What a sweet lovely book this is. Funny, endearing illustrations and just enough text to race through with my little grandson - who - even at 14 months enjoys this. Sometimes we only get through the first sentence on each page before we have to turn over to see more pictures :) - . It is sprinkled with humour which makes it enjoyable for the adult doing the reading - this helps when you have to read a book again and again and again... How sick I am of garish infant's books that squeak and whistle and flash and beep and generally give very young children the false impression that books are meant to DO something - thus ruining them for the proper enjoyment of books later. I am very old fashioned on this I know. I think children's books should stimulate their imaginations not give 'hit' rewards. There is enough flashing and beeping and glowing elsewhere. I look forward, in the future, to him reading it to me.
I luckily found this in a charity shop in Edinburgh. I think it may be Australian.

We love the rhythm of One Funky Monkey. Who knew that animals were capable of belly dancing, eagle rocking, disco jive talking, staying aliving, moonwalking, reggaeing, Congo lining, and lion-dancing. Priceless

2010 release through Walker Books Australia. This is a fun counting picture book in which animal toys dance off the shelf, from one to ten. Rhyming and rhythmical, I especially loved the references to modern culture; especially the Australiana, such as Eagle Rock.
