A one-night stand with a sexy stranger has me in over my head and calling time out…

Most of my team celebrated our Monday Night Football win with family and a few drinks. I celebrated mine with a smoking hot brunette.

One wild night of passion, with chemistry off the charts, we had our fun. In the morning, just when I was thinking of asking her for one more night—she bolted faster than I can score a touchdown.

It’s my rookie year. I’m breaking records and our team is gearing up to head to the playoffs. A Championship win is the only thing I’m focused on. Until my one-night stand shows up at my doorstep on Christmas Eve and drops a present in my lap that turns my whole word upside down.

Maggie’s pregnant. And the baby is mine. My teammate’s think she’s after my multi-million-dollar contract, but I believe her. Either way, I’m not the kind of guy who walks away from his responsibilities.

Now Maggie’s living under my roof and getting under my skin. I want her close so I can take care of her and our future child.

If only I could keep my hands off her, my life would be a hell of a lot less complicated.

Time Out was such a good read, I couldn't put it down.
Second in the Nashville Steel series, it could be read as a standalone.

Davis is a rookie in the football league, Maggie is a waitress who was just fired. They meet in a pub and they are istantly attracted to each other. They spent a hot night together but the day after Maggie runs away. Fast forward few months later, when they meet again and they have a conversation even more awkward than the ones you have the morning after a one night stand.

Davis and Maggie story was a whirlwind of emotions and discoveries.
They totally clicked even though they can't be more different. They came from worlds apart, and they live very differently, but they are two lovely persons that can see the good in the other.
I loved these two characters so much, I wanted to give them a hug and reassure them.

Stacey Lynn has created an incredible storyline that keep you engrossed in these charaters' lives. Her writing will make you swoon for Davis gentleness, will touch you for Maggie strength, laugh for some characters crazyness, and angry for some past episodes.

I absolutely recommend to read this novel.

I think I prefer the first half to the last half.

Well, this started off strong, things were very interesting in fact, but somehow along the way it lost its spark and kind of frizzed towards the end. Therefore, the storyline was so shallow and OTT that I couldn’t really feel anything, same with our 2 mains’ chemistry.

I think the problem was how he was so nice to everybody, literally everybody, which was not a bad thing btw, but when he treated her just the same, I really questioned myself if she was actually his girlfriend or she was just another person who he was being nice with. The only difference to distinguish her from the others was that she was the one he had sex with. That’s it. Other than that, just the same. That ngl at first, I was really confused and a bit annoyed that he had more chemistry with her friend than with her. Ugh.

description

That’s pretty much why I love grouchy grumpy men who always and only have eyes for their loved ones, because that’s only when, at least, I truly feel special in a relationship.

Anyway, the pace was fast with lots of dramas and events constantly thrown in my face. They were all very interesting that I was so looking forward to, but unfortunately, they were poorly executed that made the storyline fell flat and my feeling kinda slumped.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed because I was so excited to start this one because of so many positive reviews here. But I guess this was not the one for me, I’d expected too much I guess…

Time Out is the second book in the Nashville Steel series. Book 1 was about a Steel veteran. Book 2 is about 23 year old rookie Davis Hall, a fine, upstanding level headed young man. Said rookie is unwinding quietly at his local when 22 year old Maggie rolls in after a particularly bad day. She’s struggling to make ends meet and is a little suspicious - but not so much that she and Davis share some drinks, some nachos, a ride home to his condo, and a night they will both remember - by way of a surprise pregnancy.

How it all unfolds is a little unorthodox but it’s clear from the outset Davis and Maggie have chemistry. Davis is particularly sweet, mature for the most part, and from a ‘good family with close family ties. Maggie’s life story couldn’t be more different, and before she can say first trimester, her secrets might be the couple’s undoing. This pair experience a great deal in a very short time - Maggie is incredibly resilient and Davis maturity belies his years.

Pick this one up if you like
- sports romance (where the romance is the primary storyline, the NFL as a backdrop)
- one might stand
- surprise pregnancy
- different worlds
- guy falls first

Thank you to Stacey Lynn and Valentine PR for an early digital copy to read.

Time Out is the second book in the Nashville Steel series, and we get to meet rookie Davis Hall. He has it all right now, he is playing well, and just getting comfortable with his role with his team. After a Monday Night win, he meets Maggie at his favorite bar. One agreed upon night, and the two part ways. Later two pink lines, and an uncomfortable meeting to get the news. How will Davis handle the news? Good or bad advice from teammates? Who has secrets?

