Abdellatif Laâbi is a Moroccan poet, born in 1942 in Fes, Morocco.

Laâbi, then teaching French, founded with other poets the artistic journal Souffles, an important literary review in 1966. It was considered as a meeting point of some poets who felt the emergency of a poetic stand and revival, but which, very quickly, crystallized all Moroccan creative energies: painters, film-makers, men of theatre, researchers and thinkers. It was banned in 1972, but throughout its short life, it opened up to cultures from other countries of the Maghreb and those of the Third World.

Abdellatif Laâbi was imprisoned, tortured and sentenced to ten years in prison for "crimes of opinion" (for his political beliefs and his writings) and served a sentence from 1972-1980. He was, in 1985, forced into exile in France.[2]

عقب جائحة كوفيد، كنت أعلم أن معشر الكُتّاب سيستغلّون تلك الفترة لكتابة ما أجّلوه من أعمال، هذا إن لم تهجرهم ربة الإلهام. كما توقّعت أن يستغلّ بعضهم الجائحة ذاتها موضوعًا للكتابة، ضمانًا لشيء من الانتشار والشهرة في عصرٍ يواكب فيه الناس "الترند" بشكل جنوني. وبالفعل، ما إن بدأت الحياة تعود إلى طبيعتها حتى ظهرت العديد من الروايات تتناول موضوع الجائحة: موت الناس، كثرة الإصابات، فكرة العدوى، الحجر الصحي، حظر التجول، والملل، بوصفه الشعور الذي يهرب منه الناس وكان أكثر ما واجهوه في تلك الفترة، بعد الخوف من الإصابة طبعًا.

ويأتي "الهروب إلى سمرقند" استثناءًا. يكتب عبد اللطيف اللعبي يوميّاته كعادته، بكسرٍ للقواعد وتميّز لافت. يتوارى خلف شخصية السي ناظم ليبوح بحرية، في سردية ذاتية تسترجع ماضيه وتعيد تأمل محطات شكّلته داخليًا. وفي لحظة قيْد خارجي، يلوذ إلى الذاكرة، متوقفًا عند لحظات لم يمنحها التأمل الكافي في كتاباته السابقة.

يروي لنا عن رفيقته على مدى ستة عقود، السيدة ناظم، زوجته، ويخبرنا بأن ما نقرؤه هنا حصريّ، ولا يشاركه عادة. كما يُعرّفنا على الأب الذي بداخله، ولاحقًا على الجد.

ما يميّز هذه الرواية عن باقي أعمال اللعبي هو مواراته لأسماء الأمكنة؛ إذ يحاول أن يُضلّل القارئ الذي لم يتوغّل بعد في منجزه الأدبي، فيترك الكثير من التفاصيل مجهولة، غير مؤرخة، غير معنونة أو غير مُسمّاة. ولا يُلام في ذلك، بكل أمانة، فمقصّ الرقيب لا يرحم، وكذلك أعين النظام.

تعرّفتُ من خلال "قاع الخابية" على عبد اللطيف الطفل، ثم في "شاعر يمر" و"حرقة الأسئلة" على الشاب الطموح، المناضل، المثقف. أما الآن، فقد ترجّل الفارس عن حصانه، ولم يعُد يستجدي حراكًا ولا تغييرًا، إذ يكفيه أن يحقّق معادلته اليومية البسيطة: جرعة من الموسيقى، والكتابة، والمشي، والقراءة! هذا الرجل، الذي يبلغ الثمانين من عمره، قد عرف قيمة الأمان والسكينة، ولا أظنّه سيفرّط بهما مقابل أي شيء آخر، مهما كان!
