The question is can i finish two more before the end of the year 2017! and since its so cold and i spend most of my time in bed i would say yes after all if i am excited i would be able to finish 3 volumes in a row. The problem is not so much excitement for a few volumes now, but overall i like the development of the story. So the aliens were really aliens after all! Now new aliens occupy the earth indefinitely, the gantz teams from all over the world trying to fight back. They will probably succeed but at what cost? that is what i would like to know!
La historia se puso interesante de vuelta, me gusto que aparecieran más los personajes secundarios y sobre todo como viene avanzando la historia de Cherry, me dio pena y a la vez me impresionó su evolución.
Synopsis: Gantz tells the story of a teenager named Kei Kurono, among others, who die but find themselves brought back in perfectly healthy bodies and forced to participate in a "game" where they must hunt down and kill aliens.
Review: I almost gave up on Gantz several times, but now that I've read it all the way to the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. The beginning is dragged down by repulsive and unlikable characters, a messily paced story, unnecessary sexualization and gratuitous violence without much substance. As it progresses, however, the character development becomes pretty incredible and the growing threat of the enemies feels truly well done. Once the real enemies are revealed, it's mind-blowing how the series had been secretly foreshadowing their arrival from the very beginning.
Although it takes a while, some really good characters are introduced later on in the series and they're the ones that made me want to read to the end. Some characters that were absolutely unbearable in the beginning became polar opposites of their original selves and even made me sympathize with them quite a bit. The protagonist Kei for example, I hated him with all my heart for the first third of the series, he became progressively more likable in the second third of the story and then he evolved into one of the most memorable, unlikely heroes I've ever seen in this storytelling medium throughout the final third. The last third of the series is unbelievably terrifying with some of the most gruesome and disgusting battle/survival scenes in the history of fiction. It's much more bearable and intense in the final third because this time the violence and horror is happening to people we actually care about instead of a bunch of unlikable nobodies.
The final third of the story is what made me feel so glad that I didn't give up on this series. It had me on the edge of my seat more times than I can recall. There are a ton of chapters but they're very short and full of action which makes the series a quick read despite having almost 400 chapters. So even though the first third of the story was kinda bad in my opinion, it doesn't last for long and the payoff that comes after it's over truly impressed me. It's a flawed, thrilling and horrifying action series that takes a while to kick off. When it finally kicks off, however, it kicks off extremely hard.
Tonkotsu died earlier and made Sakurai going crazy. He runs amok and kill a group of alien soldiers with his awakening psychic power! At the same time, second Kurono, Reika, Kato, Kaze and Takeshi went to the room to find the black ball. They formed a rebel forces from the Gantz team around Japan. Here comes the surprise! The nerdy guy from the Osaka team kept his promise by reviving Anzu. Both of them joining the rebel forces to rescue the human on the spaceship.
On a while, the original Kurono take hostage of an alien woman that will help him rescue the human from the spaceship.
I really like the implications of the actions of the alien giants here, so I'm not too bothered by Tae this time, since she basically serves as a message to the reader. And I also kind of like the way Kurono went about first saving people and then back to saving Tae. It's a selfless thing to do and that's how far he's come since volume 1. Granted, the part about him having just the right help he needed was a bit too convenient, but meh, he's the main character, duh! And speaking of him, well, the other Kurono is planning a daring raid.
Gantz/31 is the 31st edition of this graphic novel. What was thought to be games set up to put recently deceased humans against progressively difficult alien invaders is revealed to be not a game but actual invaders coming to conquer the world as the aliens seek new places to inhabit. That gives away the big picture that is revealed here but none of the details. It's a terrific read.

As much as I hate the thread involving the telekinetic dude, the best gore in this volume was the scene where he rips apart the alien with his mind. Tae's plight is pretty intense, with some decent interactions with the other captive, including the resolution of a conflict in a more mature way than in earlier volumes in the series. Kei's kidnapping plan of course goes awry, but he still comes through, which is to be expected since he is the main protagonist. Decent volume, if not quite as good as the previous.
I didn't enjoy his part too much... Tae is soooo annoying, and Kurono became to be also annoying because of that when he was being quite cool before Tae. Moreover the war was chaotic and too long. And there were too many characters and they couldnt be properly developed. Some of they died in a very little dramatic way. And the ending was simply pathetic. I mean, one more chapter was needed to see the final reactions of the characters who survived!!
