Newert, an erbit wizard is concerned. The magic of Windlier Woods is seeping away. He fears it will be gone for good. He must find the portal to another world and steal enough magic to restore Windlier Woods. Will he be successful? Or will he fail in his quest? Time is ticking away. Book One of The Adventures of Newert.
This is one of those story's that instantly makes you nostalgic for the fun, imaginative stories you read yourself as a child. It had very vivid descriptions and the main character is just adorable with his stubborn, determined objective. The open ending, I hope, suggests at more to follow as I'd love to see more of Newert the Erbit. I'd recommend this to those looking for a simple and sweet bedtime story for kids and if my niece and nephew are anything to go by they should love it. Could easily appeal to ages 4-10 (and even me *lol* as a 29yr bedtime reader).
The concept had potential, but I didn't feel like the plot really went anywhere. Newert, some sort of magical woodland creature, is trying to stop the slow decline of magic in his land. His quest begins at a portal to another land where the solution to his problem lies. He succeeds in opening the door, but then almost immediately returns. I don't see any correlation between what it is I think he brought back and the solution he's after, and as a matter of fact it's not even addressed. It reads like a plug for the "real" book, but I have yet to find a part two.
This was very short - took me maybe 15 minutes to read, if that - but cute. I'd love to see the author take the community and spin it out into a more involved story, because I think it could be something charming.
I literally read this in less than 10 minutes. A little creature named Newert, a fuzzy guy with a staff and a penchant for magic spells, goes searching for the lost magic of Windlier Woods. This was a children's book designed to entertain but honestly, I'm a college student and even I was a little lost. Not much happened. Newert spent way too much time singing and aside from the confusion as to what Newert was actually trying to accomplish (this may be difficult for kids to figure out), there was no tension, no real story - which, of course, is a big problem when you're writing a fairy tale.
Highly recommend this thrill ride of a short story. It is kind of like flash fiction so don't expect a novel length story going in. Everything is to the point and the twist and turns come and go. There are build ups in some places like Newbert preparing for him journey and traveling about ensuring protection spells are in place. Otherwise prepare for a hair raising adventure and an ending that is somewhat tongue in cheek fun. Loved it and highly recommend.
A not very magical short story for children about a creature (sounds like a rabbit) whose mentor once told him magic was leaving their world. So he has been trying for almost 300 years to find a portal into another world to restore his world's magic.
I very simple story, no much to it, it make me feel like I was missing something. It was too long to read to a kid and to short to develop an interesting story chapter book.
