Warning, do not compare your male against Feral, you will probably be disappointed.
Fox and Feral are the two enhanced humans who have been working together in military covert operations for years together. Fox is Feral's commanding officer. They both now work for the FBI. On a hostage situation, Fox is hurt by one of the kidnappers. This causes Feral to literally go "feral". Fox is the only one who can pull him out of his berserker rage. A love between these two is verboten because of their work reporting structure and other possible complications.
Feral is a strong, sexy dominant with a romantic streak. I have always been a fan of Ms. Knight, especially her sexy alpha males. This novella is consistent with her sultry writing style. I enjoyed this short story. I am a fan of futuristic military storylines. This one contained humans whose DNA have been enhanced.
I enjoyed the switch here where the female, Fox, is the hesitant one. Instead, Feral is the one that believes love trumps all. The sex is rough and sexy, just the way I expect from Ms. Knight. There is something about the way she writes an alpha male that just makes me want to melt. I like how her heroines aren't as easy to submit as I am. Instead, they fight it and are a challenge to the dominant male. This is not to say that Feral isn't sweet. In fact, his ability to be sweetly romantic caught me off guard and made my heart soften just a little bit. Obviously, Feral is a storybook character, not real.
The only complaint I have about this story is that it was too short. I wish it were longer. Perhaps she will have a series in this world. One can only hope.
I recommend this light and smexy read to people who enjoy happily ever after endings where love triumphs all obstacles. (And, if you enjoy sexy alpha males!)

This was a quick but great story. I only wish it was longer because I enjoyed the characters and plot. FBI agents Candace Fox and James Feral are part of a special branch of the FBI. They are part of the Desert Warriors program and have had enhancements to make them more. They have been partners for years and before that Candace was his commanding officer in the Marines. They have both secretly wanted each other. What will happen when they finally decide to give into temptation?

Could easily have been extended into a longer book.Sad & surprised it was so short- I didn't check page numbers- will next time - hate shorts that end too soon.

Sizzling Hot Action and Emotion
Candace Fox and James Feral have been soldiers and enhanced Special Service agents for years, but she’s always been his commanding officer/boss, even though they’ve both had feelings for each other for years. One day, their feelings just explode in frustration and lust. I loved this quick read - Fox and Feral were absolutely dynamite together and their “F- You” to the “man” so they could be together was cheer-worthy. A great quick read.

Didn't know it was part of a series so I will have to try the others. Enjoy Angela Knight's ability to pack story, emotion and raw eroticism in a few words.
