I'm not a stylist and don't really have any interest in being a stylist, so I don't think this book was for me anyway. I picked it up because I do enjoy fashion and watching celebrity red carpet coverage and things like that.
The book does seem to have a lot of information about what starting out in the business is like, but I'm not sure how helpful it would be to someone looking to get into it. I think if I were interested, reading this would make me decide not to pursue it. A lot of their advice for how to get into the business was basically to already be rich and have connections because they mention you'll be expected to be okay with working for little to no pay for years.
I think the book also claims to be useful for average women who want to get fashion tips. I don't see it in the description anymore, but I remember seeing it somewhere when I bought it. There really weren't many parts that talked about that. If there were it was just very basic stuff.
A lot of the information is also assuming you're already working in NYC or LA. To be fair, this is where most celebrity stylists would likely be working, but it's not especially interesting to read through tons of recommendations for places in those cities if you don't live there.
The only part I really found entertaining was the section where they went over past bad red carpet outfits. That was more what I was looking for from this book.

This book was truly informative about the inside world of a stylist and their career path. I had found it while looking for an extended text for a school passion project based upon the importance of fashion stylists, and continued to use it to gain data for my research. It help me advance my knowledge on the subject, being highly informative about their profession, but not so much about fashion itself.
It ends up showing stories of Sasha's past experiences with a few fashion tips here and there. Mostly the book consisted of information of a stylist’s career and their impact in society. It goes on to show their importance through interviews with stylists, stories, pictures, and real life application in which stylists have shaped people’s personal style, and their views on fashion. Points and qualities one needs to possess in order to be successful in the styling industry are revealed, and continues to express the reality of the career, not just the glamourous side of it. As for the writing itself, it turned out to be very engaging, and humorous, making it quite enjoyable to read.
Altogether, the book is very useful for those who are interested in finding out about the reality of a fashion stylist’s profession and their positive effects on the fashion world!

Great read for a high school or middle school student interested in becoming a stylist just to the female stars. Bit thin on actual knowledge and too heavy on photos.

what a waste of papers! Don't expect any advice but newspapers articles that will tell you to be yourself, follow fashion and take abuse from your seniors to make it big!!
The most enjoyable reads were those tales told by well established stylists . However some of them are over the top ( I made Cate Blanchet ? Who are are you! She made her marks through her talent. )
Funny that the book has a chapter dedicated to fashion crimes, but these mistakes are respected because of the boldness !!

Interesting for fans of fashion, celebrities and stylists. More like an overlong magazine article but a quick fun read.

More about career info for stylists rather than fashion pointers. If you're interested in becoming a stylist, then this is the book for you. I did learn the essential nature of shape wear though!
