Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
3.5 As much as I love this series, this one the ending felt rushed. It had such a big build up with Nick's father, and Jason's struggles. That it was All wrapped up to quickly. Also part of the situation from bk 13 is handled quickly. IMO I wish it was a little longer, I would liked to seen some of the stuff that happened off pages, like when Dr. Nick sees Heaven (from bk 13) for the first time etc.
This was book 14 in the "Brac Pack" series. Dr. Nicholas Sheehan's father has always controlled his life he told his father that he was gay and he told him to suck it up because it didn't fit into the plan he picked his career and even a woman for him to marry. Becky his fake fiancé knew he was gay I liked her when these two go to a club looking for a hook up Nicholas meets a guy named Brent who was rough and almost raped him. Malonee is covered in red bumps and the whole house is freaking out they don't know what to do about human diseases she has the chicken pox so Maverick calls Dr. Nicholas who turns out to be Jason's mate. Jason is a gray wolf who Zeus sent to take Jasper's place he feels like he is the ugly duckling because he has scares thanks to the former Alpha Jackson who would beat him and put silver in the wounds. I felt back hearing Jason's story his father kept him locked up from the world. When Nicholas is almost attacked at the hospital he calls Maverick and the warriors to come get him turns out rogues are after blood he took from Malonee. Jason claims Nicholas in the back seat of Tank's truck and it was hot these two like to do it no matter where they are or who is in the room they were in the kitchen while George was cooking Maverick has walked in. It was funny Cecil and the mates go sneaking around the house to catch them and find them in the library. This was a really good book Nicholas was able to get Jason the loner of the house to open up. Nicholas also gets the courage to stand up to his father and Maverick gets him a job at the medical center. I also liked that Murdock and Heaven had twins boys and how Murdock handled it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
While the characters held my attention and the sex was hot (if somewhat improbable at times), Nicholas's hesitancy about being his own man made me yell at him to 'grow up'. To find him that dependent on a father who was emotionally abusive and totally over the top was a bit hard to believe. But, it did make for an interesting story.
Jason was totally adorable. I really felt for him. Finding out the reason for his being so withdrawn was interesting and I rooted for him the whole way. Makes me wish the book had been longer, so we could see more details.

Lynn Hagen's Brac Pack collection delivers yet another tantalizing tale this time with "Dr. Nicholas Sheehan and Jason Colt." This M/M Omegaverse story captures the essence of insta-love in a world where werewolves and humans intertwine, creating a rich, steamy narrative that is impossible to put down.
From the moment Dr. Nicholas Sheehan steps into the house of Maverick Brac, he’s confronted with a pull he cannot resist. Living under the oppressive thumb of his father, Dr. William Sheehan, Nicholas is suffocating under expectations that aren’t his own. His father even goes as far as to choose a fiancée for him. Yet, all these plans crumble when Nicholas meets Jason Colt, a grey wolf in a den of timber wolves, scarred both inside and out.
Jason Colt’s life has been one of isolation and pain. Traded off by Alpha Zeus like a piece of old clothing, Jason is filled with self-doubt and a sense of unworthiness, seeing himself as an ugly duckling amidst swans. His physical and emotional scars, inflicted by his abusive former Alpha Jackson, make it hard for him to understand why someone as gorgeous as Nicholas would want to be by his side. Jason’s struggle with his self-image and his past wounds is heart-wrenching, yet it's the foundation upon which this beautiful love story is built.
One of the standout aspects of this book is the bold exhibitionism displayed by Nicholas and Jason. Their chemistry is palpable, and their steamy encounters, no matter the place or audience, add a layer of excitement and humor to the story. It’s endearing how the other wolve’s mates in the mansion become voyeurs, eagerly searching out the pair’s clandestine escapades. This playful element provides comic relief and deepens the connection between the characters, making their love even more genuine and relatable.
Nicholas's decision to quit working for his father at the hospital marks a significant turning point in the story. It’s a powerful act of defiance that symbolizes his desire to break free from his father’s control and to choose his own path, a path that leads straight to Jason. This move adds depth to Nicholas's character, showing his determination to prioritize his own happiness and well-being.
