The controversial tennis coach behind such professional players as Andre Aggasi and Monica Seles traces his fractious relationships with his pupils, explains his philosophy of coaching, and discusses the corrupting influence of money on the sport.
Nicholas James Bollettieri was an American tennis coach. He pioneered the concept of a tennis boarding school, and helped develop many leading tennis players during the past decades, including Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Monica Seles, and Mary Pierce. He also worked with players such as Maria Sharapova, Daniela Hantuchová, Jelena Janković, Nicole Vaidišová, Sabine Lisicki, Sara Errani, Tommy Haas, Max Mirnyi, Xavier Malisse, Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova, Marcelo Ríos, and Kei Nishikori.
There's lots to cull in this memoir/journal written by the famed coach. Funny, light-hearted, boastful, sad at times, but informative look at Nick's complicated relationships with all-time greats like Agassi, Seles and Becker.
Interesting views on player development, particularly youngsters. Bollettieri, however, is a whiner with regard to how he thinks former students owe him strokes and money.
