Sin, Sushi & Survival: A Memoir

Rate this book
When journalist Erla-Mari Diedericks leaves her husband after an abusive marriage of eight years, her heart is broken, her dreams shattered and her body bruised. Instead of breaking down or turning to self-help books, she shaves off her pubic hair and self-medicates with alcohol, sushi and sex. Botoxed and bewildered, she turns to internet dating, only to find that falling in love is not as easy as she thought it would be. Things take a slippery turn when she gets involved in an underworld of adult sex websites and sex clubs, where alcoholism, sex addiction and suicide become very real possibilities. Sin, Sushi & Survival is the gripping, no-holds-barred story of Erla’s astounding journey.

This was NOT the book that I wanted to write. It is, however, the book I had to write.

What I think of the book? Well since it is about my life, I wish the plot was different! Some characters I wished died a horrible death, others I wished kept on living, and some characters I am so thankful are in my life.
I like the ending though and would not change it for the world!

Every week I get emails from women who have read the book - the women with the broken bones and hearts - but not broken souls...no NOT broken souls....They tell me how it made them laugh and cry and gave them validation. That is the best review any writer can wish for.

I'm very double minded about this book. On one end I found it to be an eye-opener for what really goes on 'underground' (sex-clubs and sex-websites) but on the other end I found it very disturbing. Not for the feint hearted.

Heartbreaking, yet hilarious in a very poignant way.