The narrative doesn’t shy away from addressing serious themes. Nicholas’s father, Dr. William Sheehan, and Jason’s previous Alpha, Jackson, are portrayed in a way that elicits strong emotions from the reader. Their harsh treatment of Nicholas and Jason makes it all the more satisfying when the two find solace in each other. The moral of this story—that everyone can be loved, and it’s okay to heal your inner scars even if the outer ones remain—is profoundly moving.
This book is a perfect example of the M/M Omegaverse genre, intertwining elements of paranormal romance with the raw intensity of physical and emotional healing. The insta-love aspect feels natural and compelling, pulling the reader into the whirlwind of Nicholas and Jason’s connection. The steamy scenes are a testament to their passion, making the book not just a romance, but an exploration of love in its most intense and primal form.
Overall, this was a 10 out of 10 read for me. The story of Dr. Nicholas Sheehan and Jason Colt is not just a tale of love; it’s a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Lynn Hagen has crafted a narrative that is both hot and heartwarming, reminding us all that love has the power to heal, no matter how deep the scars.

When Nick answers a call to Maverick’s house, the Alpha of the Brac Pack, to treat a little girl with the chicken pocks, he finds himself mated to Jason. Jason is a werewolf who is broken by a past that has stunted his social skills. Luckily, Nick thinks he’s the perfect man to brink the gorgeous wolf out of his shell, especially now that he has the perfect opportunity to start a new life away from his overbearing father.
Jason has had a hard life. He grew up with nothing and no one to love him, so when Nicholas comes along and he finally has something that belongs solely to him, he goes a little overboard with his protectiveness and possessiveness, which was actually rather sweet to read about. My problem with this story is that there was no real depth to Lynn Hagen’s characters. I know that Jason grew up isolated by his father, abused by his first alpha and ignored by everyone else, but that’s it really. I’m sympathetic towards him as a character but when the MCs spend 1/3 of the book apart and then only really have 50 odd pages to get together, discover each other and fall in love, I didn’t really feel enough of a connection to the characters.
Nicholas is a doctor and we’re told he’s very compassionate. He doesn’t want to live in a big city and work in an impersonal hospital because he’d rather be a small town practitioner. But we’re told all of this, added to the fact that Nicholas probably falls in love with Jason faster than the wolf does with his fated mate and his reactions to everything just seemed to be a smile and it also felt like there was something missing character wise. He’s 35 years of age but I was actually rather surprised to hear that. He doesn’t act like a 35 year old man, even if he does seem mature since he’s a doctor.
The only thing that really seemed to define them as people was their exhibitionist streak, which I found rather hard to believe considering how possessive Jason was of Nick. But I guess Lynn Hagen had to add something different to this couple and she decided that was going to be it. Even if it didn’t make any sense considering their personalities.
Though it may not sound like it, I did enjoy this new instalment to the Brac Pack series and hopefully what I felt was missing in this one I’ll find in the next one.
Jason who was abused in his old pack and ends up with nothing to his name and poor compared to the Brac pack wolves gets the richest, most intelligent, brilliant doctor and good looking mate. Theirs is a sexy relationship. I love how Nicholas is the level headed wordly one because he gets to protect Jason too. Lynn Hagen really pairs them up perfectly. Like Johnny and Hawk; Mark and Caden; Josh and Law.
This volume was a better one again (even if I could have done without the near the end; but at least we got that over with now).
In this case the public sex actually really, really worked. XD They just seriously kept forgetting everything around them, oblivious to the fun reactions the others had, and never shy about it afterwards. I liked that here the wolf and top was the fragile one, at least emotionally. It was really sweet to see Nicholas introduce happiness into his life. Nicholas was, in fact, pretty awesome. Here we had an actually intelligent man, not just one supposed to be smart. It showed in his quick comprehension of fragmented elements. Also he was just too sweet and wonderfully determined to get and keep his wolf. A bit of a turnaround, which I enjoyed.
