Second Chance is the Second installment of a series of short stories through Quakeme.com, a division of Echelon Press, intended to shake up young readers. Hayden is co-writing this story with his son, who is in Fifth grade. What a great team!

This next part of the series takes the twins to Chicago, where they are being forced to perform a dangerous flying routine with their glider wings. And since their last near escape, the professor has placed a collar around Paige’s neck, one that will explode if they try to leave again. In the new city, Dade meets Victoria, a beautiful girl who captures his interest. But she might not be all she seems. Her identity is revealed, and Dade realizes that she’s been merely talking to him for a reason. Or has she? I tend to think we’ll see more of her in the series, and I’m hoping for a happy ending for Dade =)

The steamsmith twins are pushed to the limit when the professor demands more robots than they can build. And now that Victoria’s actions has gotten the twins into even more trouble, they are packing up and leaving once again to a new city. New York. But, Victoria has helped. New information has been given to the detective and he’s got a new lead in locating the twins. It’s getting really exciting! I love all the characters and how their stories are coming together. The steampunk element is amazing. So much fun stuff that anyone, boy or girl, teen or adult, will get lost in the fantasy of the world. Looking forward to the next installment.

Father and son team Sean and Connor Hayden have done it again with this, the sequel to the wonderful First Flight.
Second Chance reunites us with fesity twins, Paige and Dade, steamsmiths at Professor Minus' Carnival. And oooh, how very horrible Professor Minus is.
Along with his henchman Abe, the poor twins are never given a moment's respite, building an army of Minions - called Schminions - for the Professor, fixing the carnival rides, and performing three times a day in their Mechanical Wings.
Throw in a snoopy reporter, Paige's ailing health and her constant mortal danger, a real tug at the heartstrings where Clank the mechanical bird finds himself at the wrong end of Abe's anger, and you have a fast-paced short that really leaves you wanting more.
So, gents, when is the next in the installment coming out? Soon, I hope!

Another amazing story by the Haydens!
I've been reading this series to my boys, 7 & 9, and they are just loving it. It's so wonderful to find a story for young boys...and girls. Yes, I'm enjoying this series so much I've skipped ahead to finish both installments when the kids weren't looking. Even though it is written for young teens, those older and younger will enjoy the very well written story, characters and plot. Full of humor and very engaging I recommend it to anyone no matter their gender or age. Though the story has a satisfying ending in its own right, I can't wait to see what happens with the twins!
