When a family of Trolls moves into the quiet suburb of Biddlesden, it's likely that things are going to get ugly (and possibly hairy and smelly) very soon, since trolls like to roar as loudly as possible and stomp their hairy feet. Even worse, the Trolls have moved in next door to the Priddle family. BIG mistake, and sparks will fly!
Review from my grandchildren- they liked it because it was funny. They loved the ‘Grrarring.’ Their favourite characters were the Trolls. They liked them all standing on the mountain at the end.
Ulrik is a troll and his also family are trolls. He was friendly and never hurt to people, but people thought troll would probably be biting. He was finally gets friend and school. one of his friend "Warren" convinced and pranks him to biting his new teacher "Mrs. Melly" if she would liked it. Ulrik thought Warren certainly it but Ulrik make mistakes and trouble. Someday, he not go trip for farm because he been biting to someone but something excuse him and come into the trip. He makes true brave and save Warren, keep away of mountain goat, Victor because he tossed people who out of there that why he endanger it is. Warren almost hit accident by Victor. Warren realizes to apologies to Ulrik what he did to him. They be friend already. Really that's good story and I like it.
I did not read these in order and I'm glad I did not start with this one as it is my least favorite. Still love the characters, but was a bit disappointed by the build up and then quick ending.
It was evident that this was going to be very much a children's book but seemed promising (I loved the subtle references to being disgraced in a losing encounter with a billy goat), with a great reading by Clive Mantle who we've enjoyed before reading the Michael Moorcock Doctor Who offering The Coming of the Terraphiles. His powerful voice in measured Scandinavian mode is just right. Initially I thought "But this is silly, why have they bought a house when they've never seen it?" and then it becomes apparent that they are not that dissimilar to refugees and who are in the most literal way struggling to fit in and struck by the appalled realisation that their normal food (goat pie) may be something they can no longer eat.
The Troll book is about a family a trolls who move next door to the Priddle family. And through the whole story the Priddle family thinks that the troll family eats humans and are burying them next door. But in fact they heard them wrong and from that point on they begin to start their on investigation of the Troll family.
I love storyline and the kids at the center thought most parts were really funny and enjoyable. But like all kids and adults. Some part were disgusting.
This was a fun fantasy/fiction novel to read. It had fun divers characters to follow from chapter to chapter. There were characters ranging from trolls, to humans. It keeps the readers interested to see what is going to happen the next. This would be an enjoyable book for children, catching and keeping their interest with the humorous plot line.
Lots of great troll illustrations, and a funny premise. The resolution was too abrupt, and the story stayed at a surface level. Still, this easy children's chapter book was a fast, fun read. Might be good for reluctant readers, despite some British terminology.
I really could not get into this book, however I kept reading it in the hope it would get better. I felt like I was reading a book that a 3rd grader took to their in school publishing workshop and a had the story loosely edited.
A family of trolls moves into a quiet human neighborhood and are misunderstood by all the humans they encounter. I think 3.5 stars might be a better rating as there are many issues here about prejudices that could be discussed.
Well, there's nothing wrong with this vaguely Dahl-esque fable. To adult eyes it looks like a commentary on racial prejudice, but told for laughs, so I'm not sure if this could be a teaching point.
This book requires you use your imagination for a bit but if you can it's pretty hilarious. I enjoyed watching the trolls try to fit into a normal neighborhood with the nosey neighbors following their every move. The best part was when the neighbors thought they were burying bodies in their yard and tried to investigate. The characters were well developed and I found myself lost in them for most of the book. Really cute idea that was well written.