I enjoyed following these two as they grow, and deal with the challenges of his job. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Wow wow wow!!! I definitely wasn’t expecting this book to start off steamy and then take me thru a whirlwind of emotions. Loves how the author didn’t turn this into the typical one night stand story with the mean family members. Davis and Maggie met unexpectedly and it was funny because she had no idea who he was and he pretty much enjoyed it. When she got more comfortable with him things heated up and they spent the most amazing night ever. Who would have thought that night would change their night forever. Davis realize that she was more than a one night stand and getting Maggie to jump on board wasn’t instantaneous. She had her reserves and when you get in depth about her background and upbringing it’s extremely heartbreaking and you realize how strong and brave she is. Davis turned out to be more than a popular football player and a guy with the heart of gold that will do anything and everything for Maggie. There’s so much more to this being a sports romance and it was so beautiful to read how they came full circle. I hope there is more to them and on the future a story of Maggie’s sister, Ruth. Davis had a great support system in his family and teammates and they welcomed Maggie and her sisters as their own family. And Belle was the best friend Maggie could ever ask for.

A sports romance with the unexpected pregnancy trope - count me in!
Time Out by Stacey Lynn was just the sports romance I wanted to read. Her writing style is great, the plot is interesting and keeps you in the story with every page and the characters are so greatly build.
Pulling off the pregnancy trope is not an easy job to do, but Stacey Lynn have handled it perfectly here, without ruining the great story.
I loved every second of Time Out and would definitely read her other books.

Book three in the God Among Men series, Vipers are Forbidden was a freaking insane and wild ride, and I loved every single minute of it. The twists and turns in this book will definitely hold your attention from start to finish. This is Athena's story, and damn I just loved her. She's a total badass, and her witty remarks just made me love her that much more. I would definitely recommend that you read these books in order. Go grab your copies today.

I'm not even sure how to explain my love for Davis. Despite being young, he knew the moment he laid his eyes on Maggie that she was someone special. But after one hot and steamy night together she disappears and she becomes the one that got away. But now she's back and she shocked him with being pregnant. But despite not knowing much about each other, they agree they would work on their friendship for the babies sake. But what started as friendship, quickly turns into so much more.

With each passing day, Davis sees just how special she is. And when he learns about her childhood, he's even more in awe of her. Together they make such a cute couple and I loved every second of this book. They don't make young men like him anymore and if there was a prototype of what a perfect man looks and behaves like, I'm pretty sure Davis's picture is below the description 100%.

tropes:
sports romance (football!!)
one night stand
guy falls first
accidental pregnancy
forced proximity
found family

yes, another accidental pregnancy book. im sorry but i absolutely adore that trope and oh my god this book was so good it had me swooning, it was such a good and fast read i couldn't put it down!!!

DAVIS HALL Y'ALL!!!!!!! the rookie and boyfriend of the year!!!!!! he is literally the definition of a cinnamon roll bf. i loved him so so so so much and i loved how caring he was with maggie. he was such a sweetheart, he had me sobbing and melting the entire time.

i've never been a fan of sports romance, idk they always bored me bc all they did was talk talk talk talk about sports and i just wanted romance. but this book!!!! OMG, i think i will start giving sports romance a chance because i absolutely loved this one. i gotta say, stacey lynn really nailed it with this book! it's got the perfect mix of sports and romance, which makes it such a fun and enjoyable read!!

this book was definitely a roller coaster of emotions, but i enjoyed every single one! maggie and davis have a one-night stand, and in the morning she runs off leaving davis alone, months pass and one day they finally reunite when maggie finds out she's pregnant. there's so much more to the story than the "oops i got pregnant with my one-night stand what am i going to do now" plot. maggie's backstory is so interesting and gives the story so much more drama,

time out's release is on june 27th, go preorder it asap!!! y'all are not going to regret it.

Once this book hit my kindle, I could not put it down. “Time Out” is a sweet, fun and heartfelt story of two opposites who are so right for each other.

Maggie has had a rough few years after leaving a horrific family situation. She ends up at a bar to relax and meets Davis Hall, rookie player for the Nashville Steel. The two hit off right away and end up spending the night together but Maggie sneaks out before the morning comes. Davis is living the rookie dream with a successful team but had always wondered about Maggie from their one night. 8 weeks later, she’s back at Davis’ door because she’s pregnant. Both are shocked but realize that their chemistry they felt that night is still there.

