellant to most men. Ghita couldn’t catch a break. If her date learned who she was, they were intimidated by her, her independence, and her accomplishments. How sad is that! It just showed the double standard of success between men and women in society.

Which brings me to Logan. Kudos to Michelle Angelle for creating yet another worthy book boyfriend. Logan was just perfect. He was sweet, kind, smart, gorgeous, confident – the list goes on! Add that he could dance, cook, and make repairs around the house and someone is going to have revive me with smelling salts! To resist all of that, Ghita is a stronger woman than I could ever be! It also showed a lot about her character and her values if she was willing to sacrifice that perfect package for the sake of friendship.

In terms of the heat for a contemporary romance, while some books have a tendency to get a bit explicit, Dear Roomie keeps it on the milder side. I would still give it an R rating but just barely. The moments between Logan and Ghita are sweet, soft, and sensual. This book focuses more on the build up and insane sexual tension more so then the moment they actually do get together.

Looking deeper, I enjoyed the philosophy behind the concept of rules. It wasn’t seen as a black or white thing. In more cases than one, rules saved Ghita and/or got her to where she was in terms of her success. They helped her navigate moments in her life where she was uncertain. At the same time, she had to learn that some rules are circumstantial. She witnessed what rules almost took away from her sister Gloria and despite the backlash of breaking a rule, the quick resolve helped her finally accept that some risks were worth taking. That entire fall out was absolutely hilarious. I love how her family handles a crisis!

I can’t wait to go back to the beginning and be introduced to the Russo clan. With Ghita’s story down and two more on deck (Gloria and Gabe from previous books), these authors have a family of gold on their hands and my complete attention for any new books down the line.

"I've lost my mind. I take a long, deep breath. He's Nicole's brother. He's Nicole's brother. That needs to be my new mantra." ~ Ghita, Dear Roomie

The writing duo of Michelle Angelle pens another gem with Dear Roomie. This new book focuses on Ghita Russo's life now that she's made a name for herself and become successful with her App - BFF. While not specifically a dating App, it helps people make connections. Have an extra ticket for the Symphony and want someone to join you? Put it on BFF. Need someone to fly to Palm Springs, CA with you or rather you, your partner and dog (who you'll be watching), want to start a book club, put it on BFF. But it also does have an algorithm for dating. And thousands of people including Ghita's Best Friend, Nicole, have met their Happily Ever After. But not Ghita. She can't even can't get past the first date. Because Ghita has rules. Break one and you're out.

But she's busy launching her next project, Mismatched - a podcast about relationships. She wants to convert part of her home garage into a studio but doesn't want to take out a loan. Bring in best friend Nicole's dreamy brother, Logan, an environmental engineer, conservationist, and surfer/scuba diver who needs a place to stay while getting settled in Dallas. He'll provide the needed cash inflow for the sound studio while getting a nice place to stay. (Just wait till you meet Wilma and Herbert - two very important side "characters".) So, they'll be Roomies.

The chemistry between Logan and Ghita is immediate. On both sides. But then Ghita finds out who she's been flirting with and slams on the brakes. Because Ghita has rules. Rule Number One - you don't date your best friend's brother. It ends badly. She learned that lesson.

But Logan doesn't like her rules. Can he convince her to take a chance on him or will she miss her opportunity because she's too caught up in guarding herself.

This is the second book I've read by the writing duo of Michelle Angelle and I loved this even more than Until Next Year. And I loved that book. I highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've read everything Michelle Angelle has to offer.

Everything.

And there's not a lot of authors that I can say that about! More often than not, I get really bored of a person's writing style and just move on to something else! Not Michelle Angelle, though. These two ladies KNOW how to write a rom-com.

"Dear Roomie" is the latest installment in the Dear Pink series, and we get to experience even more of the wild Russo family. I have always adored the love these people share. It's almost tangible in the way the authors write them. You can just feel the adoration and connections in the Russo family. In this book, you get to taste the twin-telepathy of Ghita and Gemma, and my lord, it cracks me up. I was rolling as soon as we started talking about safe words (orange sandwich? really?!).

But the two characters I instantly fell in love with were Logan and Ghita--obviously. They're the leads! Ghita is an independent woman who takes crap from no one, and I adore her for it. It's nice to have a female lead who isn't seen as weak or needing of rescue (not that there's something wrong with that). Ghita would have been perfectly content to live the rest of her life without love. But in comes Logan! He's a master cook (swoon), an environmentalist (double swoon), and can dance (cue the heart attack). What's not to love?! The banter between these two is to die for!

