On Fire

Rate this book
Take one tall, broad-shouldered fireman in his early thirties. Mix well with one skinny, eighteen-year-old college kid who lives for sex, and the results are sheer pleasure. Sam and Robert are about as opposite as you can get, aside from the fact that they're both into sex with guys. When Sam picks Robert up during Canada Day festivities, neither of them are expecting more than making some fireworks for the holiday. And the sparks definitely fly, especially since Sam is able to recharge his batteries as only an eighteen year old can. Robert finds himself both entranced and smitten with young Sam, who is bubbly and happy and can have more sex in the space of an hour than Robert can believe. But there's a world of difference between eighteen and thirty-two, as Sam and Robert discover along the way. Friends and family add to the difficulties they encounter. But the two of them come to realize that underneath it all, they have more than just a physical need for each other. The emotion that blossoms between them is soon as great as their first sizzling attraction. Drew Zachary, the author of Transforming Hades and Skin Deep, has written a romance as hot as the flame it's named after. Don't miss it!

Drew Zachary is the pen-name of co-authors Chris Owen and Vic Winter.

"Born in the wilds of Canada, Drew grew up with an axe in one hand and a book in the other. Drew's love of writing is outshone only by his love of men. Lucky for him, he can combine the two.

From his father, Drew learned how to wield that axe, fix a carburetor and bake a mean can of beans using fire, gas or electricity. From his mother, he learned how to rotate the tires, turn apples into just about anything from cider to pie to a meatless lasagna, and how to swim. At twelve Drew ran away to join the circus, only to run away from it when he realized just how badly elephant poop stinks.

When Drew ran out of books to read he started writing his own and never looked back. His home is filled with books, unfinished manuscripts and his grandmother's knick knacks. His best friend is a dog named Barney and his pet fish keep him entertained for hours.

Drew writes about love because he still believes in it. Even though he's never found that special man himself, he's never given up hope. Well, never on a permanent basis, anyway."

Well...this review is gonna be short, so I'll just fill it up with some pics, to help explain what this book is about ;)

 photo 8455372_zps79jmmuso.jpg

I really enjoyed reading this one, but I will mention that 80 % of this book is about sex. Hot sweaty, man on man action, and I loved every minute of it.

 photo tumblr_m66u1i1JIK1qlynf0.gif_zps2pnnpef0.jpeg

There was a little bit of a storyline going on though. Hot older firefighter meets young student twink. I actually liked the MC's, eventhough most of what they did was fucking ;) Sam was quite endearing and I loved his hyperactive and insatiable self. He was a very fun character to read about and I think Robert was perfect for him.

And don't get me wrong, there was some romance in this book, but the two of them couldn't seem to get a word in without going at it....which again....I didn't mind one bit ;)

 photo 14819867_zpsevoree0t.gif

So if you're looking for something hot and steamy with a little romantic storyline, that's free of drama...look no further !!

Thanks Susan, for this hot rec...it was exactly what I was looking for ;)

4 stars from me...

Reread on March 1.
Yep, just as hot the second time.

--------------------------------------

WOW, I was in the mood for this. This is one massive PWP!
But I must admit, it was a good one. Yes, it was mainly sex, but it was good sex! It was hot and sizzling.

This book has one incredibly horny 18 year old student, Sam.
description

And we have one very hot 32 year old firefighter, Robert.
description

Sam is totally insatiable when it comes to Robert. These two have sex all the time! On the table, in the kitchen, on the ground, against the wall….

I adooooored Sam. He was so bouncy, I loved it. He just said whatever came to mind, no filter whatsoever.
Robert was perfect for Sam. He just went with the flow. Sam was an unstoppable force and Robert never wanted to tone him down. I loved that about him.

There were some sweet, tender moments between the sex. So it wasn’t all sex. There was some romance. Just enough to keep me interested.

Don’t expect this story to contain a lot of depth. But if you are looking for something hot, without angst and some tender moments, go for it!

I won't be reviewing this one because I honestly don't want to re-read this series and have it fail me. I remember loving it, I remember the hot sex and hot firefighter action and that's how it will stay.

***5 HOT, SWEEET, SEXY, STARS !!***

Well, I need to calm the fuck down after reading this...

There's sex

There's more sex

There's a lot more sex...

