Sixteen prolific years and seventy-four books later, she hit the New York Times bestsellers list for the first time with Accidentally Yours in 2008. She made many appearances in the Top 10 before (finally) hitting #1 in 2015 with Thrill Me, the twentieth book in her most popular series, the Fool's Gold romances, and the fourth of five books released that year.

Susan lives in Washington state with her husband, two ragdoll cats, and a small poodle with delusions of grandeur. Her heart for animals has led Susan to become an active supporter of the Seattle Humane Society. Visit Susan online at www.SusanMallery.com.

I wanted a break from angsty reads, but this may have been overdoing it. Everyone in this book is so excruciatingly nice; it’s enough to make you wish for a skanky other woman or an obsessed stalker. When some conflict finally arrives, it just feels startling and out of place.

Crissy decided to have her baby adopted when she was 17; twelve years later, she wants to get to know the child, and the adoptive parents are pleased as punch to welcome her to the family and basically tell her to help herself to the boy’s outrageously perfect uncle Josh. Crissy obviously hasn't wised up much in twelve years, and Josh is out of practice since his dead wife couldn't get pregnant, and next thing you know Crissy is pregnant again. (It's not a secret baby story, by the way -- she doesn't tell Josh instantly, but she does tell him.) This brings up all kinds of dead-wife-who-couldn't-get-pregnant trauma for him and the hearts and flowers are momentarily interrupted while he acts like a douche.

Crissy is kind of an interesting character. She has a lot of guilt over giving up her baby, but more because she feels like she should have been emotionally crushed than because she actually was. She sometimes seems to be the only person in the book who has anything resembling normal negative feelings and she's always pondering how everyone else can be so open and giving. Hanging that lampshade doesn't really help though, it still feels implausible and weird.

***2.5 Stars***

I really liked the way this book started out. We have Crissy who is a thirty-year-old successful business woman who owns multiple gyms. When she was in high school she and her boyfriend accidentally got pregnant after they gave each other their virginity. She had the child at age seventeen and gave it up for adoption. She wasn't ready for a child and she simply felt she was too young. Her decision was a bit on the selfish side but she could never have given him the kind of life his adoptive parent's were giving him and she had been given the opportunity to select his future family.

The adoptive mother, Abbey, always wanted Crissy to be involved with her biological son, Brandon, but Crissy just put it behind her and moved on. Now at thirty, she knows she made the correct decision for her son's sake but she has regrets and has decided it's the right time for her and her son to become acquainted.

Our hero, Josh is Abbey's brother-in-law and Brandon's uncle. Abbey is becoming acquainted with him and after her first face to face with Brandon and all the family. He stops to see Crissy on the way home. He knows it was rough on Abbey being at a get together with Brandon's family and at this point Brandon only knew Crissy as a family friend. So, Josh and Crissy were immediately attracted to each other and one thing led to another... Josh is a widower, his wife now gone for four years and he was still remaining faithful to her memory. He worships the deceased wife as though she were still living. In his eyes she was perfect and she made him swear to never ever, under any circumstance, fall in love again. Turns out that the wife was certainly not favored by other family members and he refused to face the down side of her and his marriage. She was an extremely manipulating woman and everything was her way or else but he didn't want to see it that way.

When our heroine turns up pregnant and she finally tells him, he was certainly not the man I thought him to be. He screams and yells and has tantrums telling her he doesn't want a baby with her and if he couldn't have a baby with his dead wife he didn't ever want to have one with another woman because that wouldn't be fair his wife. Excuse me but I am gagging here!

Anyway, as usual, there was a happy ending but the turn in Josh at page 282 of 348 was disgusting. He was horrible to her and for this avid reader he did not redeem himself enough to satisfy me.

Crissy is a self made CEO. She doesn't need a man to compliment her. Josh is a doctor, a
widower, an uncle, and an all around good guy. But he just lost his wife 4 years ago and
he's not ready for another woman. This is an emotional story full of ups and downs that
only Susan can put together. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

Crissy is successful at everything she tries except motherhood and knitting. Josh is stuck in a time warp. How do the two reconcile an accidental pregnancy with a biological son being raised by Josh's sister-in-law and brother? Sound like a soap opera? It could be worse. Full of problems to be resolved, the book keeps you hooked until the end hoping for the best for everyone involved.

I'm gonna say 3.5 stars rounded up cause I liked the h and the story is meatier than I was expecting.
Crissy the woman who could kick his ass, and Josh the fool with blinders.
I went into this one expecting fluff like the third book, but the characters were quite interesting. Crissy is a woman of 30 who owns her own chain of fitness gyms for women. She has one weakness though, that she had a child at 16 and gave him up for adoption. Over the years the adoptive parents have kept in touch and would like her to meet her/their son. Keep it open-like. So finally she feels ready and the boy is 12 so it's prob a good time to meet at last.
Josh is the adoptive father's brother and a doctor for kids with cancer. So right off he's a paragon. Handsome, altruistic, and still grieving his wife who died of cancer 4 years ago. But of course Crissy is the first woman to turn in crank since he was widowed and she's feeling vulnerable... one thing leads to another... hot and bothered heads forget to use a condom...

But really the bulk of the story is about the MCs and their growing interest in each other. It's very even handed power wise. I don't feel like Crissy is desperate for him. It was a bit slow here and there and I did get a bit tired of hearing about his dead wife. But it was normal for her to be in the conversation at those points and it leads to a better understanding of his first marriage, which is crucial to understanding his hangups.

