Das Finale von Battle-City beginnt! Dazu hat die Kaiba-Corporation extra einen großen Zeppelin entworfen, der den Duellanten als fliegende Arena dienen soll. Acht Finalisten müssen nun nacheinander gegeneinander antreten. Als erstes heißt es Yugi vs. Bakura...
Takahashi (高橋和希) started as a mangaka in 1982. His first work was Tokiō no Tsuma (闘輝王の鷹), published in 1990. One of his earliest works was Tennenshokudanji Buray (天然色男児BURAY), which lasted for two volumes and was published from 1991 to 1992. Takahashi did not find success until 1996 when he created Yu-Gi-Oh!
The Battle City Finals was an amazingly insane volume and is a great piece to this story. Yugi and Joey completed their duel and found a way for neither of them to die; what a weird sentence lol.
The finals of the Battle City Tournament have begun and the first to duel is Yugi and Bakura; who is being possessed by the millennium ring and being mind controlled by the millennium rod, wonder what that could do to someone's brain. Anyway the duel is insane it's anyone's win, Yugi's deck is great but can he beat a death deck?

Volume 16 lives up to its title as the Battle City finals do indeed get underway. But first they spend a few chapters finishing off the Yugi vs Jonouchi duel; where we see friendship indeed triumphs all. The volume then spends some time introducing all the finalists, expanding on Marik a bit, and then we see the first duel... Yugi vs Bakura. I quite enjoy this volume due to its focusing on friends and finally seeing all the set-up over the past volumes coming to fruition. Takahashi's art also continues to be a delight.
The past books horrible set up finally pay-offs in this masterfully crafted volume
Finally an amazing volume! Everything hits the rights notes, even the light genre dipping into horror fits the overall tone so well. The cast is also back with their full charm, and there is some amazing character growth for Kaiba.
Looking back, when I am going to think about why I enjoyed Yu-Gi-Oh! this volume is going to spring into mind.
The conclusion to Yugi vs. Jonouchi (Joey). Also the Beginning of the Battle City finals. First duel starting with my favourite boys/rivals Yami Yugi vs. Yami Bakura. I love this duel!
And we begin the Battle City Tournament Finals! The Elite 8 have been chosen and the location revealed; a blimp! Kaiba has upped the ante with the finals, as the duelists are battling against the elements of the skies as they battle IN THE AIR! Of course, Yugi is up first and he has to fight Yami!Bakura. Bakura is still linked up with Marik and is determined to defeat Yugi and steal his Millennium Puzzle. Bakura has got this scary Occult deck that deals with spirits and Ouija boards. It ends with a cliffhanger in the midst of the Bakura/Yugi duel. It was a decent enough volume but rather light on the excitement as it merely ties up the aftermath of the Jonouchi/Yugi duel and introduces the Elite 8 Duelists for the finals. I did really enjoy the conclusion of the duel with Jonouchi (despite the raging cheese) as it showed his development as a duelist. Bakura's deck is really cool and I'm sure Yugi will find some loophole to defeat it, but it was nice to see different combos being used.