People have commented about this being just PWP, but ,yes there is a hell of a lot of SEX but I think it's quite a cute love story ( yes shoot me but I'm a romantic at heart )

Story of Sam and Robert..

SAM

He was like an exuberant puppy....bouncing around all the time...and let me tell you he got 'excited' a lot...I mean a lot!!

"Oh God," Sam groaned, his head dropping back."Make me ache"

'God,this was sexy_Sam was sexy, all wanton and needy...'

Then there's Robert, the hot sexy fireman.....Mental image..half naked fireman brandishing his 'hose' about (sorry, sorry but couldn't resist it ! )

ROBERT

But it's not all about the sex, some tender moments too

"Like the way you touch me,like the way you look at me"

If you're into men who do men,(God even that sounds hot ) I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND !!!!

Okay, so the sex in this book is hot. And frequent. Frequent and hot. And the non-sexual dialogue (what little there is) is pretty good.

The problem is, that pretty good, non-sexual dialogue is almost non-existent. If you took all the sex (and sex-related dialogue) out of this book, it'd be maybe ten pages of the author telling you how their lives are progressing. No showing (except in the sex scenes, of course)...

Now, I love sex, and I love reading sex scenes in my romance. But there's very little romance here. There's no character building, no chemistry outside the bedroom, nothing at all that indicates these two are a good match outside the bedroom. Just vague references. When Sam's father questions their relationship and how they can have anything at all in common, Rob says that Sam is extremely interesting, and that he knows more about history than Rob does about firefighting. Well, that's awesome. You know what would have been even more awesome? Learning that through some actual character interaction.

It sucks. Because I can tell Drew Zachary has writing talent. It's there. It's just not being utilized.

I'll be reading the sequel. Still, Removed from Kindle.

DNF at 23% - It's PWP - total PWP.
I need more characterisation, some conversation that isn't just preliminary to sex or a litany of 'harder, faster, please'

Sam 18yrs is the original energiser bunny; all small, cute and bouncy with an ever-ready dick. I got to the start of chapter three, he'd already cum at least eight times and was just getting started on his next orgasm.

Robert 32yrs is a giant fireman with a big dick; who wants a relationship, honest, if they ever stop f*cking long enough to talk that is.

Age differences don't generally bother me of themselves but Robert constantly thinks of Sam as 'the kid' Sam all wiggle, bounce and puppy-dog-eyes comes across as very young.

This could have been made into an engaging bit of p0rny-fluff, but it's just the sex olymipcs. In the alley, in his pants, in the shower, in his uniform... At least as far as I got Robert was refusing to use the emergency vehicles.

--
Oh and the cover didn't scream hot fireman being climbed by a nympho, my first thought was gimp being attacked by the amazing spagetti monster!

Um, let's just say that this entire book is basically smex. So if you want PWP then this would be a really fine choice.

What little plot that does peak out was sweet and tender, as Sam and Robert navigate their differences and realize that they're just as compatible in bed as they are out of it.

It starts off with a bang and really doesn't stop. Ever. Seriously.

This book is HOT!

I'm not sure if saying I loved this book is good enough. I am a huge fan of firemen especially hot ones and this one was no exception. The title fits just perfectly because this book was on fire! It was one of the hottest, sexiest books I have ever read and normally a book with all sex would be an issue, but this had a plot incorporated into the story.

Sam is a young kid in the beginning and Robert, well he's not an old man, but there was an age difference. None of that was much of an issue, it came up, but it wasn't something the MC's brought up constantly. I was surprised, but happy that it was the case. This book had some good humor in there... I enjoyed Sam's little quirk he can come so many times!!!

At first glance this book may not strike you as being that good. To be honest it starts off with sex, and that is a recurring thing. But we had some good possessiveness, a few laughs and a lovely first I love you scene. There is also a bit of a fetish here a fireman fetish which made me giggle more than once. Then we had Sam's dad. Enough said about him and Robert.

It's not very often I can say a book ticked so many boxes for me. I like hot books, but those books need to have some plot, this did. I like age differences done well, this had that. I adore some humor and this had that at times when it was funny and actually made me giggle. Plus I love a man in uniform. So, my boxes were ticked.

I really think people should give this a go. It is worth a read even if you don't fall in love with it.

180 pages full of sex.... Holy Moly!!!

Not a blond twink, but certainly HOTT... (Somehow I was inspired with pics of Marlon!!)