By about 2/3 in the pregnant bomb is dropped and Josh drops the ball BIG TIME. Total douche canoe!
And yet I did forgive him, and he did grovel and she didn't immediately trust him again.

Ended up really enjoying it!

Milyoner serisinden sonra sönük geldi bana maalesef.
Konu olarakta sevemedim pek.

I'm not finished yet (in chapter 11) and this isn't a review, just some thoughts:

1. HATE that the author chose to make the dead wife an unlikeable person. It's just as bad as making her a perfect saint. It's a lazy (and insulting) way to make sure that *this* romance is the love of his life--the new wife will be the one he was *meant* to be with.

2. I know people say things they don't mean all the time, but I'm old enough now that I believe there are lines you don't cross. Even in the heat of the moment. "HOW" you argue--the words you choose and the the intent behind them--reveals who you really are. I wouldn't want to be with someone who would be deliberately nasty. Now I only have the rest of chapter 11, and then chapter 12, to forget all this so I'll be happy these two find their way back to one another. Not happening.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I liked Crissy and Josh and found their story to be unique. They both had to grow and overcome some emotional baggage before they could open themselves up to the possibility of a happily ever after. Mallery included a good supporting cast in Brandon and his family, as well as Crissy's friends. Definitely a fun, worthy read!

I love this book! It was really good, and had me tearing through the pages to get to the end. I loved reading about the characters overcoming their past to have a future, and I also loved all the humor the author provided. Definitely a quick, but enjoyable, read. Definitely recommended.

Crissy and Josh. Crissy fell pregnant at 17yrs of age and gave the baby boy up for adoption. Whilst she'd always kept in contact with the adoptive parents, she'd never taken them up on the offer to meet her child and be part of their family....until now.
What a wonderful story of love, acceptance, forgiveness and second chances. This story is very well written with lovely characters and great family relationships. A lovely read

I should start by saying that I have a couple issues with this book, even though I know it is a Harlequin romance and clocks in at 237 pages. This was never going to be an in-depth look at unexpected pregnancy.

That being said, Crissy has spent 12 years (her entire adult life) punishing herself for getting pregnant unexpectedly and putting her child up for adoption. So what does she do when she meets Josh? Has unprotected sex. Someone who punishes themself for over a decade for having an unplanned pregnancy wouldn’t have unprotected sex - or at least, it is very unbelievable.

Second, the ending felt rushed. Brendan finding out, Josh making his peace with his past, his reconciliation with Crissy and her forgiving him all spanned less than 10 pages.

Not Susan Mallery’s best work, unfortunately, but still a good read on a lazy afternoon.

2023 review: this was a fun ebook to read on a quiet afternoon. Sure, there are some things that are unbelievable. It is a harlequin romance. I didn’t go into it looking for a hard hitting expose. 4 ⭐️ this time around

A cute quick read. I love reading Susan Mallery and her stories never disappoint. I didn't realize at the time this was a follow up to Having Her Boss's baby, so it was nice to see those characters again. My only complaint (and it's minor) is where is the epilogue? Yay for the happy ending, but I would have loved an epilogue telling whether they had a boy or girl and how everything turned out especially with Brandon. But, overall I really enjoyed it and now that I see this was a series, I'm going to find the middle book and give it a try.

I was okay with the story and enjoying up until we got towards the end. Then I started regretting that it was a romance novel which meant she couldn't be a strong single mother. Because So the first three-quarters-plus of this story keeps it from being a one star, but...yeah. Not a reread for me probably.

I love Susan Mallery. I was a little nervous when getting this book because I have not liked some of her older books as much. However, this book was great and I hope to read the two previous books in this series!!

I really liked Josh and Crissy chemistry. I loved Pete and Abbey (I'm curious about their story) and Brandon was so cute! I however did not like the Stacey story line at the end. Thankfully it didn't drag on.

I skimmed through this. I was expecting the focus to be on the unplanned pregnancy but the heroine didn't find out she was pregnant for 150 pages and the hero wasn't told until almost 200 pages in. This book wasn't even 300 pages all up; the pacing was far too slow and when they finally both knew about the pregnancy, their reactions were irritating. The heroine's opinions about women were also far too preachy.

So to start off, I did not read this story in order, I do not know anything about the first two books. But this story was really cute and cheesy. It is what I really needed at the time. I was not looking for anything deep. I just wanted to sit down and read a really cutesy type story and that is exactly what you get out of this book. I really enjoyed it. If you want cutesy sweet then you should definately read this story.

When a gym owner decides to finally meet the child she gave up for adoption 12 years ago, she ends up falling hard for the kid's uncle, a widowed pediatric oncologist. However, apparently old habits die hard, and she winds up with another unplanned pregnancy. But the hero has reasons of his own for not wanting kids. This wasn't bad but the ending felt rushed.

I have to admit this was my favorite story of the series. Crissy was so snarky in the other books and that came out in this one as well. What came with it was this wonderful volnerability. It put her in just the right place to let someone sneak past her defenses. Very well done. A wonderful feel good story.

Recommended.

In the mood for light romance... this would do it, has some grit to it... but mostly it's just what it suppose to be... HEA.

Rating 3.25

Read it because the first of the series was an enjoyable read... no stress reading... just sweet.

I had a hard time with this one because everyone is too nice. Even when the hero is being a jerk, he's a wonderful jerk. The characters here are too nice to even imagine being real. That took away from some of the enjoyment I typically get from Ms Mallery's writing.
