How to you evaluate a book like this? It was helpful in parts and a bit too facile in others. I need help in my prayer life, and I am always up for another book on prayer. And Glaspey himself might say that is the problem. The best way to learn to pray is by praying. ahem Not by reading.
Some great quotes from a wide range of Christian thinkers.
This book was a great primer on prayer. I was also happy to see that I have already adopted a lot of the suggested prayer habits since becoming a believer, but there were also some additional insights in the book that were awesome. I found that the book deepened my understanding of prayer as it relates to our relationship with God and how he views and values our prayers. I would recommend this book to anyone new in the faith and even to a more seasoned believer as they may find some fresh insights for their prayer life. I especially liked the index that the author included at the end of written prayers. Very inspiring :).
Helpful and Well Written I enjoyed reading. It is helpful and well written. I could agree with most of the suggestions presented, but most importantly it provided the much needed urge and inspiration to give oneself to prayer. It does not sound intimidating as you read it, even for one who may not have much of a prayer life, while written by one who seems to be more than the average person, devoted to prayer. I would heartily recommend this to anyone who wants to have a serious but delightful prayer life.
Great tidbits on how to develop your prayer life. I was very pleased to find that I do or have done many of the keys mentioned, but never really considered it as part of "legitimate" prayer time. Prayer, like everything else, is what you make it and you get out what you put in. Great little book for those wanting to explore other ways to practice prayer.
