Ben Bonner is an uptight, conservative lawyer who has everything except for love. After one heartbreak too many, his best friend Carey arranges for him to move in with a magical character named Jack. Urban legend has it that whoever lives with Jack will immediately find their soul mate and live happily ever after. However this match comes with a catch because Jack is also a middle-aged party animal. And although he finds his roommates love, Jack also ruins every other aspects of their life.
Desperate to find his special one, Ben moves in and immediately meets Anna Henderson, a smart, beautiful woman who takes Ben’s breath away. Anna, though, isn’t the type to sit around waiting for a man. She’s witty, spirited and she has a few secrets of her own. In fact, she isn’t even sure how much she likes Ben… which makes it too bad that in his frustration, Ben breaks Jack’s Cupid-like powers. With his powers gone, not only is Jack unable to get Anna to fall in love, but no one else in the world will be able to fall in love either.
So now with his life crumbling around him and the love of his life fading away, it becomes essential for Ben to get Anna’s help so that together they can; fix Jack, help the world to love again, and just maybe, live happily ever after.

Fixing Cupid by Cristian YoungMiller has a great plot outline. Ben Bonner, is a lawyer who can’t find love. So through a series of events his best friend (an ex-fiancé) Carey helps him move in with mysterious Jack, who turns out to be cupid. But before the love of his life can love him back, Ben ‘breaks’ Jack. Together with Anna (the love interest; who is a fellow lawyer; and bartender) they try to fix Jack’s cupid powers so that she can love him back. Oh, and the rest of the world can fall in love too.
The outline is a wonderful concept, then you throw in a “The Hangover” type crude humor, and it goes a little south of a top seller. The humor is great if you are into ‘wang comparisons’ and…well, there is a bit with a baby that is totally inappropriate, but okay, I found it mildly amusing. Some of it reads off as a movie script and I would totally watch this movie. But as a book it was one crazy event after another that you almost need to see to completely wrap your head around. It’s good for a good laugh, there are plenty of those in the book, but the base storyline seems to be strong in the beginning, loses it away near the middle, then finds itself in a keg party, and drunkenly stumbles back on track near the end of the book.
On the plus side it is a quick read, so if you like crude humor, by all means pick this one up, it has plenty of that, and somewhere in there, there is a nice bit of romance.

I don't know how to review this . On the whole I thought the story was good and it had my attention but I was annoyed by two of the characters. Ben's best friend and her boyfriend.
I'm leaving this review unrated - because I'm too uncertain how to rate it. Probably stems from the fact that I harbor a lot of sympathy for the writer and I find the premise very promising, but I finished the book with a distinct feeling that maybe my time would have been better spent doing something else.
This is a sort of spin on the myth of Cupid - I am reluctant to call it retelling, because it doesn't take specific myths and rewrite them, just takes the basic idea of cupid and his abilities. Maybe it's not even a spin, just making an assumption of what Cupid would be like if he existed (being a part of the Greek Pantheon makes him immortal, so naturally, he would be able to appear in modern day USA). Up to this point I am well with the story. Also, the idea that Cupid's abilities are reliant on his behavior is a great starting point and the character's are mostly lovable (the main ones, at least).
So there's a great base - a nice idea, good conflict and characters that are easily relate-able. However, beyond that, the book seems to crumble to bits. I think what it really needed is a good group of beta-readers, a strong editor and a hell-of-a-lot proofreading.
Some secondary characters are completely laughable (and not in a good way). In this type of light-humored novel, I don't expect multidimensional characters, especially not the supporting ones, but they are too one-dimensional to be forgivable. Though I did love Champagne and Chip had some redeeming qualities, on occasion.
The humor is inconsistent: at times it is great, but, more often than not, it feels forced. I have to say that some references (like the size of Ben's member, if ya know what I mean) feel completely inappropriate - it is not the kind of story to which it is in any way essential, and a story to which it is essential, is one I wouldn't care to read. I despise bodily humor. I prefer mine be served in a big heap of wit, not crudeness. Oh, there is that sort of humor, too, but not enough.
The story line, at some point, took a turn that should have dictated a different ending, but since the result was decided in advance, it was just forced back on track.
There are two methods to avoid that: 1. continue with the road the story taken and follow where it leads, 2. rewrite the section that circumvented the story, so it falls in line with the desired ending. A forced ending is one of my biggest pet-peeves when it comes to story telling.
