A helpful introduction to the core concepts of content marketing. It was published several years ago, so some of the technical information is dated. The book is geared mostly towards business owners who want to add content marketing as a component of their existing business rather than people currently working as content marketers. However, as an introduction to the subject, it's a good read.

I was really eager to read this book, hoping that it would be rich with content marketing secrets that would take my content to the next level. I didn't find that, but Content Marketing for Dummies constitutes a valuable resource on several levels.

It's great for getting your ducks in a row.
If you know you need to document, organize, and systemize your content marketing -- but haven't yet -- this is likely to help. Most of the information wasn't new to me, but it did spell it all out in simple steps that had me taking feverish notes.

It's a great primer for non-writers.
This could be a key part of the curriculum for any member of your team you want to ease into a role as a contributor of content. If they have the topical expertise to create valuable content, this can help them share it with the world.

It's great for business owners.
While there are some prerequisite skills, everything here is spelled out pretty simply and from the beginning.
I would feel very comfortable recommending it to business owners who want to better understand and take an active role in their online marketing.

To create a balanced strategy, I would suggest supplementing this text with some blogging education, a more intensive look at one or two primary content outlets, and a fresh understanding of the evolving meaning of SEO in 2013.
