His Winter Rose was a book I picked up at a yard sale many years ago and just now got around to reading. It was just meh for me. It had promise but the two main characters were annoying.
Piper moves back to Serenity Bay after losing her husband to cancer. She starts working for the town to bring more businesses in to help the town from dying. The mayor, Jason, hires her but has much trouble trusting her. He micromanages which infuriates her. Can they save the town and themselves?
This is part of a trilogy and I’m on the fence if I will continue the series.
It wasn't fantastic. The characters were both kind of annoying control freaks with serious trust issues and there was some pretty inconsistent character development. There were also some inconsistencies with the timeline. It still served its purpose as a light romance to pass the time, but there are definitely better ones out there.
Some people move to a small country town to start over, but this story reminds us that even people in small towns have pasts that need healing. Lois Richer invites readers to fall in love with Serenity Bay.
Mayer Jason Franklin has been hurt by his closest friend. Piper Langley is now a widow, estranged from the rest of her family. Will Serenity Bay help them both? Can they develop the Bay area with out making it a trashy tourist site?
I enjoyed reading this book. It really had a very special twist and it makes one realize that someone you trust so much is sometimes the person that is causing a lot of hard ache. Jealousy can be a very nasty thing.
