Describes her career as an astrological advisor to Ronald and Nancy Reagan during their White House years, discussing her impact on U.S. policy and key events of the Reagan administration
This Ronald Reagan High School graduate FINALLY discovered that Ronald Reagan had an astrologist who determined when he would take off on Air Force One and have important meetings. Why this was not required reading at my high school I am not sure, and am disappointed.
Some highlights: - It is much more convenient for an astrologist to work with clients who have access to private jets because commercial air times are not precise enough. - My moon is in Taurus like "Ronnie's!" - Learning how Joan advised Nancy to advice Reagan to handle the Geneva summit with Gorbachev was very enlightening. - I learned there are so many kinds of astrology like synastry (analyzing how two people might get along, very important for handling sensitive political meetings), or elective (time to begin a thing).
Joan tended to see executive power as very important in a scary way, but overall this was a fun read that gave a lot more insight into the time and administration!
this is a nancy reagan hit piece nestled inside a pro-american government, pro-ronald reagan, and pro-republican piece of propaganda by a terrifying rich lady who happens to work with astrology. if you have ever wondered what belongs in the venn diagram of 1. the field of astrology and 2. the republican party, this is probably the only thing. almost gave it 2 stars solely for the astrology analysis, if it hadn’t been so rudimentary. the perfect gift for your kooky Q-Anon aunt!
Not the greatest read, but a fascinating look at what it was like to be the Reagan's astrologer. Somewhat overwritten and the author is a little full of herself, but a must read for anyone interested in the history of astrology in the U.S.
Her fawning devotion to Reagan and really all authority figures is absolutely revolting... disgusting. .. embarrassing....but this book is hilarious as hell so average five stars for humor and one star for Reaganomics and presto hey 3 star average.
Btw one of my besties gave this to me as a joke so yes I own it LMAO
Interesting so far as learning how and when the Reagan’s used astrology during “Ronnie’s” presidency, and how it worked out. However, the telling was jumbled and seemed to be chronologically challenged. How highly the author thinks of herself is obvious from page one and at one point I almost stopped reading because of that. Bottom line—all the astrological advice in the world won’t help if it’s ignored. Meh.
I found a lot of interesting facts and how to use elective astrology in a person of power’s chart so that was dope. However, Joan is a Christian Republican who actually thought the Reagan’s were good people lol. She was very biased at times and felt like she was relishing some details. Overall interesting and gave me insight into astrology of the 80s vs now.
Very interesting "inside look" at the work of the astrologer to the President and Nancy Reagan. If you are looking for astrological techniques, this is not the book for you.
Absolutely fascinating read. You really have to be into astrology/an astrologer to understand the finer points but I’m loving this Nancy Reagan diss book. So much shade, highly recommend.
