An outstanding read. Very well written. A Whirlwind of an overview of Tench Tilghman's service as an aide-de-campe of George Washington during the American Revolution.
As Col. Tilghman was involved almost from the beginning, this book touches on just about every aspect of the Main Army, battles, encampments, personalities, etc. This book is great for anyone wanting to familiarize themselves with the American Revolution as a result.

I enjoy reading biographies of lesser-known figures who lived in extraordinary times. This obscure and lovely little biography is a fine example. Tilghman defied his loyalist father by turning patriot; however, their relationship remained close throughout (read their lively correspondence herein). Tilghman was by Washington's side for seven years and was one of GW's most trusted aides. Highly recommended for Rev War readers.
