i finally gave up on my (unethical) plan to steal this book from the u.c. b---- library and forked over the money (gulp) on amazon. wow, so totally worth it! harold searles is my new psychologist-hero! way, way ahead of his time and also FROM UPSTATE NY! sorry friends, i've already left this book to aaron kraft in my will...

Searles' first book, 1960. A fascinating one. I finish it with a strong sense of the nonhuman components of my own personality. Alarming, slightly, like the truth often is, but illuminating. We are strange creatures indeed. Read all of Searles' books, they're all fantastic.
