Girl Politics: Friends, Cliques, and Really Mean Chicks

Rate this book
Yesterday you were BFFs, planning to go to the same college and be in each other’s weddings. Today when you sat down at the lunch table, she and all her other friends just got up and left without saying a word, then started to giggle as they walked away. Your teacher says to ignore them, your mom says to try to talk to her about it, and your dad says this is just what kids do. What happened? You’re angry, hurt, and wondering—when is it just a girl thing and when is enough enough? You need some survival skills to protect yourself from girls who are out to hurt you, as well as tips to make your real friendships even more amazing. Girl Politics has all the info on friends, bullies, and what to do when the girls you hang out with are both.

This book is definitely more targeted toward the 8-12 age group, but I think any girl would enjoy and find something to help in it. I do wish there was more bits about internet friends and non-school scenarios, but that's okay. An 8 or 9 year old probably shouldn't be on the internet alone anyway. Nancy Rue's tone in her writing is very engaging and I 100% recommend this and her other nonfiction books...and the Lily/Lucy/Sophie series, too.
I think a girl that goes to school will probably find more help than a homeschooled girl a la myself (I have taken college classes in person-currently I'm doing online ones, but whatever- but I never went to school K-12,) since there are lots of school-type scenarios and whatnot. However, it's a great book for girls in my opinion.

...Also teens and twenty-somethings and (and and and etc) still do the same friendship flubs, just with different specifics. So. Older girls, read away.:)

I finally found this book here on Goodreads, I couldn't remember the title for so long. This is one of my favorite books and it was simply made irrisistable. "Girl Politics" is a guide to what we all go or went through at one point or another of our lives and it was written so realisticly and deeply that I was left speechless to the point of taking out a dozen other Faithgirlz books from the library. It made me feel a hundred different emotions at once, but what I think it really did was summarize how our spiritual inner life also effects our social life in about a 300 pages. Growing up is hard work, but it's also something you can't chose, it's something that comes and goes like the wind and when you have to make a drastic choice, Faithgirlz is right there having your back and supporting you to make the best possible desicion. I was in love with this book and I hope you feel and truly open your ears and heart to hear what it has to say and to hear how it can open your eyes and make you a better you. Nancy Rue wrote about all of the things that effect you and how you can and will control them if you just make the right choice and follow your faith and most importantly your heart... I'd highly recommend...