I loved Davis and Maggie so much. I connected with both right from the beginning and I could not put their story down. Both come from very different family backgrounds. Davis is close to his family, especially his older sisters. Maggie’s family is super religious and values the man over any family values. I loved how they met at a bar and I could feel the connection they had right from the start. Davis is so genuine, sweet and a swoony cinnamon roll guy. He cares big and isn’t afraid to show it. Maggie is so sweet and I admire her for wanting to succeed on her own. Her best friend, Belle, was a hoot and I loved her so much. The last few chapters and ending were so perfect and I cannot wait for the next book.

This book was FANTASTIC in my opinion!!! I absolutely loved it from start to finish. I adored the MMC Davis and the FMC Maggie so much. What a journey this book takes you on from a one night stand, to an accidental pregnancy and that is just the beginning of the emotional ride this book takes you on. This book left me wanting more, in the best way, and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Loved how natural and easy Davis and Maggie were together. The spice was amazing and the story itself kept me interested the whole way through. I found Maggie to be so brave and strong to leave a life she didn’t want when she knew she’d be exiled if she did. A super sweet HEA rounded this one out to be a really entertaining read. *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I stayed up late finishing this one because I just couldn't put it down. Maggie is down on her luck when she meets Davis. They agree to one night together, but by the end of it they both realize they want more. However, Maggie disappears on him. She pops back up a couple months later to tell him she's pregnant and things don't go as planned for them a second time. Once Maggie and Davis get on the same page, oh my! Davis is swoony! He is willing to give Maggie the moon. Maggie has some secrets about her past that make for an interesting back story. And her history explains why she is determined to do things on her own. Watching her learn to trust Davis was sweet.

Book #2 in the Nashville Steele Series

Tropes

Surprise pregnancy
Sports romance
Forced proximity
Hidden talent
Found family

Davis is such a sweetheart! I really enjoyed reading Davis’ story and even though he could be arrogant due to his huge contract and being in his rookie year he is the complete opposite. He is such a down to earth, steady guy and I found him a breath of fresh air!

Maggie has had a lot happen in her life and it changes again after she walks through the door of the bar that Davis is in.

Their relationship develops so beautifully with Davis never pressuring Maggie but just saying what he thinks or wants then waiting for her to decide…it was exactly what she needed.

I found their story authentic and I was really invested in their HEA.

I highly recommend reading this series, each story is a standalone but for reader enjoyment I would start with book one.

I loved this book, one night stand turned destined true loves, so good! I know some people really dislike the surprise pregnancy trope, but I don’t mind it. I think this one was done really well. For some reason I’ve been happening upon books with people trying to escape polygamy and religious cults, but I thought that added an interesting background for the non professional football player. I liked what it did to the dynamics of the couple. These characters were so likable and I just love love love Davis! What a dream. The only reason I have this a 4 and not a 5 was because I wish there was more from later in the pregnancy and from the time around and right after the birth. I would have liked to read about that.

✨ARC Review✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️.5/5

This is book 2 in the Nashville steel series but can be read as a stand alone.

This book was really good and such a quick read!

Both characters were really likable. This book was deeper than I thought with the stuff Maggie had to go through with her family. But she was such a strong FMC. And Davis was such a cinnamon roll MMC. They way he was there to support Maggie and her family was so sweet. There wasn’t much conflict between them and they had great communication.

Maggie has just had another bad day when she winds up at a local bar where she meets Davis. He’s nice and funny and she decides to spend one night with him.
Fast forward two months - she’s pregnant and decides to tell him on Christmas Eve after his football game. Oh, and she brings her best friend who is very blunt and rips the bandaid off for her. (I love Belle!)

This story is amazing!
I greatly enjoyed the dynamic between these two characters. She’s a strong character who keeps getting knocked down, but I love how resilient she it throughout the entire story. Davis seems to fully have his life figured out and is definitely a problem solving protector.
Davis makes a great book boyfriend!

I absolutely devoured this book, I sat myself down and didn’t get back up again until I reached the end.
Davis and Maggie are two completely different people but together they bring the best out in each other. My heart ached each time parts of Maggie’s past were revealed. But each time she stepped out of her shell I cheered a little bit harder for her.
Davis has the biggest heart, and once he decides he is all in with Maggie there is no limit to what he would do to make her happy.
I also have to add that Davis’s teammates add so much to this story. I have everything crossed that each of them end up with their own story as well.
Loved every second of this story and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book released.

1/5 ⭐️’s.

This was… Well, it was bad. 🥹

What I liked:

The premise isn’t unique, but it’s still intriguing and the “unplanned pregnancy” trope is a guilty pleasure of mine to read. 🫣

I liked Maggie’s friend Belle, too. And the bartender Lou.

