Having just participated in a tour of Fremantle prison where many true crimes stories where shared about the prisoners who were held there. I looked through the gift shop that would tell me more about some of the stories I heard. I have never read true crime books and this one detailed some horrific crimes but was told as a journalist would. Each chapter shares one story, so you can put it down if it gets too traumatic. 13 Australian criminal stories are told including Anita Cobby and the Granny Killer of Mosman.

Never ever to be released

This book is a great read. The details into what these low life mongrels did to these poor women makes you wish the death penalty should be bought back for these types of crimes.

Chilling and such an interesting read. Paul B Kidd just knows how to write amazing non-fiction true crime. All of his books are worth reading, especially if you're Australian. Some crimes you've never heard of and some are so ingrained in our history, it's terrifying.

This book is much like Cannibal Killers, Sweetheart Killers and Serial Killers, but it's written much better. That's not to say it's fantastic- it's not- but it had clearly been edited. Except perhaps for the chapter page... the numbering was 3, 5, 7, 9 and so forth instead of the correct numbers.

This is about the convicts in the land of convicts who are recommended to never be released. It's rather outdated in some aspects now- it was written in 1993, and some of the criminals have since been released or died- but it still holds the same truth: Australia has produced some screwed up people. Though it's a little bit amusing, to me, that many of these people are from the UK.

Its frightening to think that we have such violent and mentally unwell people in our country and world. This book is a very quick and easy read and provides a good saucing account of each offender, their offence(s) and subsequent sentencing.

The pulpiest of true crime books. The overwrought language, the hyperbole, the clumsy grammar and and clunky sentences are all here in abundance. Still an interesting tour through the seedy history of some of Australia's worst murderers and serial offenders (despite some notable absences).