This is book 3 in Michelle Angelle's Dear Pink series and the first in this series I've been able to read. Definitely can be read as a standalone so no worries! This book focuses on the dating woes of our female lead Ghita. I loved the dating horror stories that are shared (having met my hubby in high school I really can't imagine what it would be like to date nowadays). I found it so sad that Ghita felt the need to live by so many rules, but I completely understand why she wouldn't want her heart broken again. That being said, when the right ones comes along there aren't enough rules in the world to keep you apart. I adored the support system Ghita has with her family and bestie Nicole. A wonderful group of people who surround her with support even with all the crazy antics that seems to happen. A fun scene about safe words, a grumpy cat that can be bribed and a chair with character are just a few of my favorite and memorable things from this book. A great storyline that flows perfectly with just the right amount of sweet and heat and wonderful giggles to be had as well as tidbits of wise wisdom when it comes to love and a HEA.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

I love these two authors! Every book I feel is better than the last. The authors do a great job at creating a light hearted story that still tugs on the emotions. Their characters also have distinctive voices and personalities. I really enjoy that their female leads are always strong, confident women. Yes, Ghita still has doubts and insecurities like a normal person, but I like that at the end of the day, she knows she is awesome and doesn't let anyone put her down. Too often in romantic comedy novels the author chooses to have their female lead be either weak, mean or loose towards men. Ghita could stand on her own, she wanted a partner but didn’t NEED one. Her actions weren’t male driven. That is the difference.

The romance actually is built rather than instant love. I was shown rather than told how Ghita and Logan are a strong couple and should be together. It made for such a fuller, more rounded story. Dear Roomie is a sweet read that leaves the reader satisfied and eager to start the series over. I need to backtrack to the early novels so I can remember all of these people!

I ADORED this story!! Ghita was such a powerhouse and reading about her app and new podcast were so fun. It was such a refreshing concept that the creator of a connection app has trouble finding a connection! And as a single girl who often navigates online dating, her conversation before a first date asking those dealbreakers was SO relatable!

And then we have Logan, who is an environmental loving KING. I loved getting his point of view of the story. The meet cute between these two (after they'd been living together) was so fun. Reading the banter and inevitable relationship between these two was wonderful. There were so many signs and reasons they belonged together, they just needed to get out of their heads, break some rules and follow their hearts.

If you love rom coms (and I mean LOL rom coms), forced proximity, amazing banter, best friends brother, personal growth and an overall love story that will have you laughing and blushing, you NEED to read 'Dear Roomie'

I was given and ARC by the authors, but all opinions and ratings are my own :)

Dear Roomie is a fun and vigorous addition to the Dear Pink series. The many colorful characters from the Russo family return in this third book, which focuses on daughter Ghita and the coincidental twists that bring her both an accidental roommate, Logan, and new understanding of her rules for life which bring her commercial success yet also romantic loneliness. The novel, full of tension and suspense while maintaining a hilarious overview, alternates between Logan’s and Ghita’s points of view. The writing style is concise and direct, all necessary background unfolds subtly, and the dialog rings true. The book is a pleasure to read.

The Russo family, all its numerous offspring having names starting with the letter G., will no doubt provide endless content for future additions to the series. These characters are richly drawn even in supporting roles, and Dear Roomie keeps them all up to date without straining, so that we await their turn to star in future novels.

The writing is the best yet! The pace is great and the characters are distinct and real and lovable. I want to hang out at the Russo's. And it was HOT. Also, I lived in Dallas for 10 years and it's so fun to be in the M streets and specific spots all over town!! Perfect descriptions! I loved the way the protagonist, Logan, showed up on the scene--an ancient Corolla and old recliner in tow. Couldn't wait to meet him in the pages and couldn't put them down once I did! And Ghita made me laugh out loud. Food-play foreplay...yes! Michelle Angelle took me right back to Dear Pink and Until Next Year--both of which I LOVED--through smart reminders tucked here and there throughout. The wedding toasts landed me back on the dock on New Year's! I didn't see the twist coming!!! So clever and made me have to keep going. And the sex...whew. I read the whole thing in one long sitting, and I want to go back to the world's Michelle Angelle create ASAP.

This was the sweetest story!

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book, the first (but not last!) I've read by this author. As a list-making, rule-following cat lover, I adored Ghita. She's a strong and successful woman but also unsure and vulnerable and she's not afraid to be all of these things at once. Ghita struggles to let down her guard and welcome Logan into her home, her life, and eventually her heart. He is the perrrrfect book boyfriend .... kind, patient, funny, and handsome. And, he loves her cat.

Sitting down with Dear Roomie and getting to know Ghita and Logan was a fun, light-hearted (though sometimes serious) experience that left my heart smiling and feeling like all was right with the world.

Now, I have to backtrack to the books I've missed so I can get to know the rest of Ghita's family. The Russo clan is definitely one I want to hang out with!

Ghita Russo has a lot of dating rules, and one of the important one is Do not date your best friends brother. But when Ghita needs to save money and her bestie suggests renting a room to her brother, she finds herself dancing dangerously close to breaking her rule.
Logan Scott has recently moved to Dallas, and can’t deny his attraction towards Ghita. As the heat ratches up between them, will he be able to convince Ghita to break her rules and give them a try ?
Dear Roomie is a fun, and light hearted read that left me with a smile. Ghita and Logan are both smart, funny and determined, Ghita is determined to stay away and Logan to convince her to give them a chance. I loved the Russo clan, they were a hoot and their support system made me wish I was a part of their family.