Unfortunately, the other big pet-peeve is another thing that is prevalent in this book - faulty grammar and bad prose. There was too much of it to be ignore. One of the parts that made me want to practically hurl the book at the wall (the only reason I didn't was it meant hurling my kindle, which is one of my prized possessions) is near the end of the book, where the characters are described as screaming, and then was attached the quote "aaahhh!". You don't say! (from the setting it was clearly implied the content of the scream). If it was meant as a joke, it just came of amateur-y.
The cover is simple and colorful, that with the title does catch your attention. It's not a very long story, just over 120 pages.
The story itself was great. The pace was pretty fast, so you were never bored. I laughed my a** off when Ben was watching the lioness get the crap kicked out of her and the line was something like "The first rule of Gazelle fight club, is there is no Gazelle fight club." Making the idea that the animals are all bored and the Gazelles and Zebras all chase down the lionesses for fun.
Ben's very waspish girlfriend dumps him for a massive black man, and when his best friend's husband finds out he was the previous fiance that relationship gets strained. But not severed, I'll give Carey credit for that. Ben and Chip even become...well closer...I still think friends would be stretching the truth. lol
Yes Ben falls in love, but the point of the story is that Ben breaks cupid. Cupid has be be carefree, childish, happy. Ben snaps him out of it, and Cupid gets caught up in saving the environment - no one will ever fall in love again. Great job, Ben! So Ben and his love, Anna work together to fix Cupid.
So I did enjoy the story. Now I have to get mean here for just a minute. The spelling mistakes are plenty, there are also tons of misused words. In the beginning of the story he mixes up Sherry (the ex) and Carey, and toward the end he uses the "defense" when it obviously calls for "prosecution." I don't want to get really mean, but I would recommend the author give his book out to some friends with red pens and ask them to go to town on it. I had to knock a star off for this...it was just too much.
Should you buy this story? Well it's $2.99, so it's not real expensive. It's a quick read, and it is funny and entertaining. Cristian does have a way with words, and is a talented storyteller. Even with the downside of grammar, I couldn't wait to start his other story I have. Look for that review soon, too!
This book was really funny! I was so pleasantly surprised by that, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was a short story, but it didn't seem too short. I thought it was a really good length for the story that was being told. It reminded me of the hangover with all of the crazy antics going on. But it wasn't too outrageous- everything came together in the end. And everything was there for a reason. I really like that in a book.
I also really enjoyed the main character, Ben. I could really relate to him, and felt so bad for him at the beginning of the book, when he was describing all the women that have left him for other guys throughout his life. But even the sad parts of the book were written very humorously. Cristian YoungMiller has a way with writing humor very successfully.
Ben's friend Carey bugged me in this book though. She was my least favorite character. She just blurted out things about her and Ben's past without even thinking about it or the consequences it might have. And even when the consequences presented themselves- she didn't even seem to care. She didn't seem very genuine. I even liked her boyfriend, Chip, more than her. I at least found him funnier. But other than Carey, I have no complaints about this book. It was a fast paced, fun read. It put me in a good mood and I read it in no time. I really enjoyed this funny and cute book!
Laugh Out Loud Funny! What does one do when they break cupid?!?! Ben thought things were finally looking up. He was even thinking of maybe, popping the question. Then his life is moved to the core when he looks inside a small closet to see everything he owns packed inside. Asked to leave the place he has called home, he goes to the one place he knows he is accepted. His BFF’s. Carey his best friend and her man Chip offer him a place to crash, that is until tension is created when Chip finds out that Ben is an ex-boyfriend of Carey. Promising to give this place a try, Ben moves in with Jack. The story goes that anyone who lives with Jack falls in love and moves out within six months. Shortly after moving in Ben isn’t sure this is for him, it seems like a lot of trouble. After finally having enough of Jack and his child like behavior he confronts Jack and tells him to grow. (Ben needs to remember it’s this child like behavior that has him meeting Anna) Now it’s fight to bring Jack back his child like self and save Cupid. Asking Anna to help, can Ben fix Jack? Not only for himself, but for all of human kind. This book had me laughing out loud many times. I would like to suggest grabbing a glass of wine or something cool to drink and settle down for a night of fun reading, but it’s highly unlikely one will be able to keep their drink in their mouth.
