A survey of Italy's wars from Ethiopia to just after the surrender to the Allies on September 8, 1943, and the occupation of northern and central Italy by the Germans. Probably nothing new for the specialist, who will most likely have read many of Rochat's sources already, but very good for someone who, like me, was looking for a broad overview of the Italian armed forces in their campaigns (Ethiopia, Western Alps, North Africa, Albania/Greece/Yugoslavia, Soviet Union) from 1935 to 1943. Also includes a bit about Italian prisoners of war. Academic jargon is mercifully absent.