What I didn’t like:

There were so many run on sentences, it made my head hurt. Some of the writing itself didn’t flow either and I found myself having to go back and reread lines a few times. There were a ridiculous amount of repeated words too. Things like:

“Tomorrow they’ll move in to arrest your dad tomorrow.”

I am also not a fan of insta lust or insta love. I think part of what makes a romance novel interesting, in my opinion, is the building of a genuine connection. The push and pull, the slow burn, the ✨angst✨.

I understand this book involves a one night stand, so there’s already some insta lust involved, but the way that Davis thought about Maggie after ✨one✨ night together… 🤦🏻‍♀️ There was never any hope for much of the delicious “slow burn” that I so love. I was rooting for it, I really was, because both Maggie and Davis said they didn’t want a relationship outside of the one night stand.

“Probably should have been first, but seriously, fuck that guy who got to have her before me.”

That’s the sentence that specifically made me roll my eyes and nearly call it quits. That possessiveness after ✨one night✨ of sex. No thank you, not my cup of tea. I also dislike how a lot of Davis’ internal dialogue is surface level and always about Maggie’s “massive tits”. I’m just not into reading that.

Over all, the writing is painfully mediocre. The run on sentences are never ending, there were weird tenses used sometimes, strangely phrased wording, and I found several spelling errors throughout. Not to mention the repeating of words never stopped, either. 🥹

I also honestly and truly hated the religion subplot that was always present, but became a huge focus during the last 25% of the book. It was exhausting and a very weird direction to take the book, in my opinion. I skimmed through all of that content heavily. 🥹

Honestly, the last 100 pages were just weird and all over the place in general. Truly unbelievable and I rolled my eyes several times.

The story was… Well, it was a story. I would have likely given this a half star higher rating if the writing held up more, and there was no religion or random music career involved.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Time Out by Stacey Lynn, is the second book in the Nashville Steel Series, Davis Hall is the rookie of the season, he is doing wonders on the field, he is funny, very intelligent which he shows with an engineering degree just in case his football career was not taking off, he is a family guy who are in Clemson, Nebraska, and they are the ones who always keep him humble, one night when he doesn't feel like he wants to party much with the team, he finds himself at the bar in front of his condo when enters a girl who leaves him breathless, Maggie, is a young woman who has just lost her job and is not in a very good moment, her best friend has just gotten engaged and she must find a place to live, now that she lost her job this put her in a difficult situation, and when she arrives at Lou's bar to try to relax and try to forget things a bit, she meets this handsome man who offers to pay for her drinks but without anything in return and although she is a bit skeptical she soon realizes that he is a decent boy and ends up sharing with him more than a few drinks, but when morning comes she disappears without a trace, leaving Davis wanting to know more about this girl but without way of how to find her, but On Christmas Day, when she ends up at his door, what he least imagines is the bomb that Maggie will drop at his feet. When the situations they face put them to the test, these two must first get to know each other and decide what is best for their future, but since always happens and as we know nothing will be simple, Maggie must face the stigma of a gold digger with a past she cannot leave behind.
I loved Davis and how caring and thoughtful and sweet he is, the perfect bok boyfriend, and Maggie is a strong and determined girl, a fresh, sweet story with laughter, friendship and love. I already want more of this series, Highly Recommended!!

Amé a Davis y lo atento, considerado y dulce que es, el perfecto novio literario, y Maggie es una chica fuerte y determinada, una historia fresca, dulce, con risas, amistad y amor. Ya quiero más de esta serie, Altamente Recomendada!!

My first book from the fabulous Stacey Lynn- but won't be the last! I loved diving into the Nashville Steel world. The charming characters, the heartfelt romance, the delicious chemistry! I really enjoyed Time Out- a deliciously sweet one night stand sports romance full of charisma and fun.

NFL rookie Davis Hall is having a fantastic year, with his team on their way to the BIG championship. But every win reinforces how alone Davis is, while his teammates have families and significant others to turn to. So after a big win, he finds himself in a super steamy one night stand...one that he wants to be more, but his lady love vanishes. Until she turns up on his door months later on Christmas Eve, pregnant. Maggie had her own hardships to face and her own loneliness to whether. And after recently being fired, she ends up in the arms of a sexy stranger Davis. Now she finds herself pregnant and reliant on the football heartthrob who is now so much more than just a one night stand.

The chemistry here is great- and I loved how Davis is both a good guy but ultra sexy. He has all that golden retriever hero energy I adore. And I loved how Maggie is fiery but also really sweet. She's got a lot of inner strength given all she's faced, and I just adored watching Davis step up to take care of her. Their connection is sexy and sweet, their romance really heartfelt and swoony.