Liking the catchy title and a premise that sounded like it would make for a fun read I started reading Cristian Young Miller's book only to be almost instantly slain by the humor. Not in a good way though. Granted, the idea itself is actually a good one - a unique take on a modern day Cupid, named Jack - and should have made for an enjoyable light read with a chuckle or two along the way. Though it turned out pretty fast that the humor is outrageously and horribly bad, and the characters both shallow and overexaggerated, a combination that made me cringe more than once. To be fair, humor is something very subjective and not everyone likes every type of humorous approach in a story. And in this case, unfortunatelly, what was supposed to make the book fun or even hilarious, simply didn't work for me. Add unnecessary "wang comparisons" and a completely tasteless scene involving a baby. I wouldn't recommend the book, unless I know that a person is really into this brute kind of humor. On a different note - there were plenty of grammatical errors too, so a bit of editing wouldn't hurt the book. In short: A unique premise with over-the-top humor that certainly didn't meet my taste, but might be just the thing for other readers!
This book had such potential to be a great book, but I don't think it reached it. The basic story itself was good. Cupid is Alive! He is going by the name of Jack, and if you are lucky, you can live with him for 6 months! Everyone who has lived with him, ends up finding the one they love! Enter Ben, he hasn't been very lucky in the lady department. His girlfriend just dumped him for another man, his best friends fiance isn't comfortable with Ben staying with them, but now his luck is about to change. Jack is looking for a new roommate! Ben moves in, and it isn't long before he meets Anna. The only problem is, she isn't interested. After getting arrested for taping himself to a water buffalo, Ben tells Jack he needs to grow up. Now Cupid is broken, and no one is going to fall in love until he gets fixed. Sounds good right, but then you read about the gazelle fight club, breast feeding during the lock-in, and the water buffalo attack, and you start to wonder what kind of drugs the author was on when she wrote those scenes. There were some really good parts of the book, enough that I am really debating to as to if I will keep the book or deleted it (I downloaded the book to my Kindle from Amazon.).

This is a short humorous story that had a lot of promise. Ben's biggest problem is he has no passion; he just goes through the motions of living his life but doesn't fully engage himself in anything but his career. The plot of the story flowed well. The problem for me was the author told us the story, instead of engaging us in the story. The characters were described well. Chip, Ben's ex-fiancés boyfriend, was handled best of all. If the author had done as well with the rest of the characters as he did Chip, I think I would have engaged with the story more. There was something the author got right with the way Chip interacted with Ben that was missing with the rest of the characters. There were a few wrong word usages that occasionally threw me out of the story. One plot point that bothered me was Jack could bring people together without them having to live with him; all they had to do was be in physically close proximity to Jack. Bottom line, it is a clever story, that didn't reach its full potential.

The first rule of gazelle fight club; there is no gazelle fight club! This line and many others made reading Cristian YoungMiller’s story, Fixing Cupid, extremely fun. Ben, a lawyer in search of love, finds himself living with a real life Cupid. The only problem is that Cupid (aka Jack) is broken and Ben still can’t seem to find the love of his life. Through many escapades with Jack, Ben finds love and discovers a different side of himself.
This was a wonderful love story! I enjoyed it immensely. I was captured at the beginning and could hardly put it down. Several times I had to explain to my husband why I was laughing so much. A quick read for a day at the beach or a rainy Saturday morning, Fixing Cupid is sure to touch your heart and leave you happy!
If you are the type who enjoys humor from movies with Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) or Kevin Smith (Dogma)then you will most likely enjoy this book. The humor is a little on the crude side. There are a few typos that sometimes distract from the reading but overall an enjoyable read.
This book is a unique take on the myth of "Cupid." The main character, Ben, moves in with Jack who is supposed to be a modern day cupid in the hopes of finally finding his special someone. Jack has a way about him that allows others to find their soul mates, but life with him isn't easy in the process. The reader will laugh at some of the more comical parts to the novel. Ben finally discovers Anna during his stint with Jack. Anna is everything he is looking for in a soul mate. However, Anna isn't easily convinced that Ben is her soul mate. She's a tough cookie to crack. The story really takes off from here.
Anna is a great character. She's amusing, smart, and shrewd. Ben is more lovesick, fumbling, but kind. Jack? Jack's a piece of work, but he provides much of the comedic relief in the novel. The characters are fun to read about.
