Brac Pack #18

Joshua's Law

Rate this book
[Siren Everlasting Classic Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, werewolves] Joshua Tate has always sashayed through life, just having fun and taking care of his little brother, Taylor. He enjoyed who he was until he talked to his Mom, his own personal critic, who is happy to remind him off all of his shortcomings. Law Santiago loves his brothers. The only problem is the fact that they tease him to no end about his preference for playing bottom. It's a sore subject—and one he wishes they would forget. Law finally finds his mate, and he's perfect in every way. Unfortunately, Law and Joshua are both full of self-doubt from their families' ridicule. Can these two help each other accept who they are, or will the constant interruptions—from family, vampires, and elves who have it out for Law's mate—keep them from the perfect life? Each book in Lynn Hagen's Brac Pack collection features a different romantic couple. Each title stands alone and can be read in any order. However, we recommend reading the series in sequential order. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

This was book 18 in the "Brac Pack" series it was a short quick read that I liked. Joshua Tate has always sashayed through life, just having fun and taking care of his little brother Taylor. Law meets his mate at a fast food place. I hated Joshua and Taylor's mother she was something else. Both Joshua and Law have self-esteem problems Law from his brothers making fun of him and Joshua from his mother who is crazy. These two were perfect for each other Law liked to bottom and Joshua was hung so it worked out well it made the sex scenes in this book hot. We also learn that Josh is part vampire and he can get pregnant which was funny when Law found out. I love reading this series each book focuses on a different couple as I am writing this review I have read have read the next book already and I am trying not to give any spoilers away. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

Lynn Hagen has done it again! I love, love, love this series. We finally got to see what happens when someone is changed into a vampire. I so wanted to belt Josh and Taylor's mother over the head with a brick by the end of this book. I felt Josh's reaction in this book were very real and I could relate to him on so many levels. Once again I look forward to the next one!

I liked this book because the characters as well as their relationship were slightly unusual. Joshua was adorable and the contrast between his behavior in and out of the bedroom was quite amusing. He also cracked me up several times and I could feel his pain and longing for someone to love him. Law was the perfect mate, even if he had his own issues to fight. He was always there for Joshua and was great at accepting him for who he was.

The mother was way overdone and really annoyed me, the development in the overall storyline and some of the revelations were interesting and Josh's younger brother, Taylor, will hopefully be next...

I hated how Josh was made fun of by everyone and treated shabbily by his mom. His ending up with Law was wonderful. Perfect example of DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK by it's cover. Josh has a big butt, wears nail polish,make-up and carries a purse but likes to top. Law is a huge bearded biker who has protective instincts and cherishes his mate but likes to bottom. It was just so cute!

This is the best one in the series so far and my favorite. It didn't have any odd head-scratching moments. I really enjoyed Joshua with his manpurse, lip gloss, nail polish and daisy dukes. He was the top to Law's bottom and they complimented each other.

A premise that didn't deliver for me. Also there is writing a fem male character, and then there is writing a male character like a 13 yo teenager girl. And the later is exactly what Joshua is.

Review of Brac Pack 18: Joshua's Law

"Brac Pack 18: Joshua's Law" by Lynn Hagen is a captivating addition to the Brac Pack collection that seamlessly blends the elements of the Omegaverse, paranormal romance, and M/M insta-love. This book is a compelling narrative that highlights themes of self-discovery, acceptance, and the power of love.

From the very beginning, I was drawn into the world of Joshua Tate, a vibrant character who exudes confidence despite the constant criticism from his mother. His unwavering support for his little brother, Taylor, is heartwarming and adds depth to his character. Joshua’s journey of self-acceptance is a poignant thread throughout the story, and his interactions with his mate, Law Santiago, are filled with genuine emotion and intensity.

Law Santiago is an equally engaging character, whose love for his brothers and the teasing he endures about his preferences create a relatable and realistic portrayal of internal and external struggles. His meeting with Joshua is an instant connection, a classic hallmark of the M/M insta-love trope that is beautifully executed in this story. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their relationship evolves in a way that is both tender and passionate.

The Omegaverse aspect is intricately woven into the plot, adding layers of complexity to the characters and their interactions. Joshua and Law’s journey is not just about finding love but also about overcoming the insecurities instilled by their families. The way they support and uplift each other is a testament to the strength of their bond.

Hagen masterfully incorporates elements of the paranormal genre, with vampires, werewolves, elves, fey, and demons enriching the narrative and creating a fantastical backdrop that enhances the romance. The constant interruptions and challenges from various supernatural beings add an element of suspense and excitement, keeping the reader engaged throughout.

The world-building is exquisite, with vivid descriptions and a well-developed setting that draws you into the Brac Pack universe. Each character, whether main or secondary, adds value to the story, making it a rich and immersive reading experience.

"Joshua's Law" is a standalone story within the Brac Pack collection, but reading it in sequential order adds to the enjoyment as you become more familiar with the recurring characters and overarching themes. This M/M Omegaverse romance is a beautiful tale of love, acceptance, and finding strength in vulnerability.

In conclusion, "Brac Pack 18: Joshua's Law" is a must-read for fans of M/M insta-love stories and paranormal romance. Lynn Hagen has crafted a narrative that is both heartwarming and thrilling, making it a standout addition to the genre.

