This book was about a girl names Stephanie Farr also known as Stevie. She's 14 years old and the only freshman on her school's track team. She enjoyed running and her father supported her. Her mother on the other hand didn't like for her to run she felt that her grades were more important. Her brother Robby was 12 in 7th grade and was the opposite of her. He didn't do well in school, he didn't any sports and he was always in trouble. She had a crush on the boy's track team coach. He was soon fired for being a lech. Soon her father got really sick and everyone knew he wasn't going to make it. After he died she stopped doing the things she loved to do. She was so angry, she felt that he had abandoned her and left her alone. She eventually began to do them again when she started talking to a boy on the boy's track team named Jeb. He was the only person she felt comfortable talking to and a very good friend. At the end she dreams about running, while running she hears the sound of her feet falling on the ground pounding over and over again. With each step the word "footfalls" sticks to her mind as if there is no end she keeps running. This was a very interesting book all the events that happened made a touching story I would encourage people to read this book because like many others Stephanie went through the same.
