Spirituality today has become much more personal than yesterday's religions. People long to explore, express and empower them-selves, without the traditional outer layers of a defined doctrine or denomination. In this environment, the message becomes peace, love, joy and freedom and resonates as "home." Unity is a home offering a positive, practical, progressive approach to spirituality, honoring the universal truths in all religions and respecting each individual's right to choose a spiritual path that fulfills their unique lifestyle. HOW TO SPEAK UNITY is an A-Z guide for living life as it s meant to be lived, fully and joyfully.
Temple Hayes is senior minister and spiritual leader of the influential 1,300 member Unity Campus in St. Petersburg, Florida—one of the top ten leading-edge Unity communities in the world. She is a unique spiritual entrepreneur, motivational speaker and shamanic healer who has spent her lifetime studying the connection between heart and mind and how changing our beliefs about God can change our lives and help us to live more authentically. Hayes is a whirlwind of high energy—unstoppable in her determination to lead a revival of the spiritual left.
When any religious denomination is non-creedal and non-doctrinal, as Unity is, the reader is not likely to find discussions along the lines of "Do animals have souls?" or "How many different kinds of sins does Unity recognize?" Such concerns are rather beside the point, but this brief (138-page) guide does look at personal and spiritual issues in a recognized Unity way, making the title very appropriate. Not everyone will be satisfied with a guide whose touchstones are staying in touch with the life force (God) and realizing that the world is an inherently energetic and creative place despite its ills, but that's Unity at its core.
