The author was a master of poetry, one of the eminent poets of pre-Islamic times. His poetry was known for accuracy of expression, quality of structure and eloquence of meaning. He began his poetical works with the great poem (Kifa Nabki ala Dhikra Habibin wa Manzili). He classified his diwan alphabetically according to rhyme.
