Raina Boardman had it all - money, success, power, and all the trappings therein. She was the head of a company she'd created from the ashes of trying childhood, and she should have had everything she ever wanted.
But everyone has some desires can never be spoken aloud, and she had never confronted her own head she wanted to submit to a man, someone who would take her in hand and make her want to surrender herself to him. It was almost as if she had too much control - was too demanding - in her daily life. She needed someone strong enough to meet her toe to toe and back her down unhesitatingly - in business and in their bedroom . . .
He arrived in her boardroom one day - a filthy rich, disgustingly handsome billionaire playboy who could buy and sell her in a heartbeat - and conquered and controlled it perfectly. She knew she was lost. She only hoped he couldn't see quite how much she wished he would focus all that power and dominance on her.
In the end, she betrayed herself to him, and entered a life she'd only dreamed of, fantasized about feverishly, alone in the night. He was every bit as strict a disciplinarian as she could have wanted - more so, she thought sometimes - and never hesitated to lay down the law across her cringing bottom and thighs in the most severe of manners. But those weren't the only tools in the arsenal he used to keep her in line. He'd said he was going to push her limits, and he was nothing if not a man of his word. And she was His, to do with as he pleased.
Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.
I bet you know just what I'm talking about.
Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.
And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.
There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.
Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!
Possessive much? I know I can always count on Ms. Faulkner for some intense D/s or SM story. His certainly delivers in the TPE as well as the SM. When I first started this story, I thought perhaps Raina was just another submissive who had no life outside of her Master. I didn't read the story blurb because I like to be surprised. I was surprised. Raina is CEO of a company she built from scratch. She's tough and a self made woman. Does this make me like her better? Actually, yes.
I'm tired of the stories where the submissive is some down on her luck gal who can't get her life straight. Better yet, the usually TSTL female sub has some mental issues which should really be handled by a psychiatrist of some sort. In this story, I'm pleased to say, Raina is neither TSTL nor is she some fucked up mental case. Instead, she's a very powerful woman in her own right in the business world. In addition, her TPE with Mark (his name is only mentioned once) does not include her giving up her company or her job. This is what I liked best.
The SM part of the story is pretty heavy. This is what I come to expect from Ms. Faulkner. While it didn't go into the step by step application of each evil implement, it was enough to have me wincing. Then again, I'm not a pain addict - at least not for impact play. The pieces of humiliation visited on Raina is what I would consider mild. Since it was difficult for her, it's obviously a bit much from Raina's perspective. I reveled in it. Honestly, this book is really more about Raina's journey to become HIS. The title of this story is very aptly named. Mark is not what I consider romantic, but I can tell he loves Raina deeply. He's not a perfect owner/master, yet he does do his best. The fact that they are both rich is the fantasy part. I only wish I didn't have to look at price tags. I recommend this story to BDSM readers who enjoy the SM part of BDSM.
This is not BDSM for the faint of heart. This is a 24/7 Master/slave relationship. There is pain, humiliation, denied orgasm, bondage, and very serious discipline. However, it was what Raina wanted and enjoyed above all else. The author did a good job of making that apparent through the story. It was also very obvious that the M/s had deep feelings for each other, even love. It's just expressed much differently than what society calls the norm.
I thought the dichotomy between Raina the CEO and Raina the slave was striking and intriguing. It made her submission all the more impressive, knowing how strong she was in her work life.
What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to this book, but it was just blah. The whole story was told. There was virtually no dialogue between the characters. The guy didn't even have a name for most of the book. (It was mentioned once by another character, but that was it.) I felt no connection between the characters. I thought the guy was a cruel, uncaring asshole and I just couldn't see what Raina loved about him. The book wasn't kinky or sexy or romantic. I never got to know either of the characters. I'm glad that it was a relatively short story because otherwise it would have been a DNF.
I've read other BDSM stories and was not put off by the explicit sex or methods used, but the emotional connections of "protection and love" evident in other BDSM-themed books I've read by Joey Hill, and Cherise Sinclair, weren't there for me up until the end. In truth, without this featured more prominently in the story from the onset, there were times I felt Mark was being outright abusive (physically and emotionally) to Raina and, save for her arousals, it didn't seem she was enjoying her submissive role.
