I laughed and cried during the stories of this amazing mother-daughter pair. The book reminded me to treasure my own mother and to appreciate her wisdom (sometimes with gritted teeth like the author).

What do I think? To my mind this is brilliant book, easy to read with important life lessons. To be honest I prefer different kind of books and when I received this one(my win by the way) while my toddler was sleeping I decided to read first pages of these book, and I couldn't put it down.
People are saying"You will laugh, you will cry but most of all you will see your own mother reflected in the stories"
That's true, I laughed I cried and I thought about my mum, about her life lessons and how often I didn't listened because I thought I know better and I'm right but it was big mistake mum knows better...
Thank you it is amazing book with clever lessons.
My favourite were:
" *no one can stand up for you if you don't learn to stand up for yourself.
*it is okay to fail but find something positive to take out of the experience.
*it is the not cost of the gift but the thought and presentation that is everything.
*when someone says you can't, you just show them yes, you can.
*be ready for life's surprises, they often come at you at the most unexpected moment..."
Its impossible to write down every lesson, but you can read this book by yourself and find out other wise life lessons and related true stories...This book is worth to read.
It helps you fallow your dreams, deal with your own mum and remember basic tenets of life which are not only easy to remember but easy to apply too...

This was a Goodreads win. Thank you.

I am loving this book, so although I have not finished this,(Life keeps getting in the way of my reading) I am going to give this book five stars. Why? Because, it makes me smile, it makes me feel good. First, the writer is brilliant, to be able to do this, an easy to read book. Stories about her mum, who was obviously a very wise, talented and a good and lovely lady. What a pleasure it would have been to have known her!

Later: Finished this book, and loved it all. Will pass it on, as it is too good not to be shared. The author, Sandra Elaine May Scott, shared her family with the reader. Her mum was an immigrant who worked very hard in her community, in many different ways, continually giving of herself and always helping others.

Thank you Sandra for sharing your family, I feel blessed in just knowing them through the pages of your book.

Sandra Scott's book is a lovely tribute to her mother and all of her wisdom. 'In Memory of a Saint' is comprised of vignettes from the author's life that showcase the (sometimes complicated) love between mothers and daughters. Through her charming stories, we learn about their unbreakable bond and gain a deeper appreciation for the beauty in our own relationships that we often take for granted in our everyday lives. The life lessons provide intelligent take-aways, but it's the stories themselves that speak to my heart. This heartwarming book is a wonderful tribute to the wisdom of our mothers!

This was a wonderful tribute to a mother by a daughter. It was very easy to read. I enjoyed all of the lessons along the way.....some gave me memories of things my own mother would have said or done. Other lessons I would love to incorporate into my teachings to my children. I have found much respect for the 'Saint' I have not personally met, but feel I know through this book. A beautifully written book. A treasured 'scrapbook' of memories. Any mother would be honoured to have such a book written about her.
I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

This is a wonderful book full of exceptional vignettes of a mother-daughter relationship. Sandra touches on some beautiful moments, sad times and those hair-pulling moments where you just want to stomp your feet and yell at either your mom or daughter (depending on your relationship in the equation).

Touching and wonderfully true. I loved the stories and I can hear my own mom and grandmother calling out to me from within the pages of this book.

It is a wonderful, quick read, and the stories and lessons will stay with you for a long time.

Well done.

I received this book as part of the Goodreads giveaway program.

What a mother this woman must have had. She had some pretty good advice, once you sifted through all of the personality issues that turned soft hearted people away. Not being from the south, I found some of the stories a little hard to swallow, but all in all a light read and a wonderful tribute from daughter to mother.