I only have four volumes left, although one more has been released and another is planned. With how fast I tear through them, that’s not much. They’re not exactly short stories; at least they don’t have that feel. As for word count, yeah, they’d be novellas at the most. But because the author likes to skip scenes (which I now like, for some reason; sometimes it’s just enough and better than to have to trudge through predictable stuff, as long as it’s not the skipping from the first few volumes, which simply ignored whole issues and had them resolved off-screen) the story told is longer than the telling. If that makes sense. Sure, the sex scenes and little-mate-exploit plots pad things up again, but since these things are abbreviated too it does not add hugely.
And yeah, the sex scenes are often entirely superfluous, but at least the emotional component is there. Probably way too exaggerated but again, it kinda works. I still skim over them when it gets near the end and things are already resolved, i.e. nothing new comes up during those scenes.
2012 Re-read Project:
I went and did it. I re-read all the connected series by Lynn Hagen, this time in order of publication date, as recommended, which sadly does not ensure actual chronologicality. That’s twenty-nine books of moderate length, spanning three series (with more to spin off).
I’ll put my thoughts in spoiler tags since I plan to paste this into the end of each review covered here. There are no actual spoilers, so feel free to read this for a general idea of the series.
I absolutely loved this book in the Brac Pack series. I truly appreciated how the romance between Nicholas and Jason didn't drag out or take so long to begin (and how easily Nicholas adapted to the situation). So many portions of the story were filled with the character's witty banter and I just loved it. It also had it's sad, dangerous, and steamy moments, which were basically very impressive and engrossing. :)
Pues definitivamente la narración ha ido madurando. Ahora, la lectura es más fluida y se entiende lo que quiere transmitir la autora.
Amé a Nicholas y Jason. Hasta ahora creo que son mi pareja favorita. Los bebés de Heaven y Murdock deseo verlos más en el próximo libro. Y me quedé intrigada por lo que dijo el doctor de los lobos, así que voy por el siguiente.

I've been curios about Dr. Shehaan story for a long time now, thank God his story doesn't dissapoint me at all with horny as hell wolf who met his match and a touch of voyeurism kink.
I really liked this one, which was surprising because I wasn't really intrigued by Jason when he was introduced. He was definitely withdrawn and far removed from the rest of the sentries, and we didn't see much of him in the previous books - he was very rarely mentioned. I do remember that he seemed upset when Zeus told him to be loyal to his new Alpha, Maverick - that was a good hint at his discontent, and I was assured this ties up to the rest of the books nicely.
I loved the relationship between Jason and Nicholas; I felt like out of all the books in this series, this is the most solid and their relationship has the most equals feeling to it. Jason is the wolf but he's scared and shy and he has a lot of insecurities - a fascinating contrast to his strength as a were creature. He's terrified, but he wants his mate, although at first he pushes him away. On the other hand, Nicholas is human but he's got guts and nerves and despite what his father has done to him, he's still able to love and keep an optimistic view of the world, and it's what makes him the perfect mate to Jason.
I thought the two of them really complemented each other well, and it was nice to see a balance in their relationship that wasn't there in the other books. Jason doesn't treat Nicholas like a child, and for his part, Nicholas doesn't hesitate to stand up for himself and assure Jason that he wants to be there. I was actually moved by Nicholas' attempts at getting his wolf to smile and be more comfortable with himself; I thought it was exactly what Jason needed to heal from what had been done to him in the past.
Although I could have done without the scene of Heaven giving birth to his twins (and let's admit it, the whole exhibitionist trick was so *odd*), I have to say this book is my favorite in this series so far, and I hope I get to read more well-balanced human-and-wolf-mates relationship. Reading this one makes me really hopeful for Hagen's next stories.
I know I said that I will go to the first book of this series but I think I might skip around this series because some of the preview of some of the book in this series catch my interested and this is one of them.