I liked how Law was able to give himself to Josh and still be able to feel like a man when so many in the series can't seem to, or just don't want to do that. It was a different dynamic - only every before with George and Tank.

Me gustó principalmente la parte en la que ambos personajes se aceptaron completamente el uno al otro, y a ellos mismos.

A femme twink with a big dick? Yeah, very perfect for Law. No matter what bad shit Joshua's mom said to him, Joshua still loved her and I think that's admirable.

2011 Review:

Alrighty. I managed to read book 18 and 19 in a row. Which is kinda good since 17 to 19 are about three brothers and all. It also sets up a change of premise (really outsourcing for protagonists now) and sets up the next volume, albeit not terribly near to the den.

As far as I am concerned, this volume (18) is one the better one in the entire series, despite the fact that . But since the couple in question seemed very set on not making it happen I guess it does not actually matter.
I definitely liked this story – mostly because of Law’s fascination with all things Josh, and because it beautifully shook up preconceived notions.

2012 Re-read Project:

I went and did it. I re-read all the connected series by Lynn Hagen, this time in order of publication date, as recommended, which sadly does not ensure actual chronologicality. That’s twenty-nine books of moderate length, spanning three series (with more to spin off).

I’ll put my thoughts in spoiler tags since I plan to paste this into the end of each review covered here. There are no actual spoilers, so feel free to read this for a general idea of the series.

And all this hysteria because he is "female" again. The series needs a character that speaks turkey with these guys and at least states that this is not more freaky than the rest. However I doubt that since none of the supernatural characters actually act like being so old as stated in the books.
And I don't like it that Mrs. Hagen lumps the more mature humans in the same pot as those immature dwarves (mainly Cecil, Johnny, the two Japanese guys and Nero), she makes overgrown kids out of them, and then again she does the same with the warriors.
Despite how nice Law in general is, I can't help but think that at least a part of him sees Josh as his property. But it was good to finally see a warrior that likes to catch and Laws situation shows that these chimp-wolves actually think less of their mates, respectively regard them a lower status because they bottom. For them being big means you are a top and being small a bottom. Some strong female should come along and beat the shit out of 90 percent of the Bracs.

Well, I delved into the Bracverse a 2nd time and now there are 121 books - yikes! I loved this Universe the first time I read it several years ago and now I love it more, I really do, but I've only been able to read these series (and I have expanded to all the books that are currently out in each):
Brac Pack
Christian's Coven
Zeus's Pack
Demon Warriors
The Exiled

These are the series that start the Universe. Reading them in order is a must. Each book has it's own love story but there is an underlying story that plays out throughout them all. As you get towards the end of these series, other series come into play and I noticed that, since I did not read them, I missed some of the characters being mentioned (good and bad) but I was still able to follow because the main ones stay the same.

One day I WILL buy these and read them all!!! (For the correct order, just look on the Internet for Lynn Hagen Reading Order):
Brac Village
Shadow Tribe
BPNG (Brac Pack Next Generation - Brac Pack kids)
The Remus Brothers
Wolves of Desire

This one showed a lot of stereotyping. It is implied that Law isn't manly for "playing" the bottom. It means that all the mates are unmanly in their eyes. In that case, go and find yourselves women! They make fun of him for being versatile (which isn't unusual), so what do they think of their mates? I'd kick all their asses :D

This books makes us believe that a big, manly guy being the bottom is extremely unusual, strange, out of the ordinary etc. Like your preferences are decided by your looks. Big men only top, small men only bottom. Since Josh is so feminine he would never want to top. It is actually bigoted and discriminating.

Other than that I enjoyed reading it. Could have been a 3-4 star for an easy read.

Bottom Boy

This is a story of uncertainty and courage. Courage to be who you are. To own your uniqueness. Something that is difficult when you are subject to family ridicule. After a while it takes its toll. These two mates had self esteem issues to overcome. There is so much action, twists, turns, and shocks.

This is a story of brotherly love. What wouldn't you do for your brother? But brothers can be harsh critics - often unintentionally inflicting pain - a hurt that's hard to let go of. There is some maturity that needs to be demonstrated despite the ages of these brothers.

Just because they did something the same way for so long, it doesn't mean behavior can't be changed based on changing circumstances.

unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.

I just loved Josh. He's a man who knows exactly what he likes about himself and is unwilling to change it to conform to what people expect of him. I also liked Law quite a bit as well. He not only accepts Josh as he is, he appreciates Josh just as he is. It was also nice to see one of the warriors not being so 'Alpha' in the bedroom. The story itself remains a little weak and the characters (Josh's mother) are over the top in their nastiness but I did enjoy this book overall.

Brac Universe #18

A short read but longer than any in the series so far. Warning if you don't like mpreg.

Joshua is perfect for Law. He helps his shifter heal by accepting Law just as he is. In turn Law does the same for Josh and helps him through dealing with the changes that happen to him in this story.

My favorite part it's Joshua telling Law's brother Tryck "Words. Hurt!" It's so true and I love that it's a mate defending his shifter. Mates are strong in their own way.

Similar to the rest of the series. I liked the dynamic of the smaller man being top. The mates are still really fun:)
