To many in the world, the Christian faith is a set of rules and regulations. But Jesus himself did not teach his followers in sets of dos and don'ts; he taught them foundational principles to live by. These life principles, Charles Stanley says, are the simple truths that act as a compass for our souls. You will Using examples from his own personal experiences, Biblical personalities, and case studies, Dr. Stanley demonstrates how these key life principles impact life in the 21st century-and how they make us, as Christians, different from those who live their lives according to preference, rather than principles.
Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.
Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.
However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.
Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”
Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.
I love love this person- this unique and one of a kind man. His life is like Silas's in that I feel Charles has a hunger and thirst as Silas did to GET THE WORD OUT INTO THE WORLD...get it out because it is only the WORD of God that transforms hearts and minds. Charles has proven ways he has come to believe the way to a richer and victorious life even in the midst of our horrid trials and fears and short comings and the world culture today...I mean his way of 'talking' to me the reader, was like so down to my own way of understanding and receiving the things of God!! Each chapter has hands on help to apply to guide us into a more deep and abiding relationship in Christ Jesus. It is Charles prayer: that we will embrace each on of the principles fully and in doing so, discover the extraordinary life God has planned for you."All of his books in my opinion can and should be read again and again-

You will learn: Your life is a Masterpiece Waiting on God is not passive Disappointments are inevitable, but discouragement is a choice You were created with eternity in your heart God assumes full responsibility for your needs when you obey Him

Charles Stanley is one of my favorite authors. In this book he addresses 9 principles that can help you to live the "extraordinary life" which is a life with a personal relationship with Jesus. Through each of the nine principles, Stanley weaves in God's word and stories from his personal experience. There is no doubt based on what you are currently going through in your life that one or more of these principles will hit you. They cover such things as your prayer life, trusting God, resisting temptation and many others.
A good read that will help you to leave a lasting legacy for your friends and family when you go home.
As always, Dr. Stanley preaches the Word through this awesome book. His books are enjoyable and convicting, and I read them because I can count on the material to be based on Scripture. Anything less by any other author is a waste of time. This book, along with It's Not Too Late by Tony Evans, is a good reminder that each day can be a new time to obey the Lord Jesus Christ. The principles Dr. Stanley teaches are biblically based and challenging. Great read!
“If we live by the principles God has established, He will assume full responsibility for our lives and give us everything we need to live an extraordinary life.”
What an amazing and must read book. It walks you through these principles and gives a clear path to the extraordinary life. Such an impactful and life changing read.
While similar to this author's books entitled IN STEP WITH GOD and HOW TO REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL FOR GOD, this one has it's own unique perspective and helps. I would certainly recommend all three.
In Living the Extraordinary Life, Dr. Stanley stresses the importance that each believer know and live out each day.. that we can do nothing on our own, but that through Jesus Christ we can & will Succeed!! As Philippians 1:6 says "He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."
The Extraordinary Life is the life sustained by an inner peace and joy in the good times as well as the bad. This is accomplished by living in undisturbed union with Jesus Christ, and by His strength!!
Dr. Charles Stanley asks this question as he encourages us to probe the depths of our hearts and to take stock of who we really are. Many people are content to live below their real potential and to settle for less than God intends - just the status quo. He wants us to live victorious lives. This book will appeal mostly to people looking to the Scriptures for answers to living a happy and effective life.