I'm excited to go back and read the first book in the series, and I'm excited to see what is next in the series! Really cute and a great escape overall.

Sweet, gooey, swoon-y deliciousness with a side of spicey steam
Time Out (Nashville Steel Series Book 2) by Stacey Lynn is the first book by this author that I have read and I absolutely loved it!!
Davis and Maggie are fantastic characters that are well developed with depth. While on the surface, these two are complete opposites. However, as their story unfolds, their similarities become prevalent which in turn gives the relationship a more solid foundation.
As Maggie is trying to be fully self-sufficient she seems to run away from assistance, often to her detriment. With the introduction of Davis in her life, she begins to see thing differently and her life takes another dramatic turn. Davis is determined and persistent and exactly what Maggie needs.
Overall, this love story is the perfect blend of patience, unconditional love, help, and support with a healthy dose of communication. Davis wins Maggie's heart through his actions as well as his willingness to be patient, encourage her in her dreams and letting Maggie set the pace as well as listening to her needs and wants. Davis might have already been on top of the world, but together these two will set the world on fire beginning with their very full HEA.
I read an ARC of this book via Valentine Promotions and voluntarily share my review.

An instant connection…

And a surprise baby! Davis and Maggie’s attraction was truly instant. A brief conversation and the spark was lit. Going their separate ways, getting back together (sort of) for the sake of the baby was definitely happening and it was that, that made this story so special. This trope is not new, but Davis and Maggie’s telling of it was full of new twists and turns…

Maggie’s background meant she’d scrabbled for years to make her own dreams come true. While a baby was not in her short-term goals, she was ready to deal with whatever came her way. Including the consequences of her own actions. Davis, well, his reaction was honest and just spectacular. Sweet, thoughtful, he went above and beyond what Maggie could have hoped for. Seriously, way to man up…

Friends and family – their reactions ran the gamut and folded into their story perfectly. This could have been all drama, all the time, bring in the llama. Instead it was real emotion. Real feelings. With Davis being the sweetheart he was/is and Maggie’s gentle steadfastness, each hiccup meant they got closer and closer.

Some of my most favourite parts of the story were the couple standing strong, together, in the face of any and all adversity they faced. That’s love, people…

*I happily reviewed this story

Davis brings the perfect mix of sweet and swoon

This book had me pulled in from the first page. It’s a cinnamon roll sort of story, with the right amount of spice. Davis and Maggie find themselves unexpectedly expecting after a one night stand. He’s an NFL rookie and a good-hearted well raised country boy, and she’s the down on her luck girl who runs into him in a bar after a bad day. She’s been on her own for three years after being excommunicated from her family and the strict religious group she was raised in. They connect from the moment they meet, and I love them together. He’s basically a swoony golden retriever and was all in from the beginning, even when teammates told him not to trust her. He never doubted. I love swoony heroes! I also loved that there was NO THIRD ACT BREAKUP. It was not needed, and I hate when it forced and contrived to move the story. Definitely some emotions, lots of swoon and steam, and no added forced drama with her family. It was perfect. My only gripe would be some editing issues. There were a few sentences I had to read more than once, because the wording did not make sense. But overall a low angst cinnamon-roll swoony read.

Reviewed for A Wanton Lover Book Blog

Time Out is book two in Nashville Steel, Stacey's newest series. Davis is a young, successful player on the Nashville Steel, having an outstanding season. Davis meets Maggie one night and hit it off but their one-night stand results in Maggie becoming pregnant. Daivs really likes Maggie and insists that she move in with him so he can help her out and prepare for when she has the baby. As the two are forced to spend time with each other, they soon catch feelings for each other.
Davis's character is one of the most patient and helpful men have read about in a long time. He is there every step of the way to help Maggie whenever she needs it. Maggie is a little spitfire that has grown since leaving her previous life. I really liked her character because she was so hard-working and made herself a chance to live the life she wanted without even knowing anyone when she first arrived in town.
Time Out is a sweet surprise pregnancy story. Once I really go into reading it, I couldn't stop. Davis was just swoony.

Davis and Maggie

This was such a good book. Davis and Maggie have a one night stand that results in an unexpected surprise. Maggie is disappointed in herself because she has goals she’s trying to achieve. Maggie is struggling financially and Davis wants to support her. Maggie has trust issues because of her family history. It’s hard for her to trust Davis. Davis, his family and his friends show Maggie how a family should be. She finally trusts that Davis will be there for her.

This a good book. Sometimes your family is the one you make on your own. 4.3 stars