Rounding up to 5 stars.

Ghita has developed a popular app that brings people together; it works well … for everyone but her. Ghita also has several dating rules (that seem to grow with each chapter … well, not quite 😃)

One of Ghitas rules is to not date friends brothers. So … guess who is her new roommate?

I really enjoyed Dear Pink (the first in the series). I missed book #2 in the series. I don’t feel that I was in the dark by jumping from book 1 to book 3. Also I think that book 3 would be perfectly fine as a stand alone book.

Ghita has a great family and friend network.

I am not sure what Michelle and Angelle’s writing process is, but I think it is wonderful.

A huge thank you to Michelle and Angelle for providing the advance release copy of Dear Roomie! Keep on writing ladies!

I'm no stranger to this author duo and their fun characters with the perfect amount of humor and swoon. Getting to know another member of the Russo family was like going home. Boisterous family game nights and impromptu dinners at the parents' frame this he falls first (or he admits to falling first) rom-com. This is one of those reads that goes faster than you'd like because its ease just draws you in. I also love getting glimpses of the relationships and characters we met in books 1 & 2 of this series, and I hope we get to keep meeting more of the Russo family's plus ones! (Hint hint...Gemma!?!)

The girls have nailed it again!

What a beautiful relaxing family story, full of lovely relationships and kindness and caring for each other.loved how the family members all helped one another when times were tough.
Loved the Roomie friendship and the use of a chair to add to the conversation and ease tensions of their unexpected sparks flying.
Mandy was the character everyone would boo at if it was a panto. Barges in just after a night of passion. Seriously, go home girl.
Good used of another type of addition to illustrate how harmful these scenarios can be.
I couldn't up it down. So funny.

Boy meets girl tales have been done a million times in a thousand ways. So to keep this reader engaged and eager to turn the page, the story must be well written, have developed characters, resonate with the here and now, stir passion and desire — and, yes, I want to feel the love. A lot to ask? Perhaps. But Michelle Angelle’s Dear Roomie does it well. Plus, laughs, conflicts, and a hidden lesson or two are all part of this easy read, making reading it a good way to finish a not so easy day. So kick off your shoes, put on you PJs, pour yourself a glass of wine, and enjoy this light, fun, and sexy escape into true love.

What I Did Like:
+The first chapter sets up Ghita really well. Just from this one interaction you know who she is and what she wants. It’s a great opener, even if I did want to drop kick Seth (don’t worry, he doesn’t hang around).
+Adorable romance. Slow burn, I-don’t-want-to-want-you-but-I-do relationship. Great couple of characters.
+Love the banter with the family members!

Who Should Read This One:
-Romcom fans. This is a cute one with good characters.

While I love a good romance, sometimes it's the characters' community that really pulls my heartstrings. Let's call it the Nora Roberts effect - the places, the people, their connections - that's really what keeps me turning the pages. The Russo family in Dear Roomie, and the previous books, is the reason I will keep up with this series. I love them, I love their game nights, their b-b-q's, their family celebrations, their ride-or-die-ness. The main characters hit all of the right notes for a solid romance, but the Russo clan is who I really want to be in a relationship with!

Cute rom com that is fresh with the times of social media and dating apps. Romance is not my usual favorite genre to read but I thought I’d give this one a try and ended up enjoying the story even though you obviously know how it’s going to end. Ghita is beautiful and single even though an app she created pairs others up to find the one, it never seems to work for her. Her best friends brother needs a place to stay temporarily and of course he is drop dead gorgeous. What ensues is a cute story of awkwardness and rule breaking that shows you can never follow all the rules in dating.

I read Dear Roomie in one sitting. I could not put it down. The dialogue was witty and engaging, and the chemistry between Logan and Ghita was believable and sexy. I hope they plan on doing a book for all the sisters...I want Gemma next! ;)

Warning: there are a couple of sex scenes, but they are more on the sweet side than the steamy side. I actually found them to be very romantic and intimate scenes.

Ghita & Logan have great chemistry! The story is sweet and original, but what matters most is that you care about them getting together! The dialogue feels real, which is a plus in a dreamy-sweet rom-com<3 Plus, we get more of the Russo family (Ghita’s family)! The writers are thoughtful in their world-building & include perfect little details like Wilma (Logan’s chair) and Herbert (Ghita’s portly cat). It’s a great read - I recommend the entire series (Dear Pink & Until Next Year)!!

This was such a lovely read. A real feel good, smart, delectable romantic story with likeable characters and just the right amount of tension, without it dragging on for too long. I love the start of this book with some true comedic moments between Ghita and Logan, or rather before they meet where Ghita bumps into Wilma, a scruffy ‘character’ that seems to want to attack her in her own home.
I highly recommend this book, perfect for light entertainment.

A light hearted read that'll make you smile and leave you in a happy mood when finished.
It's light on the drama which makes it the perfect feel good book.
Girl meets boy, boy moves in as roommate and sexual tension evolves. Girl has rules against dating best friend brothers, but might break this rule for a chance at soulmate love.
