Highland Cactus is a collection of short stories infused with succinct poetry. The stories are set in different regions in Kenya with a focus on the North of Kenya and Marsabit. The characters take the readers through their experiences, talking about growing up, the desire to kill that which hurt them, the poison that hometowns can be and the need to get away, the feeling of abandonment in cases of domestic violence, and the suffering of children in these situations. The stories are light and heavy, with a rawness that will definitely evoke emotions and trigger the reader's minds to come on the ride.