Our blond guy Sam was just a big sex kitten!! Totally smitten with this 14 year older hot fireman Robert.

Although there was soooooo much sex, there was also love that developed.
Obviously these men were crazy about each other!!

"Seven years this fire had been burning in him without any sign of going out. He was damn happy he had a man who could make the flames grow hotter.
And going by the heat in Robert's eyes as they watched him getting dressed, the feeling was mutal."

So if you're in the mood for some non-stop-man-loving, read it!!

What I liked most about this story is that it doesn't fall into the usual cliches to tell what is truly a very well paced and quite memorable love story. There is no angst, there are no mind games or lack of communication that is so often used to build unnecessary tension. Both of these guys say what they mean and mean what they say. I found it very refreshing and often times found myself laughing outright at the things that would pop out of Sam's mouth at the most unexpected moments. He is incorrigible and I just loved him instantly and whole heartedly. It's perfectly understandable and believable as you get to see and know Sam as Rob does, how a man his age, with his experience would throw caution to the wind and follow his heart when what begins as merely a mutual physical attraction develops into so much more than either of them ever imagined or expected. This one is a keeper and I'm certain I will re-read it...many times.
Thanks Thorny for the nudge. :)

First of all, there were LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of sex. It was like in every page. Usually these things put me off. Because I want more than just sex, even if I know that what I pick up is romance/erotica book. I also usually dislike couple with that too much big of an age gap.

BUT, one thing I can always count on Drew Zachary's books is the fun. In the midst of all those sex, Drew was still able to put smile on my face as the two main protagonists started and developed their relationship. Even if Sam is only 18 and Robert is 32, I had less problem because I was having fun with them.

Scenes like when they meet Sam's dad (and Robert and the Dad start comparing TV-shows from the 80's) just made me giggle or at least have a huge smile on my face. And Drew even write such a lovely epilogue, seven years later, when they're still together. So I'm happy :)

Lots and lots and lots of sex. And then ... more sex. I love my steamy, smexy scenes as much as the next smut lover but I don't like PWP. At first, I feared that this was all the book had to offer. Fortunately, I was wrong. Sam and Robert do get to know each other outside of bed/wall/kitchen table/car/bathroom stall and wherever else they bopped each other's brains out. So, there is a love story and THAT is what saved this book for me. I wish there had been better balance between romance and sex (i.e., more romance, less sex (gasp!)).

Bottom line: not PWP but just barely. Oddly, I'm curious to read the sequel because I do like the MCs. I'm also hopeful - after reading some of the reviews - that the sex/romance balance is better.

This book was appropriately titled - it practically has smoke coming off the pages (or screen in my case). The story has zero angst and 100% sex (literally, there’s very few pages that don’t have these two all over each other). But I’m a sucker for an age difference and there was such a sweet and sexy dynamic between Robert and Sam. I finished the book in two days!

This is a PWP that could be summarized in one sentence: Buff fireman meets horny twink and they have lots and lots of steamy sex managing to fall in love in the process.

Fun times!

Sam is an outgoing, smart, vivacious, cute eighteen year-old college student living on his own and counting down the weeks until his nineteenth birthday, when he’s legal to drink in Canada. He happens to be strolling around the Canada Day offerings when he comes across Robert, a fireman stud and he can’t help but drool.

Robert is a handsome, stable, intelligent thirty-two year-old fireman who is openly gay and looks amazing in a uniform. He’s in a place in his life where he’s thinking more for long-term relationships than simple hookups, but when he sees Sam, he happily goes with the adorable twink.

The night ends up blowing both of their minds, leaving Robert with some confusion over what to do next. He’s not very interested in a strictly sexual relationship but what could he possibly have in common with Sam? Robert makes an admirable attempt to move beyond the incredible, intense sex to start to build a relationship. This takes some work with the bouncy, adorable Sam who is quite happy coasting along on the sexual aspects and indulging in his fireman uniform fantasies.

This could be a simple tale of an older man and cute twink who have some great sex and eventually move on to people more suited for each other, but Sam is given a maturity, intelligence and sensitivity at odds with the superficial image of the flighty, bouncy, sex kitten side of him. He has an honest warmth about him that lends itself beautifully to the need in Robert, creating a solid relationship almost seamlessly.

