"Quirky and funny and heartfelt and rich" -Ft. Myers News-Press In the hazy Florida sunshine, it felt like a great idea... ...move in across the street from his ex-wife and young daughter, to try and win them both back. At first, it seems that all that stands between them is the speeding tourist trolley which sends unsuspecting suburbanites diving for safety. But assorted trials quickly multiply for Gibb Chapman: his mother keeps stealing cars to get his attention; an angry religious group is picketing his house; and a misplaced boot gives his crumbling roof an unplanned skylight. But all Gibb wants is to win back the love of his life by proving that he has never stopped adoring her. Magic And Grace is a novel of self discovery, a lively and life-affirming tale of self discovery set against the backdrop of a beachside holiday town in Florida.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters were real, everyday people who made mistakes and leaned from them. They were funny and quirky in a way which I could relate to. The author takes the reader through a gamut of emotions; from laughter to sadness, from frustration to humility. All the while, there is a bit of poetic insight in the prose which only adds to the depth. I recommend this read!

I like to read books set in places that I am going to visit to get a little flavor or taste for the area. This book is set in Naples Florida, where we are heading this summer. As far as setting, its probably a good shallow introduction to southern Florida, as far a the plot, it's also a bit shallow. I did like the ending, but most of the book is trite and amateurish. Now that I'm thinking about it, that is exactly the kind of book you want to read at the beach, so if you are sitting on the beach in Naples Florida, this would be a great choice.

Magic and Grace is a good choice for a summer read. It is a fairly quick read that has a sense of humor that shows the importance of relationships and how they are never perfect.
Gibb Chapman is a childish adult. He is a writer who just finished his first book, and claims he will never write another. He screws up his marriage, drinks in excess, and just happens to be financially sound thanks to his talented mother.
After his wife divorces him, Gibb decides he wants to be a better person, for his ex-wife and their young daughter. So he quits drinking and moves into the place across from the house they all used to occupy in hopes that he can weasel his way back into their lives and win back his ex-wife.
Gibbs moment of self-discovery eventually hits him. He takes a journey in self-awareness that ends in the unearthing of what it means to have a family.

I won this book from GoodReads and Fingerpress Ltd. Thank you.

This is a story about the main character making some poor choices in his life. Though he is trying to do better by giving up drinking and drugs he is still messing up in other areas. It is always good to stop and think before you act and what the consequence of your actions will be--He Didn't. He has an ex-wife and a young daughter that he loves and wants back in his life, the three of them, a family again.

I did not care for some of the language used or description of some scenes. The characters/story felt flat to me. A very good flow to the author's writing for a smooth, easy read. I had no trouble reading the book to the end.

I picked up this book because it is set in Naples, Florida, where I lived for a few years. I didn't expect much more than a little bit of reminiscing, but was pleasantly surprised that, even though it is not award winning writing, I also enjoyed the story.

This is a sweet little story, not world changing, but a very nice read none the less. It's well written and a work of love by the author.
