Winner of the 1992 International Cookbook of the Year Award from the James Beard Foundation, this book confirms Devi's role as a leading authority on Indian vegetarian cuisine. The book features 200 recipes that have been adapted to today's need for high-flavor, low-fat, quick, and easy-to-prepare meals, inspired by the vibrant flavors of India.
The kind of book I love to read (but not necessarily cook) - a fussy Indian cookbook, with many steps, many ingredients, and it sounds absolutely delicious. It's also an older cookbook, which means many of the things we used to think about food are outdated (ingredients, food philosophy, what's good for you, etc), but still, worthwhile to browse and even cook and yes, eat!
I've always loved the cuisines of India. This cookbook has a wide range of vegetarian recipes featuring flavours and spices of India and flavours inspired by the author's varied food experience and vision. My one of my favorites is the Chickpea Crepes with Asparagus and Sesame Cream sauce.