The story was well written overall, but was so faced paced that I had little sense of Raina's feelings leading up to her marriage, her contentment as his wife, or expectations of what lay ahead in their relationship. It was pretty clear, however, that his BDSM ministrations would only escalate over time.
The ending was a big surprise to me as the tenderness and thoughtfulness demonstrated then seemed to come predominately on the heels of his deep concern over a recent illness she had. For this reason, I felt his thoughtful actions and gifts were done out of selfishness for himself that he might lose her, and not his love for his submissive.
Perhaps I have much more to learn about the emotional dynamics involved in BDSM relationships, but this wasn't one of my favourite stories by far.

This book makes Fifty Shades of Grey look like a children's book ! This book had some freaky shit in it, I mean I'm as adventurous as the next person but no f*****g way am I letting the man I'm banging give me some homemade soapy lemon enema especially every couple of days. I mean ... damn that doesn't even sound like it's good for your health. Raina is a successful, shrewd businesswoman, she created her company all on her own from the ground up. She may be the boss in the boardroom but she longs for a strong man to dominate her in the bedroom. One day Mark, a handsome, billionaire businessman walks into her office and she realizes he may be what she's been looking for. Mark is entranced by Raina and he wants nothing more than to make this gorgeous, powerful woman submit to him in his bedroom.
This is a very well written book. As a previous reviewer said it is not for the faint of heart. For those interested in hardcore 24/7 Master/slave fiction this will be a great read. I liked this book because the characters knew their minds and actively chose this lifestyle. You go through this story having a lot of respect for the characters. Nothing sinister here just a nicely detailed story about consensual M/s. This is not my favorite type of book, but rated it by the content and writing not on how well the story melds with my own tastes.
The story is told with the POV of Raina Boardman of her life and relationship with her Master. It is a disturbing, dark erotic, BDSM story that at times seems to cross into cruelty and near torture. She is a self-made millionaire, with a dream and drive that built her a business and empire, but she still is modest and down-home simple. He came from old money, and has continued making money, and is a billionaire. They are brought together at a charity auction, where he knows immediately he wants her and pursues her.
The plot is not a sweet romance, but instead a committed BDSM, M/s relationship that even goes as far as coercion. If he decides something, she has no say when it comes to them together. In her business world and boardroom she is a force to be reckoned with, but once she enters their domain, she is his slave and at his beckon call, no resistance, and the word “no” does not exist. The story is detailed and includes anal play, medical play, voyeurism, forced exhibition with harsh BDSM elements. In the end, for these two, it is their world. The story may take many people out of their comfort zone, and needs to be read with an open-mindedness of the two main characters and what works for them.
I just didn't like this one. I couldn't get into it long enough to finish it in one sitting like I usually do! There was basically not emotional connection between the characters that helped me feel what they felt. There was very little communication. The story is just sort of on sided to whoever is telling the story at the time. It was kind of like listening to a computerized voice read an emotional scene from your favorite book. Everything is missing. Try it sometime, highlight an emotional phrase from the book you are currently reading and have your device read it back to you! Oh well its done now.
This story is exactly as described – it has a strong BDSM theme. However, it is between two adults who start as lovers and end up married – so it is always in the context of a caring relationship on the part of both Raina and Nathan. She has a strong desire to be dominated and punished, despite the fact that she is a highly successful businesswoman; while he has a strong desire to dominate and punish within the context of their relationship, and while he is hard on Raina, he does care for her. They are really made for each other and in the course of the story, the relationship moves from their meeting to a stable marriage – all the while filled with various scenes of BDSM
Raina is a control freak at work who secretly wants to be dominated. She gets what she has been wishing for with her Master Mark. This is a very hash and severe story so definitly not for the faint of heart. There is a lot of BDSM scenes that deliver very hard punishments and lots of humilation. It is a great book if that is what you like.
I had already read this awhile ago but did not remember, usually Amazon alerts me if I had already bought the item, not this time. Anyhoo I kept on reading it. It was short and sometimes I like short, if you read her before you know this is discipline/BDSM the H is a hard task maker and his sub loves it..they do love each other but he's a little rough:))