Despite their age and life differences, Robert and Sam have a partnership of equal footing and their story is told with passion, intensity, laughter, love and an ease that buffets eventual problems. It’s not all steamy sex and effortless laughter as they move through the problems of life, but the characters are skillfully drawn so as to leave you wanting to see more, know more and watch how they’ll evolve and grow.

Sam is a character that slipped into my heart and I completely adored by the end of the book, as his many facets are shown and explored here and there throughout. My one issue with the book was the epilogue, which skipped pretty far ahead, perhaps to show the true stability of a relationship many doubt, but with the lack of overly substantial issues relating to Sam’s age, it almost glosses over what is potentially very problematic.

However, the book has a sequel so I’m looking forward to seeing what these authors create as well as another look at these great characters.

I think I'll like the sequel more.

This is a fun and hot read. The protagonists are likable, even if they are too bi-dimensional. You have to dig a bit to find the substance under all the sex.

Sammy is young and constantly horny. He has no problem to say he loves sex and to pursue it. He is not looking for a long-term relationship. He doesn't try to make himself look more interesting. He is sex in a nice package wrapped up in a cute ribbon.

Robert is a 32-year-old fireman, a mountain of a man, and he lets the young Sammy seduce him, but he also sees something more in Sammy and he tries to seduce Sam out of the sex and into some kind of friendship.

Their relationship develops slowly and by degrees into something deeper. This slow but steady progression was believable, in my opinion, and it also showed different parts of the protagonists' lives. The age-gap theme was embodied by Sam's father, who's closer in age to Robert than Robert is to Sam. It was probably the most interesting part of the story, because it also provided a real issue for the main couple, but it was unfortunately drowned into the constant sex thing.

There were many little episodes that showed deeper feelings. I liked how Sam was able to be close to Robert and comfort him after a hard day at work, but also how passionate Sam was about his studying and how proficient he was as a student. The passing mention of Sam's mother, who died when he was very young, gave Sam a melancholic shadow that contrasted in a good way with his sunny attitude.

All in all I feel this book is a lost opportunity, but reading the blurb of the sequel, I think there will be much more story and since I think I am fond of the main characters, I will appreciate it much more.

Sam is a 18 years old student with a passion for uniform... and when he sees Robert, a 6 feet and half fireman, all wet in his uniform, his "wet" dreams come true. But Robert is 32 years old and, even if the first encounter is a steamy sex session, he thinks that a boy so young can't stay long in a relationship. But if they want to take a change, maybe this will be the best love of their life.

Sam, Sammy, is a wonderful character: a wild cat in bed and a tender puppy outside. He absolutely loves sex, more and often. Without problems and strings attached. But Robert is something else. He can't be only a one night stands.

Robert is the type of man I like best: a huge man outside with a sweet inside; he wants commitment, he wants love forever...

On fire is a sexy romance filled with funny moments. There is a lot of sex, but it is a joyouse and simple sex, an old way sex... with all the stuff you can read in this days, get excited with it means that Drew Zachary has a happy pen.

A bit too repetitive PWP for me. True, I had a few niggling complaints, but 'm picky about my porn.

Bottom line: If you're looking for 95% sex and 5% non-angsty sweetness, this one's for you!

I first read this one a few years ago. I decided I wanted something easy and with no conflict or stress at all, and this one fit.
I had forgotten that this book is easily 85% sex, either thinking about it, talking about it or actually having it.
But Sammy is cute, bouncy, recoups in 20 minutes, goes off more times a day than should be physically possible and literally at the drop of a hat. And Robert is older, more settled but sweet.
But it's those few moments where things are 'real and serious' between them that makes this worth reading.

“Sam, I... I’m never letting you go.”
“You better not.” Sam’s voice was still quiet, but choked with emotion. “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me. You make me feel... good. You listen to me and you let me be me all the time. I don’t ever have to pretend with you, and that’s... that’s really something, you know?”

I guess it's not to everyone's taste, but I really really love these series! Sam and Robert are just so likeable to me and I'm not a big fun of angst and drama and cheating, sometimes I just want to relax with a light, nice read, that'd sure put a content smile on my face. And this's just that book for me :)
Oh and did I mention, that I love firemen? ;)

Okay so I actually prefer a lot more storyline to smut but I enjoyed this book. It is a nice, angst free story if a relationship between an 18 year old student and a 32 year old fire fighter it is mainly a string of sex scenes. Fun fluff for when that sort of thing is needed.
