Young, Hung and Hitched

When Jordon discovers that his partner of two years, Aaron, has been offered a new job and he'll have to move from Portland, Oregon to New Orleans the day after their impending wedding, Jordon experiences mixed emotions. He's proud of Aaron's promotion and he wants to support him, but moving to New Orleans is the last thing he ever expected he'd do. And that's because he lived there once before. He went to college in New Orleans and started his first restaurant in the Ninth Ward. But he was also one of the refugees who had to be evacuated from a rooftop by helicopter and taken to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina, which left him traumatized in more ways than one.

After Jordon reluctantly agrees to move back to New Orleans, he devises a plan that will give them both the honeymoon of their dreams and a safe haven once they reach New Orleans. He talks Aaron into buying a brand new Silverstream trailer so they can travel the country and stop at gay campgrounds throughout the Southwest on their way to New Orleans. The entire road trip will take most of the summer, and by the time they reach New Orleans, Jordon is hoping his beautiful new trailer will provide a sense of safety and stability when it's time to face his demons head on.

The trouble is neither one of them has ever camped before. They don't know a trailer hitch from a trailer brake. Will the stress of getting married, moving to a new city, and learning to handle a huge trailer all at the same time ruin them or make them stronger? And more important, do they love each other enough to overlook the individual flaws and shortcomings that make them both so unique?

Amusingly adorable. Cracked me up. Probably one of Field's better stories (IMO) despite the unappealing cover and title. But really great light-hearted humor.

So-this is a well-written established couple whose characterization really earned the majority of my stars for the way their relationship was positively portrayed. It was a nice for a change without the all-too-common dramatic soap-plots. We follow them through a sweet wedding and the newlywed's purchase of a Silverstream motor home for their honeymoon and eventual residential relocation.

Sweet and amusing little story.

Well if you've watched the old movie, "The Long Long Trailer" starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, then you know how this book starts and ends. It is almost exactly the same except instead of Tacy (Lucille Ball) and Nicky (Desi Arnaz), we have Jordon who fills the roll of Tacy and Aaron who fills the roll of Nicky. I highly recommend the movie it's one of my favorites and you can get it on amazon in the dvd format for under $10.
The book goes...They are going to be married, Jordon comes up with the idea to buy a Silverstream Trailer to travel in for their honeymoon. The Silverstream he saw the add for is not what he expects and they end up buying the biggest. Like the movie, their old car isn't able to pull the trailer, so in the movie they buy a Lincoln and in the book they buy a Porsche Cayenne. In the movie, they tell them to watch how much weight they put in the trailer, so later in the movie Tacy is saving rocks from each place they visit. In the book,Jordon is a chef so he buys vintage iron skillets and crock pots.
I have to admit I have come back and edited this as I was really upset when I finished the book. It pissed me off that this book so closely followed the long long trailer. Now that I've read the author's page here, it say that he does parodies of movies. Well he is right on with this one. It doesn't raise my rating as I think there could be more thought and less following of the movie. With that said, I'm not suggesting that you don't read the book. If you've never seen the movie, then read the book. You may enjoy it. Watch the movie, you may also enjoy it. Don't stop reading Ryan Field's books as you may enjoy them very much. I have more of his books that I want to read, so just because this one that doesn't hit my buttons doesn't mean that the next one won't hit all my buttons. Happy Reading!!!

See all the other honest reviews.
Oké so this is a parody. Problem is it's so outdated. So why write a parody when you can not make it of this time?
The grammar, spelling and auto-correct are toe curling.
Still readable and okay storyline.

A very comical look into the lives of Jordan and Aaron as they travel from Portland to New Orleans in a travel trailer. Jordan left New Orleans after hurricane Katrina hoping to never have to return, but just days before he and Aaron are to be married Aaron gets a promotion to New Orleans. Jordan can't face a flight after being evacuated from the flood waters by helicopter, so he convinces Jordan to buy a travel trailer to make their trip. Hilarity and trouble follows, neither has ever hauled a trailer and all the stresses that entails. A fun little read.
