Deeper: Living in the Reality of God's Love

Rate this book
We often believe things about ourselves that do not line up with God's truth. We think our worth is based on performance or possessions, that we have to be perfect to be loved, or that we're too ordinary to be used by God. "Deeper" tears down these lies and teaches women to replace them with four truths from Psalm 139--God knows me, he protects me, he made me, he values me.
Using compelling narrative and Scripture, "Deeper" helps women transform their lives by trusting in the reality of God's love. Instead of striving for perfection and worth, readers can rest in the truth that they are his.

God knows me ; I am not a stranger to him.

He understands me as an individual.

He is intimately acquainted with me.

He knows me well enough to know what I'll say next.

He is always with me.

He is covering me; I am protected.

I cannot separate myself from the love of God.

He leads me.

He holds my hand.

My life is not in darkness but bask in His light.

He made me, putting all the pieces together.

I am a wonderful work of God's hand.

My life is a miracle.

My days have been ordained ( planned and purposed ) by God.

His thoughts are tender toward me.

He is always thinking of me.

God preserves me from day to day.

When I wake to start a new day, He is still with me.

I am alive this moment by His design and plan.

In this well-written book, Debbi Alsdorf describes how experiencing God's love can strength us through difficult situations and trials. The book review says, "We think our worth is based on performance or possessions, that we have to be perfect to be loved, or that we're too ordinary to be used by God. Debbie tears down these lies and teaches women to replace them with four truths from Psalm 139--God knows me, he protects me, he made me, he values me. Using compelling narrative and Scripture, Debbie helps women transform their lives by trusting in the reality of God's love."

I highly recommend this book.

On July 19 and 20, 2013, I had the privilege to hear Debbie Alsdorf speak at our Write to Inspire Conference in Rancho Cordova, CA. She's got to be one of the most inspirational speakers I have ever heard, and I was so blessed by her presentation. I wish you could have been there.

But maybe you sorta can. A lot of what she spoke on is in Deeper. Although principally aimed at women, men could also benefit from the teachings in this beautiful book. Each chapter is a separate story and teaching with handy questions at the end that could even make this a delightful Bible study! I think you will walk away from this teaching walking closer with our wonderful Lord!

This book really spoke to me. Took me longer to finish it than I intended, but I realized that I needed the time in between to allow the truth spoken to set in and become reality in my life. It has been perfectly aligned with God's message from other places in my life as well.

Very good, lots of highlighting. Sometimes I just need to be reminded of how big God is, and start living and praying like it!

This was our non fiction book for February book club. It was really good, all things I've heard before, but never hurts to hear again.
