Mary Jo Putney's riveting Lost Lords series unleashes a high stakes royal plot-which may prove easier for Damian Mackenzie to handle than his own unruly desire...He's a bastard and a gambler and society's favorite reprobate. How can she not fall in love...?
But Damian Mackenzie has secrets that leave no room in his life for courting high-born young ladies-especially not the sister of one of his oldest friends. Yet when Kiri's quick thinking reveals a deadly threat to England's crown, Damian learns that she is nowhere near as prim and respectable as he first assumed...and the lady is far more alluring than any man can resist...

When Mariah Clarke prayed for a way to deter a bullying suitor, she didn't imagine she'd find the answer washed ashore on a desolate beach. Convincing Adam that he is her husband is surprisingly easy. Resisting the temptation to act his wife, in every way, will prove anything but. And now a passion begun in fantasy has become dangerously real--and completely irresistible. . .

Mary Jo Putney was born on 1946 in Upstate New York with a reading addiction, a condition for which there is no known cure. After earning degrees in English Literature and Industrial Design at Syracuse University, she did various forms of design work in California and England before inertia took over in Baltimore, Maryland, where she has lived very comfortably ever since.
While becoming a novelist was her ultimate fantasy, it never occurred to her that writing was an achievable goal until she acquired a computer for other purposes. When the realization hit that a computer was the ultimate writing tool, she charged merrily into her first book with an ignorance that illustrates the adage that fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
Fortune sometimes favors the foolish and her first book sold quickly, thereby changing her life forever, in most ways for the better. (“But why didn't anyone tell me that writing would change the way one reads?”) Like a lemming over a cliff, she gave up her freelance graphic design business to become a full-time writer as soon as possible.
Since 1987, Ms. Putney has published twenty-nine books and counting. Her stories are noted for psychological depth and unusual subject matter such as alcoholism, death and dying, and domestic abuse. She has made all of the national bestseller lists including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USAToday, and Publishers Weekly. Five of her books have been named among the year’s top five romances by The Library Journal. The Spiral Path and Stolen Magic were chosen as one of Top Ten romances of their years by Booklist, published by the American Library Association.
A nine-time finalist for the Romance Writers of America RITA, she has won RITAs for Dancing on the Wind and The Rake and the Reformer and is on the RWA Honor Roll for bestselling authors. She has been awarded two Romantic Times Career Achievement Awards, four NJRW Golden Leaf awards, plus the NJRW career achievement award for historical romance. Though most of her books have been historical, she has also published three contemporary romances. The Marriage Spell will be out in June 2006 in hardcover, and Stolen Magic (written as M. J. Putney) will be released in July 2006.
Ms. Putney says that not least among the blessings of a full-time writing career is that one almost never has to wear pantyhose.
I'd read the other two books in this bundle but I needed "Never Less Than a Lady". I'm not a fan a bundles they are a good deal but I like my books separate. I also got this book in a different format then I normally read from the Public eLibrary 7/15/13. I didn't care for the different reading formats but I did enjoy the book. It seemed to have less action then the other two but was a nice middle book. You get to see all the other characters as this one continues to explore the different personalities of Lady Agne's boys.
Quotes:
"May you be healthy all your days. May you be blessed with long life and peace, May you grow old with goodness and with riches."
"I think this is one of the main reasons expel get married," Randall said reflectively. "For touch. For warmth and closeness. Passion is all very well, but it's brief. Affectionate touching can be done much more often."
Not sure why this ebook bundle has the novels in reverse order. The best way to read them would be chronologically: "Loving a Lost Lord", then "Never Less Than a Lady", with "Nowhere Near Respectable" last. Easy to do by using the navigation feature.
Individual ratings: Loving a Lost Lord - 2*. Started out well but went downhill. Family reunions on both sides were way too much, and there was no reasonable explanation why Mariah's parents separated and decided to split the twins. Never Less Than a Lady - 3*. A few inconsistencies, and a bit too much drama, but enjoyable overall. Nowhere Near Respectable - 4*. My favourite of the bunch. Strong characters, fast moving plot, and a leading lady who knows what she wants and how to get it.
Very enjoyable. I got the eBook version with 5 novels, not 3 (Loving a Lost Lord, Never Less Than a Lady, Nowhere Near Respectable, No Longer a Gentleman and Sometimes a Rogue). Years ago I read everything Putney wrote, but when she took a hiatus from the historical romance genre I stopped reading her. Didn't realize she had returned to her first love until recently so I picked these up and was pretty happy with them. She creates interesting characters with stories that hold my interest, I went through all 5 of them without a break. They won't be on my 'desert island reading' list, but they gave me many hours of enjoyment
Enjoyed these books, strong characters and interesting however in electronic format the third book is the first to be read would advise reading either in paper format or not in the the bundle format if you like to read in chronological order. The ending of the second book ifeltleft the reader hanging and wanting more information.
I am outraged that this bundle is organized in reverse order. I read what came first thinking it should be the first. As a result I gained spoilers that ruined many aspects of the other stories.
