A detailed guide to nutrition popularising the Waerland regime based on careful attention to diet, illustrating the efficacy of the method with a number of case studies. In addition to general dietary guidance, the author offers organic and drug-free treatments for a wide range of diseases, including rheumatism, asthma, cancer, diabetes, skin problems, ulcers, diseases of the liver, multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis, diabetes, headache, migraine, insomnia, and constipation, anaemia, high blood pressure, heart disorders, goitre and varicose veins.
Ebba Waerland aims to detoxify the body with fasting, enemas, and alkaline diet. She recommends a lacto-vegetarian diet, mostly but not always raw. She praises chlorophyll, and garlic except in arthritis. She recommends sour milk or sauerkraut for bacterial flora, and condemns vaccination, saying that it causes the diseases of civilization. I do not agree with her use of cereals, potatoes, milk, cheese, and homeopathy, but can't argue with her results, if we can believe the case histories in this book. I strongly disagree with her praise of garlic, which I regard as a toxic irritant.
In fourteen chapters she discusses specific syndromes, both major and minor, from cancer to headaches. Her chapter on herbs is specific for various conditions. She gives detailed instructions and recipes, and her views on proper breathing, exercise, saunas, and spiritual and mental issues.
Some ideas worth considering, but I would not recommend her program to anyone seriously ill.
