Ok this book is heartbreaking. One tragedy after the other and yet it’s beautifully written. I do wish the ending was slightly happier but then again that may not have worked so well with the story. Either way, you’ll need tissues with this book.
This wa s a nice story about Rebecca Lawson, who lost her parents during the war and after the war she went to live with her Aunt and Uncle in their East End Pub wher she worked as a barmaid. One night she met Ian Beresford and they fell in love. After one night together Rebecca found herself pregnant and when she went to look for Ian because she had not heard from him she found out he had been killed at a football match. Rebecca then had to let her Aunt and Uncle know that she was pregnant. She decided to keep the baby. After that she met Johnny, who had been a friend of Ian's who wanted to marry her to give Anna a father but Rebecca had met David, a doctor, who held her heart.
