I enjoyed the bits about the social history of popular music in the US, and I also enjoyed the bits about how changing technologies influenced the music industry.
The "Listening and Analysis" segments were interesting, but I would have liked to see the use of actual musical notation. The Listening Charts were, to my mind, a waste of space. The authors say they avoided using musical notation to make the book accessible to non-musicians, but there was plenty of space to add chords and keys, at the very least.