The story is about Jason, the only gray wolf in the pack, and his a has a past so terrible that he is always remind of it by looking at his body because there are scars all over it. When Melene, hope I got her name right, caught a small cause of the chickenpox they call in Dr. Nicholas, an human doctor, to check her out. Once there Jason knew that Nicholas is his mate and he gone all wolfs when he think his mate is in danger. However, Jason does not think for one second that he deserve this beautiful man as his mate cause not only is he not good-looking like the rest of the pack but his body his cover in his shame and he does not want Nicholas to look at his body. Will Nicholas convince him otherwise that he does not care about his look and just want to be with him or will Jason pride and shame keep him away from the first happiness that he will ever get for his whole life.
I like the romance between them and the struggle that Jason has to go through in order to convince himself that he does deserve some happiness and it happen to be his mate Nicholas. However, I find the whole thing going way to fast and there were time when I'm like "wait, where this come from or what happen here." Also there was a cliffhanger when we get to find out what is the reason why the rouge vampire and wolf shifter were attacking the pack that is was so not funny and for those who follow mw know that I hate cliffhanger. I'll see what I'll do with this series but it look like I might skip around with this series.
Well, I delved into the Bracverse a 2nd time and now there are 121 books - yikes! I loved this Universe the first time I read it several years ago and now I love it more, I really do, but I've only been able to read these series (and I have expanded to all the books that are currently out in each): Brac Pack Christian's Coven Zeus's Pack Demon Warriors The Exiled
These are the series that start the Universe. Reading them in order is a must. Each book has it's own love story but there is an underlying story that plays out throughout them all. As you get towards the end of these series, other series come into play and I noticed that, since I did not read them, I missed some of the characters being mentioned (good and bad) but I was still able to follow because the main ones stay the same.
One day I WILL buy these and read them all!!! (For the correct order, just look on the Internet for Lynn Hagen Reading Order): Brac Village Shadow Tribe BPNG (Brac Pack Next Generation - Brac Pack kids) The Remus Brothers Wolves of Desire
I just finished reading Nicholas's Wolf and I must say I was disappointed. The book started off promising. It seemed like the characters were really going to have depth and a nice back story, then she just glossed over certain things and ended the book. Wow, major let down. The birth scene at the end when Heaven had the pups.... oh that's right there wasn't one! Oh what about the scene where she explained what Jason did for the old Alpha of the Eastern Pack...? That didn't happen either. Ok, what about when she explained in detail what his scars looked like and why the now deceased Alpha gave them to him? There's a theme here. Anything that required too much writing she glossed over and gave a nice happy ending with no explanation! Uh! This may be my last Friday read from Lynn Hagen.

typical lynn hagen serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical lynn hagen? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).
out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by : lynn hagen stormy glenn scarlett hyacinth carol lynne gabrielle evans
unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.
While this book was practically one long sex scene with some humour thrown in here and there, at least the sex was well written!
Quite unlike a lot of other paranormal romance erotic authors (both m/f and m/m), who have a tendency to just scratch the surface when it comes to their sex scenes. Which is just plain boring.
But I have to agree with that the ending seemed rushed and generally the whole m/m pregnancy that is going on seems sort of far fetched. But, at least there is some sort of explanation this time! - again, unlike other authors who play around with the same thing and forget to explain how it is possible.
I have to say that Lynn Hagen is one my favorite authors of all time!! When I first bought my Nook, I saw her books advertised, but always put off reading them, then I purchased Maverick's Mate and I've been hooked ever since!! I have now read every single book Lynn has written and eagerly await and devour any thing that she writes!! I have even repurchased ALL of her books when I moved from the Nook to the Kindle!! Thank you Lynn for providing me with so many hours of enjoyment and pleasure!! YOU ROCK!!!
Another shifter fast read. Brief mpreg scene. Be aware if you don't want to read mpreg.
I forgot about Jason! I'm so excited to see him get his happy story. As we learn in this book his life was bad in the Eastern pack. Also, it's great that Brac pack gains their own doctor in Jason's mate. Nicholas is great for Jason. He helps heal Jason's hurts.
I said Heaven and Murdock would be busy and now we know they will have their hands twice as full.
