This is a clear, well-paced introduction to the treble recorder (or alto recorder to American readers and players!). It's geared toward people who've already reached a solid proficiency on soprano (descant) recorder. The tunes, at least in my Braille edition purchased from the Royal National Institute for Blind People, are heavily weighted toward German hymns and folk songs, Israeli and Jamaican tunes, and spirituals. But with plenty of duets and excellent fingering charts throughout, it should be a welcome addition to any recorder player's or teacher's library.
The CD that came with my print edition offers players a chance to hear what they're reading on the page, with accompaniment tracks they can play along to. Unfortunately, the CD doesn't quite match up to the Braille; there were a lot more pieces on the CD! However, the "missing" ones can be learned by ear, and the discrepancy shouldn't deter blind players or teachers from acquiring both Braille and print editions.
