A Hopeful Life: Learning to Hold Fear and Joy in the Same Hand, at the Same Time

Rate this book
Lara MacGregor was 30 years old and seven months pregnant in 2007 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After being gifted headscarves accompanied by a note that said "You can do this" during her treatment, she founded Hope Scarves, which brings hope and community to thousands of people. After seven years in remission, she was diagnosed again, this time with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. With her new reality, Lara redefined hope for herself and for her organization as "to live life over cancer." Lara chose to write her story as one of laughter and love and one that embraced every moment intentionally with hope. She called it A Hopeful Life. Lara MacGregor passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022. She was just 45 years old.

This book was given to me by a friend as I was going through breast cancer treatments. It is a story of hope and living without fear. There were some parts that were difficult to read and I had to put the book away for a while. All in all a very good read. There are pages at the end with writing prompts for the reader to write their own story.
