I chose this book because I picked it up off my friends desk and started reading it, and found it interesting. This book explains some of the problems of underprivileged areas, and how they only make things worse by putting the children into those places so that they develop a hood mentality. When Teddy's sister is gunned down in a drive by shooting, he sets out to get revenge, but finds a child like that along the way and has to decide what to do with the new boy in his life. "They had asked for war. They were going to get it." I like this quote because it shows you how quick they are to respond with violence. The author (Alan Lawrence Sitomer)does exceptionally well when describing the mindset of the hood and it's influence on those in it. He also uses alot of personification and similes to give examples. I would recommend this book to all people who are looking for a good book to sit down and be engaged in.