This book was fairly fast-paced, the plot was interesting, and the twist on Cupid adds to the appeal. This book is recommended to adults.
I received an electronic copy of this book through the Library Thing Giveaway for an honest review. The book is really a fun and interesting read filled with humor. However, there were bits and pieces in the story which I found a bit boring. I constantly feel that there was something missing in the book. The characters were really great. Ben was a kind of person getting into one trouble after another without his own fault. Then there comes Carey and Chip, the characters I really like. Carey is Ben's ex-fiancee and this revelation to her fiancee Chip spices up matters a bit among the threesome. For full review click here.
Attorney Ben Bonner has just been kicked out of his condo by his girlfriend of a year who has just told him she has fallen in love at first sight with a man from her gym. Dazed and finding his stuff already packed he turns to his best friend ex-fiance Carey. When Carey's fiance, Chip, finds out that all the stories he was told about the ex-fiance was Ben, Carey decides to take quick action and find Ben another place to stay. But when Ben moves in and meets his child-like roommate his very world spins out of control. This story was laugh out loud funny and a great way to spend an afternoon in the sun.
"Fixing Cupid" by Cristian YoungMiller was okay. It was about Ben needing to find the love of his life and his best friend, Carey, helps him find a way to do this. By rooming with Jack, he soon finds the love of his life, Anna, but deals with some crazy, wild antics along the way. The story was really hard to follow at times and tended to jump around a lot. And, the main idea of the story that Jack was cupid and this is how his roommates find love was a great one, but the story just needed to be more down-to-earth. I give it 2 stars.
Fixing Cupid by Cristian YoungMiller, was a funny read, up until the last several pages. When Cupid goes off the deep end, a young man tries to save him. Unfortunately, some of the scenarios he gets himself into while doing this are ridiculous. I lost interest. The story could have been good with a little more thought put into the ending.
I did not hate the story, I just think the 'dilemmas' he found himself in had so many obvious solutions that were overlooked by everyone in the situation. It was just ridiculous to me.
When Ben Bonner 'breaks' Cupid (Jack) it is up to him and his would-be love to fix him unless they want the world to go on forever without love. This story was cute and romantic with a touch of fantasy. I enjoyed it.

This book by Christian YoungMIller was a delightful, easy read. The thesis is that cupid actually lives and helps people find romance but for some reason he has lost his touch because he has followed other ideas. Obviously our lead character wants and needs cupids help and beside helping cupid lose his touch, he helped him get it back. How? Read the story.
J. Robert Ewbank author "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'"
What would you do if you had just found the love of your life and then turned around and broke Cupid? There is no hope that your chosen one will fall in love with you as long as Cupid is broken. This is a delightful story and fun to read. With the mentioning of a man nursing a child to the fight clubs that appear outside a window one should truly enjoy this short book. The characters are interesting and fun to get to know. Very good read.
Fixing Cupid is a great distraction, once i started i could not stop until i finished, and i still wanted more. It had everything you are afraid to let yourself to want. If you had a chance to find your true love just by being roommates with a Middle age party animal with the name of jack, would you do it? check this book out to find out what ben does.
Interesting take on what happens when Cupid no longer behaves like Cupid. How bad can it be for the young attorneys who can't fall in love?
Silly, enjoyable read. It was a fun little book. It could have been a bit better. I felt that the relationships were superficial, even the ones that were supposed to be long and emotionally tied. No great novel here, just a "what if."
Terribly edited, I read this book solely because it was free in the Kindle store. It's entertaining at times, but on the whole I found the author's tangents distracting. There were also all sorts of eye-roll worthy problems with the courtroom scene. Funny at times, but overall pretty bad.
I give this novel 3 and a half stars. The beginning was hilarious and I was really enjoying it until things became kind of bizarre. The author does have a way with words though, and I laughed at many of the one-liners. Clever writing. An enjoyable read.
A very cute story, I just wish it had been a bit longer. I would have loved to have seen it fleshed out more by the author. Jack was definitely a great twist as far as his character is concerned and the author clearly has potential for more great things. Nice free and easy read!
Maybe 2.5. A problem with e-books is not being able to tell that there are tons of excerpts at the end. The book was ok. I found several typos (bothers me more than it should). Ok concept, but characters weren't developed.
This was a free book on Amazon.I hated it. I read the beginning and end. It really was over the top with bodily functions and references to his large package and just weird...
