I wished to be a wolf, and what I got was a mate who didn’t want me. He was the most dominant single alpha in the pack, and who was I? I was nothing but a human. A shifter who’d failed to shift. There’s just two weeks until the next full moon. Time enough to unlock my inner wolf and be the mate my alpha would kill to claim. Before I change my mind and reject him forever.
This is the the third book in the Moonlight Mates series, a set of interconnected standalones, and is written as a shorter (81 pages) novella. Tropes include wolf shifter, rejected mates, and touch her and die. Please see content warnings for adult content, including spicy scenes.

The Lovely: I enjoyed this for what is was - a short wolf shifter romance Novella. I liked the characters - the FMC is tenacious in her goals and finding her mate just isn’t at the top of her list. The MMC is a bit of a stale, burnt cinnamon roll - violent and unapproachable on the outside but different on the inside (at least where the FMC is concerned). The plot was centered around these two characters but did keep moving along and flowed well.
The Mundane: There’s a jump at the end and the ending isn’t quite what I was hoping for. It’s still a HEA, but we didn’t see something happen that I thought we would see. So, just kind of off. That said, I liked this story enough to read more by this author.
This was a fun novella. I really enjoyed the authors first book so I jumped into this one head first. The dynamics were…interestingly but not bad. There is a time jump at the end that almost felt like it came out of nowhere but it was an enjoyable story.
I liked the idea of an incomplete bond and someone who had to still come into her wolf. but this was so rushed. I realize this is a novella, but there were so many plot holes and it’s not just with this book. It’s the entire series. but at the end of the day I love urban fantasy so I will still keep reading these books. if anything I am sad that other characters that we meet and their storylines that are intriguing are not written about from book one to book 2 and even book 3.
example. erik from book one and that treaty how was he treated? did they ever get to go home and see their families??
from book two. what about those shifters that were tortured are we able to learn more about them? what happened to them. did they ever wake up?? they sent people to see if the bond would wake them up did anyone bond??
even book three. the general. he lost his mate apparently. what is his story. why is asher known as the big bad wolf and everyone so scared of him. they say jenny is a disappointment in her family but not once was that shown.
also we don’t even see what pack they are in?????
so many of these characters need to be more flushed out and they’re not which makes it so much harder to connect to these characters and root for them. This is another case of I’m going to tell you how to feel or rather than show you and have you interpret it, which is a shame. The ideas are all there and this could be a really great series. If a little bit more thought was put into it earlier. The vibes were wrong all Vibing and yes, they were vibes in this too, but in a way I’m thankful that no other book in the series is out yet because I don’t know if I would’ve read anymore knowing that I’d probably not get any answers or any of the books be any different.

I’ve been wanting to read more books about shifters and this short story seemed a good place to start.
Jenny has been waiting to shift, but with each full moon, she’s been disappointed. Asher has been alone for a long time. When they meet, sparks literally mark them, but not fully.
He has his reasons for staying clear of her, and she takes it as rejection. She gives him a two week deadline.
This was an easy read. Due to its length, it couldn’t encompass everything, but it was able to provide a complete story that resolved the questions that were brought to mind.
If you want a fated mates short story, this would be a good choice.
instead of waiting for a mate she was waiting for her wolf
As she was getting older and no wolf she realised she would just be a human and after a wish to the goddess for her wolf she was surprised to find she got her wolf but in the form of a fierce dominant Asher. Asher and Jenny's ride was enjoyable easy read. I wish it had gone into the world of these wolves more and how it worked or even a little more spice like some of the others I've read in this series but I still really enjoyed this tale.
This was a really cute novella. It was also a perfect balance between classic fated mates & rejected mates. I really liked the MMC. He literally kills any man who touches her, but he’s a cinnamon roll at heart. It’s a really fast read.

Jenny patiently waited to get her wolf, for the time being she was no more than human; what she got in return was Asher a dominant alpha who didn’t want her.
This was a short wolf shifter romance novella. I loved how focused Jenny was on her goals and how Asher comes off as being unapproachable, but towards Jenny he is the complete opposite.
This was a good book about jenny was trying to get her wolf and her mate who had anger issues and he wanted to love her without hurting her if he accepted the bond.
*I received a review copy from the author for my voluntary and honest review
Jenny wants nothing more than to be able to shift. She is nearing 22 and knows she probably has one last full moon to try to get her wolf. Even going as far as to wish upon a wishing well. Where she runs into Asher, an older dominant wolf who the rest of the tribe fears for his near feral wolf. Their touch sparks their mate mark, but it is incomplete because Jenny is human. Jenny has 2 weeks until the next moon and her last chance to become a shifter she believes worthy of Asher.
This novella was a quick story of fated mates and how far they will go for each other. Literally touch her and die trope. But you can feel how much they are pulled towards each other and while the time jump at the end was a little unexpected, it was good to see them happy together. A nice quick read you can enjoy over an afternoon, probably quicker if you dont have a toddler distracting you.
