هذا الكتاب للعراقيين، لا أقصد أنّه موّجه لهم وحدهم؛ ولكنّه يلامسهم ويعيد عليهم ذكرياتٍ لم تزل حاضرة في واقعهم. بدايةً.. الكتاب صدر بعد الغزو الأمريكو-بريطاني بأشهر قليلة، فجلّ ما يبحثه عقوبات مجلس الأمن على العراق منذ سنة 1990 وفرق التفتيش عن أسلحة الدمار الشامل، وتعامل العراق مع كل ذلك.
الكتاب، يُركّز على صقور الولايات المتحدة: رامسفيلد وديك تشيني وآرائهم مقابل آراء كولن باول من جهة وتوني بلير من جهةٍ أخرى، وتحايل الجميع على مجلس الأمن والأمم المتحدّة.. لقد كان صراعًا كبيرًا.. انتهى بقناعات الصقور التي لم يؤيدها أي دليل!
هناك توثيق كبير يدل على جهدٍ عظيم في متابعة الصحف البريطانية والأمريكية وخطب السياسيين وتصريحاتهم.. وفيه محاولة تحليل ما حدث في العراق مع ما حدث في دول المحور بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية.
الكتاب لا يخلو من أخطاء وإن كانت بسيطة: (طارق عزيز/ رئيس وزراء وهو كان نائب رئيس الوزراء) وأخطاء في الاسماء، قد تتحمل مسؤوليتها المترجمة رغم أن الترجمة جيدة...

أيضاً، الكتاب حاول تحليل بعض القضايا الشائكة بطريقة كلاسيكية ومُعلبة، وخاصةً التي تتعلّق بعلاقة الشيعة بالحكم!
المؤلف ينتصر في النهاية للسلام ولا يجد أيّ مبرر لأيّة حرب.
وسيكنشف القارئ العراقيّ أن مصير بلاده كان مرهونًا بدعاية انتخابيّة أو تسابق بين الديمقراطيين والجمهوريين أو المحافظين والعمّال!...
